I had an 8:30 AM appointment to get my brakes inspected. I arrived exactly on time and was told they would do an inspection and provide recommendations. Two hours passed with zero communication. No update. No phone call. Nothing. I finally had to call them myself just to figure out what was happening with my own car. They told me they would call back in 10 minutes, but instead I received a text message listing issues with the car. When I asked if any work had actually been done, they admitted only the inspection had been completed. The bigger problem was the employee John. When I asked when they planned to call me with the results, he became rude, dismissive, and extremely condescending, speaking to me like I didn't understand basic information. He said, "How could we call you if we weren't finished?" -- yet right after I called, suddenly the inspection was finished. The timing made absolutely no sense. I stayed calm and patient the entire time. All he had to say was "we're busy and backed up." That would have been completely understandable. Instead, he chose to argue and talk down to me. Then he said "Do you want us to work on it or not?" in an irritated tone and walked away while I was still talking. At that point I realized I didn't want these people touching my car. If someone treats customers like this over a simple question, it raises serious concerns about how they handle your vehicle behind the scenes. I strongly recommend avoiding this location. There are far better mechanic shops in the same area that actually treat customers with respect, including: * Stapley Car Care - Highly rated local repair shop with a strong reputation in the area. * AZ Automasters - Full-service auto repair shop known for working on many makes and models. * Christian Brothers Automotive Ocotillo - Well-known shop focused on customer service and transparent repairs. Many repair shops in Phoenix and Chandler offer brake inspections, maintenance, and repairs, often with certified technicians and full-service diagnostics. There are plenty of places that value customers and communicate professionally. Unfortunately, this location is not one of them. Daniel was GREAT from start to finish! I called for an oil change but I had other concerns. I recently lost my job and was trying to make a miracle happen and he truly helped. They did an inspection and he explained everything well. He also gave me some good advice and payment options too. The entire staff was nice and helpful. The wait was not bad and they moved customers out as quickly as possible. The waiting area was clean and close to a gas station in case you need to stretch your legs. Front desk lied to me. A few days ago I went in for brakes squeaking, he told me the rotors just needed to be resurfaced and the brake pads were still good. So they went ahead and did that with a brake flush. Went back today because they were still squeaking bad. He then says your brake pads need to be changed. These guys are a rip off. Be aware of them trying to add extra services. I went in for an alignment on a 2017 Lexus with 60K miles because I had new tires installed. Once on the rack they claimed I required new components in order to perform the alignment. I told them I was not interested and just do the alignment which they refused to do without the extra work. I then took the vehicle to Firestone for the alignment without telling them of my experience. Firestone completed the alignment stating the vehicle was not far off of factory specs and no other work was needed. The tech also added he was impressed with the condition of the vehicle. read more

I am EXTREMELY disappointed! I chose Break Masters when I was getting robbed at Huffs Automotive next door. I was quoted over $1,000 for front breaks and an oil change for my Range Rover at Huffs. So I decided to go to Break Masters next door. I thought I could "trust" them. Not the case! I took my Chevy pickup to them twice- if not-three times. So my last time going to them to fix an oil pressure switch I was quoted $1250.00. I became quiet over the phone when Ryan told me this. So with me not just saying "okay, fix it," as I have done in the past, Ryan then said," O, I'm sorry,. I was looking at the wrong amount." He then went on to tell me $950.00 FOR AN OIL PRESSURE SWITCH PEOPLE!!!! After the $950 price, I told Ryan I will call him back. I then went uTube and googled " How to fix an oil pressure switch." Saw this amazing guy take under 10 minutes to replace it. And it looked pretty darn easy! Naturally, I declined having Break Master fix my truck. I'm fact, they will NEVER touch my vehicles again! I went to AutoZone, purchased the switch, because I literally was going to fix it myself, until a kid at AutoZone suggested Jiffy Lube. Went across the street to Jiffy and was told it will cost 275.00 and that it takes 9 minutes to replace it. I agree. I was so happy. THEN... I realized that I had a number of a guy who fixes cars. His nephew gave me the number months ago! WOW guys, he came TO THE HOUSE - FIXED MY TRUCK- and guess what, For $100 BUCKS!!!!! He used the part I purchased at AutoZone. The part cost me 56 bucks. And with a lifetime warranty! Guys, I am tired of people taking advantage of us all. Do your research first! And DO NOT GO TO BREAK MASTERS !!!! I called the corporate office THREE TIMES because I want my money back for their ""diagnostic" they did on the truck $154.00 REALLY! REALLY!!!! And I gave them money before and they charged me to stick a dumb computer in my truck near my foot WOW! Good customer service is no longer people. I usually don't write reviews, but I wanted to say thank you because it needs to be said. I have been to four different mechanic shops since I moved to AZ and I feel I have been cheated in some way or another every time because I am a female. I was told I needed to get my brakes, transmission and cooling system flushed by the dealership, so I decided, again, to try an independent shop to get a second opinion. I went to the Brake Masters on Dobson and Williamsfield and John recommended I have what was called a Royal Flush which was half the price of the dealership! (Didn't tell him that.) What I liked most is they told me they did an inspection on the rest of my car and Ryan even said, "You don't need this right away, but you will in the next three to four months." They didn't try to sell me anything extra and I didn't feel intimidated at all. They both were really easy to talk to and not pushy, so I remembered their names to write a review. That's how comfortable I felt. I definitely will be back, and it is nice to FINALLY have an automotive shop that I can trust. read more

Check their work and make sure to ask for all old parts. I took my car in for maintenance last Feb 2023. Upon other services, I paid for new cabin and engine air filters. It's a year later and instead of paying someone to do it for me I decided to do it myself with the help of YouTube and Amazon. After removing the glove box and cover I was shocked to see there was no air filter in place. This means there is also a 50/50 chance there is no engine air filter as well. I've been driving around over year with no filter that I paid them to replace. If they forgot a to put a simple air filter back in its place, makes me wonder what else they aren't doing that I was charged for. read more

Was quoted $2,400 for replacement break pads and rotors and when I said it was too much, got brought down to $2,150. When I said it was still too much, got brought down to $1,800 after "talking to manager". What a scam. Pads and rotors range from $250-350 and take 3 hours MAX to replace, and that's being generous. They told me they charge $140 hourly on labor. What am I missing? Talked to my dad and he said this is a robbery. What a shady establishment. If you're a female, don't bother taking your car in by yourself, all they see is a big dollar sign as soon as you walk in. read more

Yeah, I just don't know about this place. I went in for an alignment and had a few issues. I will say, the staff is super friendly and accommodating and they wound up refunding my money but I kind of had to fight with them a little. They were so nice to fit me in same-day and the time they quoted me for the repair was accurate. Like I said, I went in for an alignment and they completed the work. As I was driving home, I noticed my car was going to the left when I kept the wheel straight, so I made a u-turn and headed back to the shop and explained what was happening. The guy at the front test drove it and said that nothing was wrong and to drive in the middle lane and see if it still pulled...so that's what I did and it did the same thing so I brought it back again and this time I suggested a test drive with the technician. The technician came out and asked for my keys and was like, "oh, you're going to come?!" I said yeah, I want to show you. So anyway he hopped behind the wheel and told me the same thing..."it's not pulling and everything is ok..." Frustrated, I asked him to pull over so I could show him. We watched as the car dashed across three lanes of traffic when I held the wheel straight. When we got back to the shop he didn't really seem thrilled but put the car back up on the lift. About 5 minutes later the manager comes out with a piece of paper showing me the numbers. I explained that I understood what the computer says and what the piece of paper says but the car is pulling to the left and it isn't right. He tried to blame it on torque steer...which is ridiculous. I told him that torque steer is only under heavy acceleration and the likelihood of it being torque steer on a Prius is ridiculous. I told him that I would bring it somewhere else, have it fixed, and dispute the charge. We agreed that he'd refund my money if another shop could do better. The manager said that I would not be able to do any better than what he was showing me. He wound up having to eat those words. Poor guy. On Sunday I brought the car to Pep Boys who showed it out of alignment on the left side by 0.06° and on Monday I brought it to Brakes Plus who showed it out of alignment by the same number. I had Brakes Plus perform the work and went back to Break Masters with this info and they refunded my money. Break Masters' alignment is inexpensive...I believe I paid $49.95 after a $20 off coupon but you get what you pay for, it seems. read more

I went in to get a quote on a fix for my grinding/squeaking breaks. Not including their "warranty" packages they try to sell, it would've cost around $2300 for everything they said needed to be done. I took my truck to Gary's Automotive Repair after. My front rotors and pads do need to be replaced, they're ordering and fixing the problem for $580. Been going to this Brakemasters store for some time now - '07 Silver Rav4. But on 5/17/22 I took the vehicle in for an oil change. After the service was completed, my car key was returned to me with the electronic fob piece missing from the inner assembly. I asked John (Store Mgr) & Chandler (Front desk trainee) as to what happened to my key. John conducted a semi investigation and asked his technician Fred (one who worked on my car) if anything unusual happened to my car key. According to John, his tech told him that nothing happened and that he had inserted the key to the car key hole in order to gain access to the car. What doesn't sit well with me was that John (Store Mgr) told me he had no reason to think his tech was lying. I've never indicated nor suggested his tech lied abt my car key being dismantled. I told John in a civil manner that my key was a whole in 1 piece when i brought my car for service. So someone may have dropped the key fob somewhere and it fell apart. Also i was in the lobby and watching my car when Fred the technician gained access to my car. No key was turned nor inserted into the keyhole meaning he gained access by not using the key hole in the door and i know i locked my door with my key fob like always. I have a Type A condition in which I am pretty organized and in order when it comes to my personal things and belongings. Within a few mins of looking around in the car shop bays with John, Chandler, and myself, John found the electronic fob part of my car key stuck underneath a repair order clipboard. I indicated to John and Chandler that this is bad for business. I mentioned to John that you have a technician that is not vey upfront with their actions. I also mentioned to John and Chandler that I don't take it well when the store manager tells me that he had no reason to believe his technician was lying when a full investigation has not been conducted and I never suggested his tech was lying in the beginning. Brakemasters upper management needs to have their employees including your store manager take more responsibility for their actions and false statements to their customers. Perhaps train to re-train your employees and have them take some sensitivity classes on dealing with customers and these kind of incidents. I wouldn't want any of my vehicle serviced by dishonest employees for safety reasons, financial reasons and a store manager falling short of taking responsibility for their store employees' actions, let alone their own actions. -jon read more

I took my truck in for front break pads. They told me that I needed to replace my rotors( f350 service truck gas with 43,000 miles) I read some of these reviews and I think they took me for a ride. items i had them take care of New front rotors and break pads Flushed break fluids Oil change Total $1180 after a "discount" of $200 I called around and the average for this complete job was around $1000. To top it off, they couldn't even put air in my tiers. My low pressure light was on. Wow!!! That was the thing to push me to write a review. That one thing shows lack of quality, so simple. I personally would not recommend this store location. Maybe the other stores have a little more pride in their work. The company is higher priced over smaller shops. I tend to try and do as much of the work on my vehicle as possible. A lack of time and motivation finally forced me to break down and look for an honest and reliable shop near my home. I needed a front end alignment, new motor mount and a gasket replaced. I had the parts for the second two items as I had intended to do the work myself. I was referred to this location by Discount Tire on Chandler Blvd to do an alignment. I was happy with the price and the work so I asked them if they would install new parts that I already owned. Most shops will avoid this which is totally understandable however, they agreed to do the work since the parts were brand new OEM. The price was very reasonable and they had me finished ahead of schedule. They were very professional and honest. They don't recommend unneeded repairs. Another shop, initials CB, marked up parts to 3x cost, and drastically over scoped what needed to be done. I have never had this happen here. I'm updating a former 5 star review to a 1 star review after my poor experience today. I've been a customer for 3 years.Today, I dropped over $500 for recommended services I was told were high priorities after bringing my car in 3 times this year with my car not starting intermittently, and btw before I even paid had to double check they performed all discussed work, which they did not. They failed to replace my headlight, which they didnt hsve the part in stock (was that in my paperwork? Nope. Proof right there they do not tell the truth and do all the work they say they do). Within 5 miles and 90 minutes of leaving the shop, my car stopped working completely, leaving me stranded. Of course, the timing is rather suspicious and incredibly frustrating. After having my vehicle towed there, (my tow guy tested both the battery and specifically said "clearly it's not your starter, because I hear it turning over.") I get a call that it is my starter and it will cost me an additonal $400+. Of course, not once did they take responsibility and called it a "mere coincidence sense we can't predict the future." For over an hour I explain to the assistant manager, hey...listen. I've brought my car in 3 times this year with the same problem and have followed all of your recommendations. Why is it not until now are you recommending the starter? Why has the starter not once been a recommended replacement when I've had this issue 3 times this year? As my mechanic and the sole place i take my car, I trust you guys to diagnose and keep my car running and now within 90 minutes and 5 miles my car stops working? He admitted they usually check the starter, but they never once recommended that part as a problem. They knew the problem was intermittent yet did not recommend the starter. Ironically after being towed they "banged on my starter a few times and it seemed to work fine". When I was told i could come get my car whenever i wanted, they still had it parked in the bay. Clearly shoddy work is being done here. A mechanic is a car doctor. It is their job to diagnose issues, and they failed hard and refused to take responsibility for it and blamed it on "pure coincidence." I think not. Whoever is running the shop has changed. Their service has gone way down and greed and gruffness is how they choose to operate their business. Instead of coming to a resolution, Judd much rather talk in existential circles than take responsibility for missing a diagnosis they should have caught at least once when they have had 3 different times to earlier this year. Instead, they tried to get more money out of me, talk to me like I was being rude and try to bully me instead of even looking up every visit I had. Highly disappointed. I used to highly recommend this shop, now I highly discourage anyone from going to them again. Even after ruining my day after spending the money i did, they would not even extend the courtesy of a pickup from my house because "they didnt feel like it now." Done with bully mechanics who lie, cheat, steal and have zero moral compass to do the right thing. Sad, because i trusted them for 3 years. Even left them 2 5 star reviews before. So I just wanted to stop in to get my wheel alignment checked because I've been noticing issues. I clearly told the guy upfront I just wanted it to be just checked and was told the check would be free. After being called up, the guy told me that my wheels were not aligned and that the mechanic already went ahead and fixed them...which made me confused because I never consented to my car being worked on... I just wanted them checked, like I said earlier. I've been to multiple auto shops before this is the first time something like this has happened. In the past, other auto shops have always informed me of the issue/s first before working on anything. Although Brake Masters' alignment price is cheap (49 something after a coupon), I didn't want to pay for something that I didn't agree upon. Initially, I felt bad about it, but then I realized that they put me in a tough spot and it wasn't my fault. If they had at least informed me before working on my car, I'd at least consider letting them work on it. If this the way they do business with customers, it's dishonest and careless (lack of communication perhaps). This was my first time here, and now it will be my last. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because it was a fairly quick visit and they respected how I felt and didn't force me to pay for it in the end. read more

Went out of town took a diffrent car came back tuesday started driving my car and guess what it was sticking and making more noise then when i brought it. Nobody likes to hear that awful screeching from your breaks going out on the car...all I hear is money...leaving my wallet. I stopped into Brake Masters and the guys were all very helpful. They did a complimentary brake inspection. It turned out that my front brakes were completely worn out. I didn't have time to get them fixed that day so they gave me a printed quote and told me to come back asap. I returned two days later and they remembered me and my car right away. I dropped the car off and they called a few hours later saying it was ready. They honored the original price quote and actually gave me a discount. They never tried to sell me anything extra.
