I would agree with John G, if I could, Id give this place no stars. However I signed on just to write a review about this place, and that's big coming from a guy who doesn't ever write a review
The work they do-Average
Customer Service-Beyond Horrible
I haven't had a single person I know have anything positive to say about this shop. In fact, a friend of mine had taken her car up here once and when she asked them where the car was, they couldn't find it. How do you misplace a car?
I also had a Honda Civic, only needed to have the CEL Light checked, however they were of no help to me. This store was actually the first store I went to, they just told me they were booked, second store I called gave me an appointment and "forgot" to let us know that something came up and couldn't get the time to look at the car.
Its a 92 civic so its not like we could have taken it to autozone
We finally found an Aamco that would take the car in, we dropped it off, and a few hours later, they told us they couldn't pull the codes because they didnt have the equipment to check it.
Funny thing is, I took the car home and pulled the codes myself through a jumper wire method. Free and accurately.
PS NEVER GO TO AAMCO FOR CEL check. Its a waste of time and a scam. Most OBDII and up cars can be read by Autozone, and if its an earlier OBDI then the internet is your best tool. There is usually always a method to pull these codes and the process is simple.
Unfortunately I never learned my lesson through my past and others experiences. I had a timing belt and water replacement job done on my car. Ill admit, when I left the shop initially I had no complaints. I was just happy my baby was back on the road again. As an amateur mechanic I didn't feel confident enough to do this job myself, and the warranty was definitely reassuring
5-7 months down the road the belt separates into two.(the ridges of the belt separated from the other side). I inform mitch of the situation, and he says they'll take a look at it. Dropped it off thursday, and I finally got a call monday.
He tells me that a few seals need to be replaced, and the belt due to an oil leak. And they'd fix the seals and belt for 730$. I told him thats a bit too much considering they're just seals.(And you would think they would have caught something like this when they initially did the job.)
I said fine, do the belt and dont worry about warrantying the work this time.
He refused to do so unless the seals were fixed as well.
730$ and this includes the warranty of the timing belt.
I want all readers to beware that this price is ridiculous.
The seals do not cost more than 20$ each, and I only needed 2 seals and the valve cover gasket.
On top of this mechanic shops get parts at a discount at least 15% minimum.
As a result im paying more than 600 in labor
My suggestion to all of you,
Definitely find a mechanic you trust, or learn to be a little more hands on with your car.
The Job they wanted to do for 730$ Ive already started on myself for 300$. Not only did I save 400$+, all the parts I'm using are OEM, and I am getting way more for less. Meaning, I'm replacing other parts I feel that need attention due to wear and tear.
As for the people who work there. No one is an ass hole really , but empathy and sympathy isn't something that's grasped there .As a result their customer service skills are horrible. They make it so apparent that they only want to deal with people who they'll actually make a profit off of.
If you want a quick job done, and you don't really care about the longevity , take it to Aamco. They can get the job done.
However if you want a decent level of customer service, do not take your car here.
The satisfaction that anyone has through their experience is either horrible or just content.
There are so many better options over this corporation, and particular shop. Just look around. read more
