Vegan scramble with avocado:)
susie K.

Went here last week and was pleasantly surprised to see a vegan section on their menu - - big help for those of us not eating eggs or dairy. The service was super friendly. Dining room has quite a few tables. Food came out in good time. And the vegan scramble was pretty good.

Cappuccino and pastry. Why the to go cup? no idea
Jessica S.

Right next to Kaiser, so came for coffee and a snack. The employee at the cashier greets and immediately asks you what you'd like to order even though the pastry shelves are deeper in. Hm. The pastries looked great, but I hesitated when I saw a few flies buzzing within the glass shelves and employees who didn't seem to care. ...still ordered a few danishes. They tasted great. Ordered cappuccino and that tasted good too. Good size. However, cashier didn't seem to want me to "dine in" for some reason. Kept pushing for a togo order. Ended caving but got a plate for my pastry. Then i accidentally knocked over my to go cup coffee while swatting at these malicious mosquitos. Knocked it all over myself and my stuff T-T This would not have happened if I had a ceramic cup, so I went in and told the cashier and all she could offer was a "I'm sorry". Ugh. So I ordered cappuccino because I have hours to burn and really do need caffeine but I didn't go back to their mosquito infested patio and just to Kaiser. Would've sat inside but the vibes were off.

They charge market prices for eggs. That was not mentioned on the menu or in person. So avocado toasts that comes with eggs is charges extra for eggs.

French Country

Wait I actually can't believe this place has such low reviews because I had one of the best diner-like experiences of my life here and the food we had was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the French Country egg sandwich. That thing is SO GOOD. The salty sweet combination of the ham/egg with the fig spread means so much to me. The bread was soft and contained the sandwich well, and I think about this sandwich every time I look back on the three days I spent in DC. We also tried the strawberry crepe, which came with this strawberry cream inside that I think was house made? It was just so unexpected-- I was really expecting just strawberries and whipped cream, but they took this to the next level. I was so impressed by the cream and it wasn't too sweet. I also ordered an iced chai, which tasted so similar in flavor to an iced chai I've had in NYC that is probably one of the best chais I've had. Not too watery and pretty strong and creamy. The only thing I'll say is that our waitress got our order wrong for both dishes. She came out with a completely different sandwich (we asked for a replacement), and we had actually ordered the blueberry crepe not the strawberry (we just didn't want them to throw the strawberry away so we decided to eat it). Not sure how the order got so wrong, but in the end it was no big deal. This will be a stop next time I'm here 100%

Online menu, not what I paid
Nikki N.

I ordered two sandwiches over the phone. I picked them up and briefly thought the total seemed high, but I paid it and left. Later I checked the receipt. They charged higher prices than they advertised on their website. I filled out the website form to ask for a refund. They did not respond. Two sandwiches (chicken avocado and ham/brie) should not cost $37.50. Way overpriced.

Salmon salad

Solid place for breakfast/lunch or a pastry. Conveniently located near Georgetown. Fast, friendly service. Large selection of pastries. I had the croissant which was flaky and buttery. Salmon on the salad was a nice sized portion.

I forgot the name on the menu, but it had ham and cheese inside. :)

The best aspect of this place is the service!! Such a welcoming environment, smiles and kindness all around, which makes you enjoy whatever you order. The omelette was great, I had it with some side salad. Well presented and very tasty. Cappuccino was also nicely done. I had higher hopes on the pastries, but that's ok. Maybe it was the wrong day, maybe I'm just too picky. If I went back, I would just order the omelette :)

$10 "bowl" of tasteless soup
Angela W.

i paid $10 for a "bowl" of soup and $5 for a bottled water because there were no other options for water. super small, tasteless.

Nice place for a quick breakfast or brunch. They have variety of pastries and service was good. The employees greeted us right away and brought the menus quickly and didn't have to wait for long for ordering. You can sit outside or inside. The place was not loud and we felt welcomed and really liked the food. Prices are not bad for the area and compare to other places.

fig ham & brie sammy
Isabel O.

i always see this spot filled with people sitting outside when i'm going to my doctors visits. decided to give it a a try. a classic, nice but not too fancy cafe with a spacious inside and nice outdoor seating. saw a couple politicians having lunch (secret service members lingering outside). got the fig and brie sandwich! very yummy but beware of the price has increased since some of these menu photos. cheapest thing is about 13. sandwiches about 16-20 bucks. overall a good local cafe that seems like a neighborhood favorite in a sea of corporate lunch spots, good fast service and food but a little pricey.

This time we had our baby and I wasn't impressed with the lack of sides or anything to get for her. We asked for two eggs scrambled with cheese but were told we'd have to buy an egg prosciutto sandwich for $11 and tell them we didn't want any of the items. Um, no. The tuna sandwich asked for lettuce and told can't add lettuce. My husband asked for something not on his lamb pita, same story. Oh well. No customization at all, no subs. Makes business easier, but not as attractive for price point for customers. I'll remember to keep it to coffee and pastries from now on. Chicken pita was good, a bit heavy on the parsley but loved the dressing. Tuna sandwich was a hit. Pastries are always good. My pistachio latte was chewy bc it had grainy bits of pistachio in it. Not to my liking. $70 for three sandwiches, two coffees and two cookies.
