Place was empty on a Saturday in July. Odd, but the whole mall, was empty. We had the place to ourselves and they've redone the place. It's smaller than it used to be. The veggie pizza was okay. Lacking in flavor. I added crushed red pepper but it needed more. The Malawi pizza was more flavorful. We do like the thin crusts, but I'll have to try a different pizza next time. Their lunch specials were nice because it came with a side salad but if you look at the photo, they put the salad on a plastic lid. Now if you are looking for some cheap good pizza go to Costco because this is definitely more gourmet. However, if you are looking for more than just a average pizza come to this place and give it a try. I usually get one of the signature pizzas but during this trip I was with a toddler so I stuck to just cheese. Either way it was still delicious. So I technically would do a two star review because of the following two reasons: I'm a picky pizza toppings person and when it comes to a Margherita pizza, I find that most places don't put enough basil on it. So I made sure to stress this point with them and asked they put extra basil on it. Unfortunately, they didn't and the BBQ chicken pizza we got was basically burnt on the crust to the point you couldn't enjoy the flavor. However, due to the cause they are a part of, the friendly and happy seeming staff, and nice casual interior, I decided to give them a 3 star rating. I would have loved to do 4 stars but I just can't get past those two reasons. On the other hand, each pizza was pretty tasty. The chicken bacon ranch was delicious and decent. The fresh parsley on the BBQ with the onions and sauce was a surprise of blended flavor in the mouth. The BBQ sauce also wasn't over powering. The sauce for the Margherita was an almost perfect flavoring. The pizza dough is the perfect thickness and you don't feel like you have a dinner roll left over for the actual crust part. Lol I will be willing to try them again but I think it may be a good idea to make sure the pizza isn't burnt, or that the extra toppings were added before serving the pizza to the customer. Changing from two stars to five. Originally I wasn't enjoying the pizza first time. But they've gone a lot better and I've learned to order what they are best for. Every time I come in the owner has called me and welcomed me back. Very friendly and very comfortable place to be. Just don't order the margarita pizza or it will fall apart. I haven't been here for over a year, I went here with a few friends for lunch today and it was AWESOME! We all got their lunch special that was $10 it included a pizza, salad and drink! The pizza came out looking just like the picture and tasted amazing! The Manager Mark even let us try the strawberry Carmel dessert, it was so yummy. I am so sad with the changes they've made. I thought their consolidation strategy of closing their other two restaurants to focus on this one location would be a great way to keep a gem alive. The change to the menu was definitely not expected and very disappointing. They used to have very inventive and impressive choices of pizza, salad, and pasta, which you could've chosen the same flavor in whichever form you wanted. The Thai Peanut was the reason we returned tonight and it doesn't even exist anymore. The change they made to their now only option for dessert pizza, Berries n' Cream, was an obvious attempt to save money. The smaller version with the cream cheese drizzle with fresh berries was way better quality than this version doused with canned whipped cream. I'm saddened by the revamp to use less quality when your first menu strategy was much more masterful and respected. I hope to see it come back, because the way it is now is not worth me coming back. Malwai's is pretty good. I would not say it is the best pizza in the workd but it is relatively good. Theg also have pretty good salads, pastas in desserts. Would not be my first choice for pizza, but definitely a top choice when in the Riverwoods. Malawi's Pizza is definitely worth a try! I tried it years ago and wasn't that impressed but I'm glad I gave them a second chance. I recently tried it again and the pizzas were so good! My favorite was probably the Capri pizza. It was so light and delicious! I loved the grizzle of balsamic on it! I also had the Citrus Arugula and it was good to! It was so fresh with the arugula on top! I would say the pizzas are on the pricey side being around $12 each. However, you could share a pizza depending on how much you eat. The pizzas are good size. DON'T COME HERE. Worst customer service I've seen in a long time. If I had treated someone the way the manager had treated me at my own job, I would've gotten fired. Never eating here again. We've made a few visits to Malawi's since we began visiting Utah on a regular basis. When it first opened we were big fans and we still enjoy it but not quite as much as we used to. First, it's a pizza style comparable with Mod, Pieology, Blaze, places like that except you don't really create your own pizza. There are a variety of pizzas to choose from however and they appear to be cooked in a wood-fired oven. The crust is thin which allows for very quick cooking time. The pizza is fine. It's not great pizza but again it's very comparable to the places we mentioned. The biggest difference is really the cost, as Malawi's is more expensive. They do donate a "meal" to children in Malawi for each meal sold in the restaurants so maybe that is part of their rationale for the pricing. They offer a variety of pastas and salads as well. Again, decent food. Again, overpriced, especially the "half-size" portions. Keep in mind there is no table service here other than to drop off your food. The decor inside is beautiful and themed to their mission. The service has been good, though it seems sometimes all of your order arrives at once and at other times half of your group is done eating before the remainder get their food. You do stand in line at a register to order. If price isn't an issue for you this is a unique place in some regards and perhaps a place your guests from out-of-town might enjoy. read more

Here is what their website says, "For each meal purchased in one of our restaurants we donate a nutritious meal to a child in Malawi, Africa." AWESOME. Now, to the food. Malawi's pizza is just okay. I've tried four different kinds of pizza and the only one that I end up coming back for is the Malawi Capri pizza. It's actually a very good pizza. Also, the Berries and Cream dessert pizza is very good too. But to rate the restaurant from an overall food standpoint, it's a three star Yelp rating. I was excited to come here with my family after visiting Provo Beach last week, but I was disgusted by some of the things the employees were talking about. I noticed someone by the name of JP who appeared to be the manager of the business interacting with his employees (who were teenagers) by using many explicit jokes. I decided not to order from here for that reason. I hope these employees improve their language because this is supposed to be a family friendly restaurant. Sadly we were waiting in line and we had to leave because we noticed that the way everyone handled the food here was disgusting. There were two guys with gloves on, one touched his phone then someone's food, the other was scratching his face and touching his hair WITH GLOVES ON. I might just be a bit weird and grossed out but after taking the food handlers class and test myself, I was displeased to see that they were doing almost EVERYTHING you're NOT SUPPOSED to do while wearing gloves.
