Breadbelly is one of my favorite bakeries. They offer quality pastries and serve some delicious breakfast sandwiches. I came with a friend and he ordered several items for us to share. The biscuit smash was to die for. I wish I had ordered my own. The biscuit was perfectly baked and had the most delicious, buttery flavor to it. For desserts, the standouts were the kaya bun and the blueberry guava bostock. The kaya bun had a generous portion of the pandan and coconut custard filling and it was toasted on top with a matcha-almond crust. The blueberry guava bostock was moist and full of guava and blueberry flavors. Both desserts were rich, yet not overly sweet. Next time, I will be treating myself to more of their sweet and savory items. While the bakery itself can get quite crowded, they have a generous patio area with ample seating for folks to enjoy their treats.

Pastry Not much left around Saturday 10:45am

Get there early, a lot of items are sold out by 10:45AM. You are able to order through TOAST if you do not want to wait in line! The pickup area is a bit chaotic. Not much space to wait, so the organization can be a bit better. Delicious Kaya toast, cannot get it frequently since it is $10. Kaya is coconut jam, sweet yes, but the salt flakes help. I hope to try the Kaya toast

Kaya Bun and Guava Plum Bostock

Definitely worth the hype coming here. We enjoyed the different flavors the shop offered. Lots of different items to choose from, so it could be a little bit overwhelming from the line that builds up behind you. The staff are very friendly and patient offering good recommendations if you have a hard time finding something you like. The shop has limited seating inside, but rotates through their customers fairly quick. However, they do have plenty of seating outside to enjoy the nice weather with a cup of joe and brunch. Pet friendly!

We ordered ahead of time online for pick up for their breakfast sandwiches, and ended up also waiting in line to order the Kaya toast since we managed to get some of the outdoor seating. Ordering ahead is a good way to avoid the line though. The breakfast sandwich is good, has a smoky flavor from the deli meat. The stand out though was the Kaya toast, sweet but so delicious, we split it as a group and loved it. The breakfast sandwich was good but I'd skip it next time to try other items. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu!

Coffee crisp with Mt. Tam basque cheesecake

Not sure why this is my first time trying Breadbelly but better late than never! I tried the Mt. Tam basque cheesecake and the Kava Bread. The cheesecake comes with these coffee crisps and WHAT A COMBINATION! The cheesecake was not too cheesy, had great flavor and the texture was a perfect mixture of soft and dense. The coffee crisp was both slightly bitter and sweet at the same time and was the perfect complement to the cheesecake! The Kava Bun was like your traditional pineapple bun except with pandan! The bun was topped with tiny sugar crystals which added a nice crunch! I will definitely be back to try other menu items including their drinks! Staff members were nice, service was quick and Breadbelly had a decent number of outdoor seating with some on the inside as well. Such a cute spot!

I really liked the outdoor seating. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a sunny day. That said, weekends are a different story. It gets very busy, and I'm not a fan of waiting in long lines or struggling to find a seat. For me, that takes away from the experience. So far, I've only tried two items. The pastry was nice, but the sesame coffee just didn't taste good. I actually love sesame, so that was disappointing. For now, I'm not particularly impressed, but I also don't feel like I've gotten a full sense of what the café has to offer yet. I'm planning to come back and try a few more items before making up my mind. So far, it's been about a 3.5 experience overall.

Really delicious baked goods! My favorite is the kaya toast, which has super soft milk bread with a coconut pandan jam that is not overly sweet. It has the perfect balance of sweetness with just a hint of savory. The coconut flavor is subtle. The kaya bun had a similar coconut pandan filling and was also delicious, though I still preferred the kaya toast. We also tried the croissant and gyeranbbang, both of which were good. I have also had their Mt. Tam Basque cheesecake before, which is incredibly rich and decadent. It is perfect for enjoying a few bites at a time, though it is a bit too heavy for me to finish in one sitting. The yuzu americano drink was not my favorite pairing. It tasted carbonated and sour, which I guess true to the description, but it just was not for me! Friendly service! Convenient to place online orders through their website. Street parking only.

Didnt go inside but theres ample seating just outside their shop. Ordered a chicken sando and kaya toast, chicken sando was great and had good crisp and flavour, kaya toast was surprisingly thick and I wish it had more structure. Flavour was good though!

When we walked up to the bright turquoise Breadbelly building there was a line that had begun to form outside, but the crowd was lively and they had a speaker blasting songs from the Black Eyed Peas. It was a vibe. My energy was kept up with one of their delicious hot matcha cappuccinos! Now for the food...I ordered their regular breakfast sandwich, but there was nothing regular about it. I love that they used a pandesal (Filipino bread) for the sandwich bun! And the sauce!! The sauce gave it incredibly unique flavor that had me stuffing my face. I tried a bite of their sausage biscuit smash and was equally impressed! It was like a Sausage McMuffin, but 10x better. I would definitely come back and grab some of their sweet treats to go too! Also, would definitely recommend this spot to friends looking to grab some brunch.

I've heard so much about the Kaya toast and it definitely lived up to the hype. The milk bread was toasted, with a slightly sweet, pillowy soft interior. The pandan coconut custard jam had a great flavor and was super smooth. The addition of flaky salt on top was a good addition for both texture and sweet-salty balance. For a savory addition, I tried the chicken cutlet, which was juicy, freshly fried, and had a good five spice flavor. Overall, excellent food with a creative menu I look forward to exploring more. There's very limited seating (2-3 small tables) inside, but more table and bench seating outdoors. Service was quick and friendly, and it's easy to order ahead to pick up.

Wow, the Kaya toast and iced black sesame cappuccino were delicious. Both are must-order items if you're craving a sweet treat. Make sure to mix the iced drink well since the sweet part sinks to the bottom. It is soooo good when mixed and has a balanced nutty flavor. The bread for the Kaya toast is a thick perfect piece of milk bread and the pandan coconut custard jam on top is to die for. The little bit of flaky salt is such a nice touch that perfectly balances all the flavors. YUM! Staff were wonderful. There's a ton of seating outside which was perfect to enjoy the nice weather. Line moved quickly and service was fast too!

Going down Clement street in San Francisco it changes once you go past Park Presidio Blvd. You will notice there are less stores and restaurants than the first mile of Clement street. You will also find a bakery on 15th Avenue and Clement which is always crowded and cramped with people when I go at anytime of the weekday and weekend to get some pastries . It has Asian inspired bake goods along with hot and cold drinks. You will find bake goods such as Cherry almond cake, Mt. Tam Basque Cheesecake and purple sweet potato Not-Ube Tart. You will see on the menu made to order sandwiches like these egg salad bunwich and Biscuit Smash. You will also find the Shrimpwich and Taiwanese-style fried chicken cutlet sandwich. It's called the Breadbelly in the Richmond District of San Francisco. On a Spring stroll in search of matcha on a rainy day in SF , Don Juan de la Matcha found some warm matcha. I came to Breadbelly for the green items like the Kaya toast and Matcha. I decided to get the Matcha cappuccino which was smooth warm and not too sweet. Although it was only 8 ounces every drop was strong and packed a punch ( not the viral monkey). I then had the Kaya toast and it was a bit sweet and not too flakey like some in SF. The green Pandan jam on the Kaya toast was a bit savory but delicious . There are few canary yellow tables to sit inside and a lot more seating outside. Overall a good place to grab and pair a green dessert and a green drink. Go on a Spring stroll past by the Park Presidio green "trees" in San Francisco where the weather can easily change in one day and go from 50 to 70 "degrees" you also can grab a sandwich like the fried chicken cutlet which the style of "Taiwanese"and the matcha which is done in the style of the "Japanese " Come for a "break" at Breadbelly where they "bake "the Kumquat Twice-Baked Croissant and other baked goods like some in SF which "flake"and make it a meal and try their egg salad bunwich , matcha cappuccino, and cherry almond "cake"

Had a little extra time today. So. Hubby and I went to get breakfast. Breadbelly Biscuit Smash - buttermilk biscuit, black pepper sausage patty, scallion omelette, peanut romesco sauce, new school American cheese The biscuit was so crunchy, the egg cooked just right and the sausage was cooked perfect. So tender. Classic Croissant - croissant made with Beurre d'Isigny, French Normandy butter All the associate's there provided great service. The deco was very simple and nice. They had a great outdoor seating area. It is a must visit.

Ask the Community - Breadbelly

Is there seating?

Yes, a few indoors and in a parklet.

Is it crowded on the weekend?

Sometimes, yes. But you can order online.

What GF options are there?

They have some GF cookie options -- the buckwheat chocolate cookie is incredible

Is the gelatin in the kaya bun pork?

No is just like matcha jelly

Why are they always closed (Saturday at noon)?

10-2PM they are open at 12 Noon Saturdays

What is the best time to go during the weekends before things start getting sold out?

I would def say before 12:30! You want to miss the lunch time rush or post church rush! I went around 10ish and there were only a few people there :)

Why is it called "not ube tart"?

Ube is purple yam in Filipino. The 'not ube' tart is made from sweet potato which is not the same as a yam. While we're at it, taro is totally different from purple yam or sweet potato.

Interior is this off white with warm and soft ambient lighting. Downstairs had a cozy couch and high chair hybrid corner to the left with bar seating in the middle and then they have this U shape setup for upstairs seating. Hojicha latte - great price but this did not taste like the hojicha profile I'm familiar with. In other words, I didn't like it. I wouldn't be able to tell this was a hojicha latte if I tasted this blindly. It just tasted very grainy, doesn't have that rich toasty nutty sweetness I'm used to. Tbh, idk what I was drinking at that point. Wouldn't recommend. Yuja perilla espresso tonic - if you need a wake up call, a punch in the face, this is the drink for you. Complex flavor profile. Very zesty citrusy and herby. It kind of softens up as the ice melts so the end was more enjoyable. Really wanted to like this trendy cafe that's all over social media but this time, it didn't deliver for me. Overall, I think I'll just try their coffee series next time. PSA: parking here is like a nightmare. Limited meter parking. I've seen cars just getting meter maid tickets left and right. Recommend to take public transportation or rideshare.

Since Stonemill opens at 10 AM, I arrived around 9:40 AM. Shortly afterwards, a long line started to form behind me. Once inside, my friend and I placed our matcha orders and were seated in a cozy nook by the window. Despite the steady flow of customers throughout the morning, our drinks were brought out in about ten minutes. My matcha latte with oat milk was served in a large ceramic mug, and it was certainly one of the smoothest matcha lattes I've had in SF (where there is no shortage of contenders!). The matcha itself was slightly earthy, and the latte had a hint of sweetness to balance the flavor. I did not order food this time, but I saw several people around us order the Japanese breakfast set and matcha cream pie, which I will have to try on my next visit. Despite the constant line to enter the cafe, the ambiance inside remained relaxed and welcoming, perfect for savoring our matcha.

Getting a pretty basic, straight forward matcha or hojicha beverage is always a good way to tell how a store's quality of matcha is. Of course just a plain matcha like usucha is a better way of telling but I like mine with oat milk. Upon first sip of the matcha latte, I could tell immediately that the matcha quality is of very low grade. It was extremely bitter even with the oat milk which was unfortunate. I sipped on it on my walk home and once I was back, I added more oat milk to the cup. That's how bitter it was! On the other hand, the hojicha latte was quite alright. Nothing to write home about but I didn't have to make my own alterations for that one. I'd come back for a hojicha latte but definitely not for their matcha. I can make it better at home..using a high quality powder.
