They charge even more than what my dealership would have charged for the same repair. Then they tack on a service charge for credit card payments which is crazy. My dealership does not do this. I doubt I will use them again as I noticed a huge markup on parts to go along with their hefty labor rates. Do your homework and see what the part costs at an auto parts store before agreeing to any price quoted by them. The worst Repairs Shop in Chandler. This is not the same Highland Auto that was owned by Virgil the new owner is Jason the worse business owner than I ever talked. My wife took our Kia Sorrento to have a diagnostic and they said that was the spark plugs after that they said that still having a misfire and replaced " one coil" the car is running worse now than before we drove it in. Craig the Mechanic destroyed the covers of the Sparks plug and lost the manifold intake support Bracket, I talked several times with the New Owner Jason and he promised me to find the bracket. The Guy is workless he has no word and now don't even answer the phone or text even though I gave him a ultimatum before I proceed with a lawsuit. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. While I was waiting for my wife to arrive and show the missing bolts and express my frustration because the mechanic also left a clamp loose from the antifreeze line on the antifreeze tank reservoir a lady arrived with a Huge leak of power steering and the lady told me that she just got the repair done the day before. DO NOT GO TO HIGHLAND AUTO IN CHANDLER on RIGGS. read more

Absolutely do not take your car here. I had to do my fuel pump twice charge me $980 all together they left my convertible top down on my classic car during a monsoon storm after I pick the car up and got it home I raised the hood and noticed that they left several things unhooked and just hanging there and for some reason pulled the carpet loose in my trunk and left some things unhooked back there wiring Etc took the car over to COBRA Tire in Gilbert Arizona they fix the car correctly including taking care of a wiring issue that started the whole thing to begin with they also put a new pump in for me and pressure regulator did a perfect job I've taken my car back to COBRA since and they've done an excellent job every time and they will not leave your car out in a monsoon storm with the top down do not go there and do not recommend friends I wouldn't take my car back there even for warranty work which I'm sure they won't stand behind . The only reason I'm giving it one star is because it will not process my reply it would be a zero otherwise. read more

It has been a few months since we had the car in this shop. We were referred here by another shop. Gave the symptoms ( AC did not work right, car idled low) and what we were looking to get fixed. Was given the rough quote. Got the follow up quote and approved the work and cost. ( AC component line replaced and recharged, spark plugs and wires replaced, and throttle body cleaned) We were told the car was fixed and all good. When we got the car back it ran a little better, but still had some issues. car still idled low, but was a touch better. So I took it to a different shop due to the fact that I didn't trust this shop and felt if I took it back I would open the money gates. I did have the AC looked at and again some parts replaced, But then the new shop was having issues getting the AC compressor to run the way it should and threw in the towel. This shop did not charge me an arm and a leg like Highland when they couldn't fix it, but only for the part and a evac and charge. I then found a shop that specializes in Auto AC. The issue was the throttle body was very dirty. HMMMMM I paid $1,200 for this and some other stuff at Highland. When I saw how dirty it was I knew they didn't touch it. Which makes me question the plugs and ac part. I can see the wires are new but probably the cheapest ones on the market. The fact that I was lied to is the major issue I have. I would never recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Cannot say enough good things about this auto repair shop!!! I know almost nothing about cars, so getting any kind of repairs is scary because I know I could easily get ripped off. That is not the case here! Virgil and his team are honest, hard-working, good people. I have brought two different used cars here over the last three years for repairs and Highland Auto has saved me thousands of dollars, no doubt about it. The location is nothing fancy, but don't let that deter you. You're not there for free coffee and wifi, are you? No - you're there to fix your car for a reasonable price. I recommend dropping off your vehicle and waiting at home/work/anywhere else. The "front desk" service is sparse... It's not *bad* service, but not good - understandable because Highland Auto's staff is small and everyone is always busy fixing cars. They can offer affordable prices because they aren't wasting money on a secretary or fancy waiting area. There have been instances where I've called to get an update on my car repairs, and nobody answers the phone. It can be frustrating when you're waiting to get your car back, but I'd rather deal with sparse service than a shady/dishonest repair shop. If you get a quote from another auto repair place, bring the paperwork here and let Virgil take a look. Many times he advised me that I don't need to do the repairs recommended by the dealer (where I take my car to get oil changes); he is honest about what work is critical and what is just cosmetic. If you have an older used car, it doesn't always make sense to do certain repairs. It is a relief having Virgil on your side to guide you through the confusing world of car repairs. Virgil always beats prices from other repair shops, so it literally pays to get a second opinion. Plus, he will do an evaluation for free! Highland Auto has excellent quality service and has my highest recommendations. I've done transmission servicing, drive rod, and engine mounts replacement with them and there has been no errors. They are very honest and upfront when it comes to fixing the right problem and quoting a fair price. This shop knows what they're doing and will not only fix your car, but recommend any future repairs without being pushy for sales. Change of hands took place and they totally screwed up my son's vehicle.....it took them almost 1 1/2 weeks to do a job that was a straight forward fix and they screwed the engine. I found Highland auto on yelp and I was not disappointed. I worked with Jason for a period of about 3 to 4 months in locating a new/used transmission for my vehicle. Jason went above and beyond in his customer service and in trying to save me money on my used car. He could have easily sold me on something more expensive but he didn't do that. I very much appreciated his honesty and integrity. He was very conscientious and kept me in the loop as far as the progress on my car throughout the whole process. Been taking cars there for years, so had no problem getting starter work done. They never called to give me an update. Had to rent a car, as I need to go to work. So 5 days later, (kept calling but could not get through) drove over and found that the car was not finished, as the starter still did not work, and was told they "might have to drop the transmission" which would cost over $1K. Charged me $600 for a starter that didn't work right. Not saying the cost was wrong, as it may cost that much to fix it - however no call back in 5 days to let me know how it was going? And does it really take over 5 days for a starter? read more

Virgil, the owner, is an incredibly fair and honest man. He brings integrity to the auto repair business. My parents had recommended Highland Auto to me on his account, but it was not until this week that I understood why they trusted him so much. Just the other day, I approached him about a water pump (and belt) that broke for the second time just 15 months after they had replaced it. I didn't notice until 3 months later, and I showed Virgil my two receipts. He dealt with the situation very graciously and fairly. Although he and his son (a co-manager) are men of few words, they speak with their actions, which is infinitely better. I am wearied by car repair centers where the managers talk a good talk (like the "business men" they are) but do not follow through with actions that help me, their customer. Virgil and his son do not have silver tongues; I appreciate their straightforwardness that speaks through their actions and decisions (not the comforting/manipulative dressing that other repairmen put on actions that hurt their customers' pockets). Though their prices are not tremendously low, they have terrifically fair policies and they "put their name behind their work" (hold themselves accountable). I started taking my vehicles to this shop about 6 months ago. I can say without hesitation that this is the best auto repair shop in the East Valley, maybe the entire metro Phoenix area. They're neither cheap nor expensive, their prices are right where they should be considering a full-fledged shop with extremely knowledgable mechanics. They can pretty much fix just about anything. I have sat there watching them in action and listening to Virgil talking to customers and calling parts stores on a couple of occasions while waiting for my car to be repaired. They are not out to screw you, Virgil - the owner - is fair, reasonable and has a good head on his shoulder. He is also a very caring person. He's also very personable and has some rather amusing life stories. I never saw a single person come in and start getting into anyone's face about "bad repairs" and if there is an issue, they are going to deal with it directly and immediately. I, like probably everyone else, have taken my vehicles to shops that were definitely out to screw you. Add this and that and make up charges for work that wasn't done or work that didn't need to be done. You are NOT going to find this kind of stuff going on at Highland Auto. If you are female, I can only say that this is the place to take your car if you don't want to be intimidated by high pressure shop managers who will try to convince you that you are going to die if you keep driving your vehicle the way it is. Took my GMC Yukon here to get my transmission flushed and have the filter replaced. It only cost me $120 vs. the dealerships that wanted to charge me $400. Additionally, the Yukon was veering slightly to the left, so I asked them to look at that while they were working on it. They weren't able to do the alignment there because of the 20" rims, but they referred me to a place that did it for fairly cheap. Downside: waiting room is tiny, and there's no wifi, which is annoying when you're waiting a couple hours. read more

These guys are the best. Less expensive than anyone around ...by far. Plus they don't try to upsell you on unnecessary repairs. I have NEVER received a bill from Highland that was more than the estimate. Actually, it's often below the quote for the repair. And no I'm not related to anyone there and have no ownership stake. After BMW North Scottsdale told me there was something wrong with my oil tank and was going to cost me over $900 I took it to Virgil for a second opinion.
