    Chimichurri chicken sandwich
    Brandon S.

The chimichurri chicken sandwich was OK at first, but the sauce after a while became very overpowering. I think if you get it on the side and add it to your sandwich as you want, it would be a lot better. The Mexican spin wheels were hot garbage. The service was OK, nothing to write home about the ambience was also OK but the table was a little small for someone 6 foot tall and 6'7" respectively.

Dinner & Drinks ~ THIS PLACE ~ Always has Fresh Cooked authentic Fried Chicken that comes out Piping Hot, Moist and Crispy! It's 'Slap Yo Moma Good!' We always order the Fried Chicken 6 piece, Habanero Bacon MAC, Mexican Corn & Poblano Mash Potatoes and it is SO GOOD!! I go into a state of shock it's so yummy. Trust me on this: Ask for a side of their signature avocado dip sauce (it's no extra charge), then dip your chicken meat in it and you will be blown away! This is one of our Go-To regular places, no matter what time we go their food is FRESH MADE to order and they're open until 2 AM. Great location too, very safe with a door man and all. Try it Out and it'll become your Favorite too. The ambiance is inviting, dim lit and full of positive energy. Everyone behind the bar, where we always sit to eat, is happy & helpful and that makes me feel welcome. I only give HONEST and TRUE Reviews from the Heart. Thank you for taking the time to read it & react to it.

Do not be fooled by this dive bar appearance. By dive bar, I actually mean almost looking like a dive bar that hasn't been operating for years from the exterior. I say all of this as a good thing. It's a vibe. Seriously. The vibe is even better when you get your mouth on the goodness they are serving up. I don't know how they season the chicken tenders (battered and deep fired) but I can tell you this, those tenders are magic to the lips and tongue. WOO! Power-packed goodness. AND the most important part, the meat is tender (yep) and juicy! Not dried out or over cooked. Let's talk sides... Habanero bacon macaroni and cheese. OMG it is probably some of the best out there. It's got that southern-style bake to it that pops with the habanero and bacon. Just enough kick to make you wanting more. Talk about wanting more, the poblano mashed potatoes are INSANE, gang! I could eat them all day, everyday. Again, that southern-style cooking that brings and extra "hmmpf" of flavor! I can't wait to get back to Dallas to try the other menu items. My mouth is drooling just thinking of it.

Good food and fast service. Waitress was nice and staff was very attentive. Atmosphere was good too.

Amazing service and even better food! They have a great Mac and cheese and an amazing "KFC" Bowl. Man. 10/10. Very chill atmosphere. I will be back. Nick served us at the bar top and was great.

A little hidden gem in Deep Ellum with great delicious bites. I always put my friends on this place when we're out late. Brick and Bones always hits the spot. Hot chicken, habenero Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and elote, are all staples. Make this your stop for late night munchies

This is my go to late night spot in the neighborhood. I've been a customer for nearly 10 years. The whole place is a vibe. The music is always on point. Lola behind the bar is so amazing. And the 6 piece is fantastic. And don't forget the green BEANS

Great Experience! Live around the area and decided to walk and find some dinner, ended up finding this fried chicken spot and was the best decision ever! Great prices ended up paying for two entrees and two sides for $40 plus 25% tip in total paying about $50 for two people. Food was delicious! And the chicken was cooked to perfection, great portions for the price and very fulfilling. The vibe was perfect if you like a chill dark ambiance and the staff was very friendly and attentive :) We ordered: - 3pc chicken - green beans - hot chicken - Mexican corn - waters We will be coming here often, great spot for a quiet, WEEKDAY, dinner date or snack

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

The service felt distant and rushed. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu, gave us conflicting information about drink availability, and rarely checked on us. We specifically asked not to be rushed, yet our entrées arrived while we were only a quarter of the way through our appetizer. At one point, our food was delivered while we were outside getting fresh air. The food was also disappointing. The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. To top it off, we saw two large cockroaches around our table, which was especially noticeable in the dark dining room. The cocktails were the highlight, but overall, the service, food, pacing, and cleanliness did not meet expectations. One star. Very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll be back.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Chicken meatballs were 6/10, salty, but sauce again was 8.5/10. Bread with the meatballs was 9/10. Nightly special was 9/10, chicken thigh wrapped chicken leg, amazing sauce and carrots. Special sauce with the nightly special stole the night at 9.5/10 - I'd order a bowl of that and call it a night! Magic Chicken Thighs were 6/10, overly salted and dry - side arugula salad was a salt bomb 2/10. Sweet potatoe purée was 7.5/10. Burger and fries were 7/10, solid and above average. Salmon was 7/10, slightly overcooked. Mac & Cheese was 3/10, below average, dry, almost flavorless - paid $4 for bacon topping and it was dry also. Noodles were dried out and the cheese sauce was at the bottom of the cup, tasted like they scooped in pre-made noodles, added sauce, threw it in the oven and off it went - didn't appear mixed together at the least. Carrots, solid 8/10.
