I finally escaped dreadful California and moved here last year and started my search for a new shop that could service my Acura TL SH-AWD. This model is an extremely well performing car except for the dismal brakes, so I've been running some Rotora brakes for the past few years. They are aluminum billet, six piston fixed calipers with huge cross drilled rotors on floating aluminum hats. Basically Brembo CART knockoffs. These perform even better than the Brembo "throwaway" (i.e. un rebuildable) calipers on my Ferrari. Obviously, no shop is going to stock these parts, so I always have an extra set of pads and rotors on hand. I figured, "what better shop to visit to have the rotors and pads swapped out than Brakes Plus?" I walk in and ask the gentleman if they would be willing to install my parts. As an aside, I would never ask a shop to install my parts when they were also able to acquire them, that would just be unethical. As soon as the gentleman starts to answer, another older man steps up and starts treating me like I'm a 2 year old. The first man barely finished his sentence when the older man interrupts, "WELL HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU NEED NEW BRAKES???", to which I calmly replied, "my rotors are past the point of no return..." - "WELL HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY'RE PAST THE POINT OF NO RETURN???". At that point, I just said, "You know, no worries, I"ll take care of it", shook my head and walked out. I tried HonTech in (I think) Tempe(?) I'm still trying to find my way around. They wouldn't help me either. I tried another shop, "HonMan", in Tempe (by the college) and they were more than happy to accommodate my request. These guys are absolutely top notch. Prompt, honest, fair prices, Honda/Acura experts. I admonish anyone with a Honda or an Acura to pay HonMan a visit. More local businesses would do well to take 30 seconds to get to know their target audience before making assumptions. read more

showed up early for a 8 AM alignment appointment, car wasn't brought in until after 8:20 with me being the only person in the building was told they couldn't work on it after driving it, car now reeks of cigarettes from the tech who drove it, went to the Warner location after wards and they were able to do the service and get me in and out, would not recommend this location at all, would highly recommend saving time and just going to the one off Warner. read more

I scheduled an appointment at the 2525 S Val Vista location for an alignment check. The guy who checked me in was friendly and took the time to explain everything step by step. The crew was thorough and professional. The job wasn't rushed through. When complete, he even offered to check for coupons. That was sooooo appreciated! I have a Frankenstein truck (1968/1972/1982 - Chevy) that I have been working on. I took the truck to two local mechanics (A#MC and T&re Pros). Neither seemed to be at all interested in working on the truck. One of the shops actually said, "Your truck was made in '68 and my mechanic was born in '86." I was told to take it to a classic car shop. I found a HOT ROD shop in San Tan. They said that they could help. I skeptically agreed to give them a shot. They had the truck for over 6 weeks. I had to call once a week to get an update. Their customer service was apathetic at best. I assume that since I wasn't interested in spending tens of thousands of dollars rebuilding a hot rod, that they really just weren't interested. They charged $120/hour for 10.5 Hours to replace a parking brake assembly. A really bad experience. I had hired a handyman to do some work at my home and he say that truck. I told him the story and he recommended Matthew and his team at Brakes Plus on Higley and Chandler Heights. I limped the truck over on faulty brakes. Matthew said that he would take a look. They called me the next afternoon with their diagnosis. He explained the issue, what should be done to fix, the cost and the timeline. They ordered parts and a couple of days later (two days faster than the committed to) called and said that the truck was done. The brakes now work great and I can drive my cool truck around again. Pricing was very fair. They were honest and straight forward. The service was excellent. They were very knowledgeable and just great guys to work with. The guys running this shop couldn't have been more condescending and rude to us during what just so happened to be an ordeal they put us through. Like other reviews here, we came in for something that we were initially told would be no cost. We ended up paying $1400 out of pocket after they left the car in an un-drivable state. The guys had no remorse, or even sympathy, when telling us they don't stand by the quality of their own repairs either. It makes we wonder how a place can ruin your car, force you to pay, and take no responsibility for what happened on their watch. While explaining everything to us they appeared to think it was funny we had to pay as much as we did. Left my car with this company when I returned to pick my car up there was damage to my front end. They would not take ownership of the damage to my vehicle.Called regional manager over 5 times never received a callback. Call brakes plus corporate office never received a call back. They took my name number and information but I never received a call from anyone. I will never do business with them again I cut up my credit card, tossed it in the garbage. I as a customer spent over $5000 in workmanship and repair at their shop and this is how I am treated as a customer. I guess my next option is the better business bureau and small claims court to retrieve the payment for the damage done to my vehicle. read more

I waited for 4.5 hours and paid about $500 for my 2 rear brakes. about 2 weeks ago my car seems to be out of alignment when driving on the freeway. It wasn't like that prior getting my brakes changed. Customer service was very slow. I kept asking for updates and all they said was "all we can say is soon, however that means 30 mins to hours, no definite answer" I had to call out of work that day to retrieve my car. read more

The day before I left for a camping trip, I learned I had significant, uneven wear on my rear tires (caused by misalignment). I was able to get new tires, but I needed a same-day four wheel alignment before my long drive. Although I'm reluctant to go to repair shops I have no experience with, I called Brakes Plus out of desperation. I was surprised with how affordable the four wheel alignment was and how knowledgeable the guys were. My 4x4 Nissan Armada has an independent rear air suspension and although it is built on the Titan platform, there are major differences to take into account when aligning the rear tires. Many shops have completely botched the alignment due to a lack of knowledge. When I called the guys here, I could tell they knew every little detail. Matthew helped me out and was really empathetic and kind. I was taken care of within a few hours after my initial call. I only paid about $65 for the four wheel alignment! Compared to a few hundred bucks at the Nissan dealership, this was a steal! Matthew also gave me a graphic showing the various camber, toe, etc. measurements before and after. The great service and transparency is just amazing. Hours later, I hit the road to begin my camping journey. I couldn't stop smiling with how different my SUV felt - it was much more stable and controlled. I'll definitely be back! 10/10 job and customer service! read more

I had some brake pads replaced just over a year ago. I upgraded to the ceramic pads with a lifetime warranty. Recently I noticed a noise in the rear brakes when I braked. I made an appointment and took my car back in and spoke with Matthew. They gave me a courtesy ride back to my house while they looked at the brakes. I'm not sure what the issue was, as I'm not a brake technician, but Matthew took care of the issue under the lifetime warranty on the brake pads. Didn't care for this location. Customer service was less than great. Don't tell me you can fit me in real quick and then when I show up, you act as though I'm causing you a inconvenience. Then I asked if they had any deals going on. The guy at the counter acted as though that question was a inconvenience and speed through his answer. I had some questions about the oil I wanted to change to and same thing..inconvenience attitude. Don't think I'm gonna just drop my truck and not have questions. Or talk to you to get to know who is gonna be working on my truck. Then don't act like your doing me a favor when it's part of your job. If you do so choose to do a favor for your customer, do it from the heart. Doing so would not allow you to consciously throw it in my face. If not just do your job and charge me accordingly. Great customer service. They did my oil change on 2 cars of mine and only advised me on what i needed to fix. This is pretty rare and unusual IMO. I was expecting a call with a bunch of miscellaneous issues, however they only pointed out the pertinent item that needed repair.
