I have a Frankenstein truck (1968/1972/1982 - Chevy) that I have been working on. I took the truck to two local mechanics (A#MC and T&re Pros). Neither seemed to be at all interested in working on the truck. One of the shops actually said, "Your truck was made in '68 and my mechanic was born in '86." I was told to take it to a classic car shop. I found a HOT ROD shop in San Tan. They said that they could help. I skeptically agreed to give them a shot. They had the truck for over 6 weeks. I had to call once a week to get an update. Their customer service was apathetic at best. I assume that since I wasn't interested in spending tens of thousands of dollars rebuilding a hot rod, that they really just weren't interested. They charged $120/hour for 10.5 Hours to replace a parking brake assembly. A really bad experience. I had hired a handyman to do some work at my home and he say that truck. I told him the story and he recommended Matthew and his team at Brakes Plus on Higley and Chandler Heights. I limped the truck over on faulty brakes. Matthew said that he would take a look. They called me the next afternoon with their diagnosis. He explained the issue, what should be done to fix, the cost and the timeline. They ordered parts and a couple of days later (two days faster than the committed to) called and said that the truck was done. The brakes now work great and I can drive my cool truck around again. Pricing was very fair. They were honest and straight forward. The service was excellent. They were very knowledgeable and just great guys to work with. I will definitely be bringing my truck and my other vehicles back to Matthew and his team. I would strongly recommend them as a trustworthy and knowledgeable shop. Thank you Matthew.

I explained this upfront and still chose to proceed with a diagnostic to confirm the issue. I was quoted a flat $65 diagnostic fee by the owner with no mention of pricing ranges or tiers. I agreed and scheduled the service. The technician arrived about 30 minutes later than scheduled, which I was informed of ahead of time. During a brief text exchange with the owner, I expressed concern due to a prior negative experience with another company. The response I received made the interaction feel slightly tense, including being told I could "find someone else" if needed. When the technician arrived, I explained the issues and the codes I already had. During the inspection, the technician began deeper inspection work on the vehicle. I was not clearly informed beforehand that more extensive disassembly or work beyond a basic diagnostic could result in additional charges. Afterward, I was told the diagnostic would actually be $200 due to the depth of the inspection, despite originally being quoted $65. After discussing this, I was ultimately charged $75. I expressed concern that the pricing change was not communicated upfront. The owner later acknowledged that he should have communicated a pricing range and that this was a mistake on his part. I requested a copy of the diagnostic findings I was being charged for. The response indicated there was no formal report, but pictures and a summary were provided. Communication afterward included frustration from the business regarding the reduced payment, despite the pricing change being due to lack of prior disclosure. While I do believe the technician performed the inspection thoroughly and provided useful findings, the core issue was the lack of clear communication around pricing structure, scope of work, and potential cost changes before work beyond a basic diagnostic began. I would recommend future customers get very clear written confirmation of what is included in the diagnostic fee, whether deeper inspection can change pricing, and what documentation will be provided before service begins.

At the end of the service the price estimates were the same as the charges (not sure if it would ever vary or if they would call before if it was to be more) I appreciate the pictures they take too! Pricing seems to be fair and comparable. The service was excellent. Very approachable and patient as I had questions and concerns since I'm not familiar with car stuff. It's easy enough to find, squeezed between the sonic and gas station. You could probably wander around and sit other places if you needed to wait for your car. I definitely plan to come back for my future care services and recommend!

Took my '14 Coyote in for a dyno tune after I did intake, headers, exhaust, etc. Tiffany was super helpful and communicated very well through the whole process! They knocked it out quickly, did a full blown custom tune (not the copy/paste crap or email in tunes that other places use) and the car drives and feels amazing. Everyone there was super knowledgeable and friendly, and it was well worth the money. I took my 2003 Corvette to APA Custom after suspecting a blown head gasket. They diagnosed engine…read moreknock and recommended either a rebuild or a new GM LS engine. I chose the new engine. Initially, communication was good and pricing was fair with discounts When I picked it up my car on August 13, 2025, it immediately had issues to include not starting on the first start, A/C issues, rough idle, running hot, and a speed limiter error. The next day, they admitted to missing a vacuum hose and incorrect settings related to the shocks, which they fixed. However, the car continued running poorly, ran hot, and had ongoing starting issues. I returned the car on August 21st. They kept it for 10.5 weeks without resolving the problem, with very poor communication. Then they sent it to another shop (not one I approved) for an additional 6.5 weeks. After 17 weeks total, the starting issue was still not fixed. I picked up my car on December 12th and within miles of picking it up, the check engine light came on. A different shop I chose later, looked at my car for 15 minutes and found that the PCV system was installed incorrectly and the car still had a stock tune. After correcting those, the car runs much better, runs cooler, but the starting issue remains, and is most likely a cam sensor. Not only did I have to pay my car payment and insurance for the 4 months I was without my car, but I also had to pay another shop to tune it and fix the PCV system. I tried to address this issue directly with the owner before leaving a review, but he was defensive, and unwilling to work toward a resolution. I also submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau in hopes of resolving the matter. After spending thousands of dollars and dealing with months of delays and poor communication, I cannot recommend this shop, and I won't even use my loyalty rewards to get a free oil change at this point.

He was on time, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. He explained everything in a way that made sense, didn't try to upsell anything unnecessary, and made sure the job was done right. My A/C is now blowing cold again like it should, and the car is running perfectly. You can tell he takes pride in his work and cares about doing a quality job. On top of that, the convenience of him coming to me saved a lot of time and hassle. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and honest mobile mechanic work.

However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.
