I was VERY hesitant to bring my car here, but I remembered that I brought it in once before and you were honest about my brakes. SO----despite all the bad reviews I had great service here. Again they were honest with me, told me just the front brake pads needed to be changed, the back ones still had 20,000 + to go yet..........they easily could of told me they both needed to be changed and hardware etc, but they didn't. Brakes and oil change and done on a busy Saturday afternoon...........AWESOME. I have no complaints about Brakes plus, I've had nothing but good service and honesty here. read more

I have always had good service with brakes plus from Arizona to Colorado and felt that they were trustworthy until now. The business in San Tan Valley has totally changed that for me. I took my expedition in on the on the 8th of August for a brake problem of which I explained that the pedal was kicking back and it was affecting stopping power. They called me the next day and said it was ready to go and the problem was the speed sensors. I drove the 8 miles home with no problem, parked it went to work the next day. It is 9 miles to my and I made it safely. When I left work to start my route i thought things were fine till I came to the first stop sign. When I started applying the brakes the pedal kicked back up and then nothing. I had to swerve to over the curb to avoid hitting the car at the intersection. I the vehicle towed back to the San Shop where they had it for two days. When the shop manager called and said they had road tested it and couldn't find anything wrong I said okay and picked it up. On the 8 mile drive home at each of the intersections (2) the pedal again kicked back and when I stopped at the house it also pulled to the right and the grinding noise was louder. They want me take it back and test drive it with one of the techs. Does that mean they didn't test drive or just don't know how. I am out $537 for a brake repair that wasn't done correctly and a vehicle that I can't use until I take it somewhere else to have it repaired right. So if if you plan on taking your vehicle to Brakes Plus in San Tan Valley, Az, consider this a warning and go to a different shop. read more

I will never go here again. They ripped me off and never fixed the problem that I originally came in for. When I took my car back and told them I'm still hearing the squeal in my brakes. They said they didn't hear it wanted me to drive my car around with them. After asking the guy five times if he heard it, he finally said okay let's go back and have another look at it. They then looked at my car again and said that they will cost me another 160 to change my front passenger brakes when I've already spent over 400. read more

Took our Ford Explorer there to get brakes. At first I was a little skeptical based off of reviews but the brakes were $100 cheaper than the ford dealership. I spoke with Kerry a couple of times and after speaking with him I felt comfortable taking our vehicle in. My appointment was set for 11am and we dropped off the car at 8:30. I got a call around 10:30 from them. Alright, this is where I would come to expect the typical, we found this wrong, and that wrong, it will now be 8 times as much as quoted. NOPE! In fact, Kerry stated that we still had plenty of brake pad left and that the change didn't need to happen. It would be based off preference only. What?!? Total honesty. I really did appreciate that. Price is cheap, work is shoddy at best. Found my upper control arm bolts finger loose a few months after taking it there, thought it may have been coincidence. Took it back for alignment, asked if they followed the torque spec and was assured they did. After they performed the alignment I brought it home and checked it with my own torque wrench. Surprise, that thing was absolutely not even close to being torqued to spec. Not only would it have caused alignment problems when it came loose again but it is completely dangerous. I will never bring my vehicle back here again. If they can't even torque a bolt correctly, no telling what other things they are doing. Guess they follow the old saying you get what you pay for, hence the cheap price. Pay a little more, go somewhere else. Terrible! Got my brakes looked at a year ago. Went to a different place today and they measured my rotors there. They called me asking where I got my brakes done last because it looked like they turned my rotors and the measurements aren't to safety standards. don't go to this place if you wanna get rape . came in ask for alignment they said 85 plus tax . they called me back saying i have air suspension and camber that they charge more for, i paid 362$ because my car was already there and i had a bad alignment didn't wanna risk driving it far. then i got my car back and a light pop up on my dash board and it was abs brake light on . it was messing up my driving because the brakes was automatically braking here and there . they said they didn't have nothing to do with it and they didn't work around that area that had any sensors . and they couldn't fix the problem unless i pay 99 dollars plus tax for a Dyno testing , and they couldn't fix the problem after . they said they couldn't do anything about it only if i paid 99 dollars , they didn't give me a refund for my alignment or didn't even wanna try to fix the problem they made . they were not professional at all. bad service . ripping people off with prices ! I took my car here to get my rear brakes replaced cause they were squeaking really bad. After they had replaced my pads the noise did not I'm prove and progressively had gotten worse I took it back for them to inspect it to make sure all was good. They came back and told me it's cause I needed to put a better quality brake pad. The noise is now a grinding noise. I'm sure no matter how bad of brake bad they use it should never cause a grinding noise. Place was cheap people were nice but the work is terrible if they even did any work I doubt it cause there is no improvement to my car or the noise I took it in for originally. I will never go back and will never say anything good about this place. read more

We are new to the area and did not have a mechanic to service my car. When the mobile mechanic was unable to make our appointment, I found brakes plus through Google. I was able to get a same day appointment at a convenient time. Robert was my service advisor and was excellent. No attempt to "hustle" me when I came in or when he called me with the diagnostics. In fact, he went out of his way to offer me the current coupon specials that I did not know about. My car was ready sooner than expected. Jeremy was the service advisor that completed my transaction and was equally terrific. I will go back to Brakes Plus whenever I need service for my car. We brought our Saturn in here once but never got past the front counter because the manager, (I'm pretty sure his name was Adam), was so ungodly rude that we left. I am pretty certain his name was Adam, although it could have been Robert like the other user said. He had dark hair, a handle bar mustache and shaved his arms. I actually called corporate on his ass regarding his nasty attitude problem and was given a freebie. He explained everything in great detail and helped me to find the best options for my service. I seriously could not be more pleased with my experience at Breaks Plus in Gilbert. They literally won over my business from a different place I've been getting my car serviced at for many years. I contacted them because I received an email with some coupons and knowing I needed new breaks, I wanted to see how competitive their prices were. I was pleasantly surprised with the cost and decided to take my car there instead. If that wasn't enough to be happy about, they were also able to take care of my oil change, they reattached my rear view mirror that kept falling off, and they were able to fix my air conditioning that head a leak. Not only did they offer me the best price for all of this work, but their customer service and professionalism was second to none. I worked with John who was incredibly friendly, informative, helpful and genuine. It was evident that he really cares about his customer's experience. Thank you Brakes Plus for being an honest repair shop. I'm certain their service man could spot me a mile away as having no knowledge of brakes, shocks, thermostats, and pretty much anything else on my car, but I am happy to report that I didn't get the old "whammy" as other shops had tried earlier this week. Pep Boys told me I needed over $3000 worth of "stuff" done and found out all I really needed was a front end brake repair with rotors. I have to say I got a great education too, and that is always a good sign when a repair shop will stop and take the time to explain what you do need, what you could have done if you want, vs what you really don't need at all. Do not use this location! They will get you in the end always. There will always be another problem with your car. You will not know it of course, but they will find or manufacture another problem with your vehicle. I brought my car in for one thing, my rear motor mount. They diagnosed a different problem for $400.00. They said it was much better. Got my car back after paying and not the tiniest bit of improvement was made. They stated that this is where they thought they should start and told me so. I received another quote with my bill for $800.00 to have the 3 motor mounts replaced. Why not start with what I thought was the problem? After speaking with a couple of different people at Brakes Plus, there was no attempt to make this right or even a little better. You will, as I do, feel cheated after they complete your service. If not the first time, I promise you they will get you eventually. Oh, please do check out what you pay for the parts they use and then check out online how much they really go for. WOW! Listen, they are not completely honest and integrity is not in that shop. I went in a few months ago to have them replace a fuse because my headlights were out. The mechanic at the front desk stated that there was a problem with the wiring and he'd have to have it looked at so they could find which wire needed replaced. He quoted me an hourly rate and didn't know how long it would take to find. I went with my gut and took it to a gas station garage instead, they replaced my fuse and my lights have worked ever since. These guys are scammers. Don't trust them with anything but an oil change. read more

Avoid. They just destroy your car. Rear brakes were not even working after taking it in and told by Chase, with an extreme cocky attitude that is how it is suppose to be. We bought the car new and know what wrong feels like. Had to take to the Honda dealership service to redo their crap fluid flush (that left the brake lines full of air) and repair the wheel stud they felt they needed to destroy and not even show us (wheel stud was fine when we took the car to them). I have been dealing with them, exclusively, for 15 years. They have always been honest, fair, and even generous in their dealings with me. I would not go anywhere else. Recently, however, my car was totaled, and I was car shopping. I brought the possibilities to Break's Plus, and they were thorough and helpful, above and beyond the call of duty. In one case, they steered me away from what would have been a terrible buy. With the one I purchased, they performed work and waited for me to actually buy the car before billing me! Their help has been of inestimable value in replacing my car. If I already had not thought them to be the best, which I did, their efforts in the past few days have been made it even more obvious. Honesty goes a very long way in the service business. I had my old Tacoma into AZ Automasters a couple weeks ago for a bunch of services. They told me that the front brakes were 90% gone and that they should be changed out. Their pricing seemed high so I did the other stuff and didn't do the brakes. After doing an internet search for good brake work pricing, I landed on Brakes Plus on Warner in Gilbert. Went over there and told John what the first shop had said. He asked me for 10 or 15 minutes to check everything out. His mechanic called me back and showed me the brake pads. They were nearly perfect. The back ones were getting about 50%, but the front ones had almost no wear. WTH! I was prepared to pay for the job and wouldn't have even questioned it. I wrote a "Google" review on this business several months ago. I gave them a FIVE star. I have a Hyundai Genesis. After several bad Hyundai Dealership experiences I decided to try and service. I was wowed by John the service rep at Brakes Plus. I took my car back from brakes. I had the front brakes changed at 100,000 miles. I expected at 130,00 it was time to replace the rear. John (my service rep) took me around the car and showed me my brakes and the life in them and assured me that I still had good brakes when he could have changed them and I wouldn't have known any better. I wow and have been back. I decided to have my front struts done. A high price item. My expectations were met. Again, wowed by John. I had an issue with the smart key portion of my car and having to open the truck with the valet key. Brakes Plus diagnosed in minutes and I was embarrassed to discover that I had made an error and switch on the valet switch in the glove compartment was engaged. I'm due for another service on my high mileage car. Brake Plus will get my business. They understand my car better than two dealers. read more

Took my car in for oil change and 60 thousand mile check up. The next day I couldn't get the car to run over 30 mph. Didn't flush the system right. Had it in for radiator and hoses. Still don't know if that what was wrong, but cost me 1300. A week later it wouldn't start. Had to have it towed, and towed it to dealer. Kia said my comprissor was going out that's why it was making a noise. Found out that there was parts missing on my car that brakes plus never put back in. Left out the cabin filter and the tray $130, a high pressure hose cap, and put the wrong fluids in the car. This all cost me 1200. Did get them to replace the cabin filter and tray. Ok, I'm a female and know nothing about cars, but come on! Three times in this place and 3 times its worse than when I took it in. read more

I went in because my car which is a manual was not shifting into gear -- it turned out to be the shift cable. After i got my car back it swiftly devolved into not being able to shift properly again so I brought it back, they corrected the problem with no charge. I felt they were very honest and also great attitudes, great with customer service. I live nearby and so I had decided to walk home and the shuttle driver ran after to me to make sure I knew I could've had a ride! Everyone was nice and polite and informative. I was very happy with my service there even though the first repair needed a repair -- that is just what happens sometimes. It's not whether or not you make a mistake, it's how you handle it when you do! I trust Brakes Plus and I felt that this location is like a local home town shop although it is a chain. Went back to this location after staying away for over 2 years when I found out previous managers were no longer there. I went in for service and informed the service man I wanted to use a competitors coupon. He rudely said that the manager was on the phone and he had to ask him. 10 minutes later, he came out and said " what is it", I informed him that I wanted to price match a competitor and he said very rudely I had to go get the coupon. This place is great! I took my car for a brake inspection and they took it in right away. Within a half hour I was told what I needed and explained in detail. I asked if they could repair my brakes that same day and they said "yes". I even took it in later in the day after work. I like that fact that they are not super pushy and honest. Stick to only oil changes and alignment here! Recommended shocks on my vehicle, which I thought was odd. Informed shocks should be replaced every 50k, which I have never had a vehicle that has need shocks that did not have over 100k. Luckily I said I would think about it and turns out that I had one tire wearing incorrectly due to alignment and the other three were close to the wear markets. Never informed that I need new tires as I am at the wear mark. They said it was only a recommendation for shocks, but to a consumer they are trying to sell services that are not needed. The price was very steep at first, but after a bit on inquiry I was able to get around $100 off the total for a basic package. I am very pleased for their honesty and hard work. Avoid this place at all cost. I wish I could give them zero stars. Took the car in for a basic oil change and 3 days later the car is smoking horribly under the hood. Check the oil and the dipstick is bone dry. I check the oil filter they replaced and it's not even hand tight, it's just loose. Get back to my apartment and there's a trail of oil and a puddle from where the car was parked. Really? You can't even get a simple oil change done right? Why would anyone trust them to do their brakes? read more
