Caliper bolt
Kat P.

The man I spoke to on the phone (Michael?) was very kind and fit me in very quickly. I was experiencing a squeaking and scraping sound when I hit my brakes so I figured I just needed my brake pads and rotors replaced. When I arrived, the man at the front desk was incredibly rude, cut my off multiple times while I was speaking, and overall treated me like I was I stupid or what I was saying held no value. Very unprofessional. They pulled my car around and the man I spoke to on the phone came out and gave me a basic run down, said they were going to inspect everything, etc. The told me it would take about 45 mins for the inspection. I decided to walk around the shopping center and got some boba and food. While I was eating my sushi, I got a call from Brakes Plus. They explained that there was a problem with removing my wheels, and wanted to charge me approx. $6 for every lug nut they needed to replace, adding up to about $75 extra. I immediately called bullcrap. I called a friend of mine to confirm they were ripping me off and he did. I walked back over and asked to see the lug nuts. They of course got all nervous as I walked back to my vehicle, which was suspended in the air with three wheels already off of it. They told me my key (locking lugnuts) was not working and they were unable to remove the last wheel, nor were they able to put my original nuts back on. I, of course, told them that I do not feel comfortable with them continuing to work on my vehicle, and that I would like to leave. I told them I felt discriminated against due to my gender and would rather take my business elsewhere. They said "Okay" and apologized, but still tried to sell me the lug nuts. After negotiating with another team member (who was actually nice) he agreed to comp the charge for the lug nuts. Now, you may be asking, "Why would she not pay for them?" Well, that's because they stripped my key AND my lugnuts rendering them unusable, and then tried to make ME pay for their mistake. I drive away feeling happy that I stood up for myself. Only, I hear a loud click and banging sound when I'm turning into a shopping center around 3 minutes down Warner. I immediately park and look into the street, and notice a bolt of some kind. I pick it up and lo and behold, it was my freaking caliper bolt. I assume they tried to remove them because my wheel wasn't coming off and they forgot to tighten it back. I am forced to return to said horror house and have them tighten it back. They told me what the problem was, and I was correct! Yay! They did not charge me for fixing it, but DID once again try to blame me for the problem, saying it was probably already loose when I came in (yeah right). These people are DEFINITELY predatory towards people who they believe know nothing about cars. Avoid at all costs, especially if you're a woman. This all took place a couple of months ago. Enjoy the photo of my caliper bolt below I'm just happy the bolt didn't fly off when I was turning on Arizona, that could've ended very poorly.

We started having some loss of power issues (no check engine light) in Southern Utah and with no shops open, we limped it to our destination in Gilbert, AZ. Took our rig (2000 Ford Excursion w/ V-10) to Sunland Auto and Randy was who took my information and such. They diagnosed the issue to being a bad catalytic converter. They called, informed me of the problem and the cost of repair, I gulped (those suckers are expensive, I know, but still hurts) and said do what needs to be done. Super quick version - That catalytic converter went bad while in California, was told it would be covered under warranty, it wasn't due to sublet being used for initial repair, Sunland Auto (Scott) reimbursed me still. Thank you, Randy and Scott, for working with me and taking care of my family the way you did. Not so quick version - Sunland Auto got it replaced (and checked and recharged my A/C system per my request) and I got the rig back. All went well; we then went to Southern California for leg two of our trip and the rig ran well all the way there. While in CA, I was leaving to go to church and noticed something was off and limped the rig back around the block. Got it into a shop the next day. Long story short there, the catalytic converter was bad. Seems unlikely to get a defective one, but the rig was running well, had different shops look at it and none noticed anything mechanical going on to think the rig was destroying the catalytic converter that quickly. I called Randy at Sunland Auto and explained the situation, prior to taking it to another shop. He was sorry to hear I was having car troubles and let me know if it is in fact the catalytic converter, that Sunland Auto is part of a nationwide warranty program and it would be covered, so to take it to a shop, get it diagnosed, and circle back. So, once it was diagnosed to be the catalytic converter, I worked with Randy on next steps. He told me there were some shops in network with the warranty provider, but that ended up not working out as one was backed up a couple of days and the other seemed uncertain about the warranty claims system (person behind the desk said the owner deals with that). So, I end up calling the nationwide warranty provider for some insight, they give me a couple more shops (most won't be of help, jiffy lube, body shops, etc.) and also tell me I can go out of network, I would just need to submit the claim myself. I decided to go that route as we needed to get back on the road to head home to Montana. We get a new catalytic converter and make it home. I work on the warranty claim. I get informed that because a sublet was used to do the repair, there is no warranty. I at first understood this to be that I used a shop that was disqualified and was disappointed. I call Randy, explain the situation to him and he collects information from me, who I spoke with, etc., and get clarification for himself. He gets back to me and says he also must have been misinformed about the use of sublets. He asks me to send him the invoices of the shops I had do the work in CA and he would send the situation to the owner (Scott I believe is the owner). While I wait a few days, I reread the email from the nationwide warranty and realize the reason they will not honor it is because Sunland Auto used a sublet to do the catalytic converter replacement, therefore the was no warranty. Now I understood that situation better. I reach out to Randy via email, forwarding him my conversation with the nationwide warranty rep and share my new realized understanding and ask if this is the situation. Randy forwarded my email to Scott, and Scott reached out asking me to call him so we can work out me getting reimbursed. We got it worked out and I was reimbursed for the charge of having the catalytic converter replaced by Sunland Auto. It wasn't as smooth as one would hope, but I am grateful that Sunland Auto cared enough about me, someone that was an out-of-state visitor, to still be willing to honor their work and reputation and reimburse me for the charged amount since it could not be done via warranty. I appreciate that Randy took time to work with me, because I know the shop is a very busy shop, and for good reason. Thank you again Randy for being available to answer my questions and concerns, and working on making sure I was taken care of, and to Scott for getting me taken care of.

American Muscle Experts! FINALLY ... we have found a trustworthy, honest, and efficient auto repair…read moreshop in Arizona. My fiancé unfortunately chose another local shop that offered many false promise as well as almost destroyed my beautiful Mustang GT. It is a 2016 and we did not have any issues with it over the years. However in August 2022 it overheated from a radiator issue. It was so bad the head gasket became damaged. The other shop simply did not know how to properly repair a mustang. I was devastated and then did my research for competent shop. I then reached out to this shop and Pete answered my call after hours. Pete listened to my concerns and was very knowlegable, kind, and reassuring. He was able to get us in quickly and they were able to fix the car within a week. I had already been paying for a rental car for 2.5 months. I will always be a customer and refer people to this shop. I also have a review on the Nextdoor app & google as well. Thank you to Pete and the team at Car Guy Shop for helping us out of a very difficult situation efficiently & quickly.

Long story short, I had a blown head gasket and decided it was time to make some upgrades. Ordered a set of cams and some intake parts to replace stock; two months and 13 cam timing codes later, I had the car towed from that shop to Car Guys new location. The immediately dug into the engine and found exactly where the other shop went wrong. They took the time to walk me through and explain everything that was diagnosed through their troubleshooting process. They retimed my cams and the engine runs like a top. I was thoroughly pleased and will never trust anyone else with my car.
