Box City is located at 1230 East Colorado Boulevard Pasadena, California 91106. If you need boxes this is the place to find them! This location has a great selection of boxes for any occasion. What makes it very nice here is that they also have incredible service. They will be glad to help you through the selection process. Bubble wrap, packing peanuts/foam noodles, and packing blankets are available for purchase. Everything you need to pack and seal your boxes. I was very impressed with the selection of tapes and labels that make shipping easier. They even had large rolls of brown paper for purchase to help wrap your boxes properly. There were a number of staff members working helping other customers making selections using the computer to print out labels, and helping customers load their selections into their cars. Eddie was a great help and pointed out the types of boxes that are usually selected for moving. I've always come here to select my wardrobe boxes for packing clothes. They are a timesaver! This is the perfect place when moving or shipping anything. With their great service and helpful assistance this is a place that I will continue to support. read more

Who knew buying boxes could come with such great customer service? I've been shopping at Box City in Pasadena for years for packaging supplies for my business, and they've always been wonderful! I know they've been under new ownership for the past couple of years, and I'm happy to say the great service continues. Today, George went above and beyond! I was in a rush, and not only did he help me find what I needed, but he actually helped me pack my item AND print my shipping label. At this point, I was ready to put him on payroll! Seriously though, he was so genuinely kind, patient, and helpful, and I appreciated it more than he probably realized. It's those little acts of kindness that make such a difference, especially when you're having one of those hectic days. They also offer wholesale discounts for businesses, which is another reason I've continued shopping here over the years. Great selection, great people, and customer service that makes you want to come back. Thank you, George, for saving the day! read more

Update: I called as the response said and left a message. No response. Went to the shop and they told me nobody monitors the yelp. So, Seriously, these guys suck. They'll troll you if you have any issues with their business and present as though they care but they don't. Just this shop though. The Pasadena one is fantastic and the employees are knowledgeable, and nice . But because of this shop, we moved our business away from box city entirely. We used to buy hundreds of boxes but this behavior is unacceptable and underserving of patronage. read more

Super expensive now unfortunately. Used to be a convenient option for me. Now I just shop online or other local shops as many retailers offer free shipping, better quality, and lower prices. I think the new ownership messed this place up, they need to go back to their core values. 1.5 stars. Will update if this place improves, but I highly doubt it. read more

I recently placed an order on Amazon for a water system machine that had a high price tag. Initially, the employee was unable to locate my package. After some time, he finally found it and proceeded to scan it. Unfortunately, during the scanning process, he inadvertently dropped the package, causing it to fall off the counter. As a result, my machine has been damaged. The individual who dropped my package was a bald-headed man wearing glasses. I believe that his actions resulted in a significant inconvenience and damage to my order. I strongly advise against visiting this place, especially if you're picking up your Amazon order. read more

I had the best experience here. Wendy (the manager) helped save me money and I'm eternally grateful to her. This company employs great people who care about the service they provide. Love this place. Boxes of all sizes and packing material. For moving, gifts or storage. Great service.

I had to go to the store and retrieve the box after paying $128.00!! Never use Box City Pasadena to ship. Go directly to FedX or UPS or USPS. This bad business has caused horrid damage to my reason for shipping !! Do not trust this busines!! the oy thing they did was give me a refund WHICH I DESERVE but nothing else!!! Bad!!!! read more

I do have an update on Box City in Pasadena. I do not know what happened but it was for the better for sure. The place is now cleaned up and very organized. Now even though one person is still there that was very rude, but now they seem to be more professional and respectful. Whom I think is the new manager is very professional and courteous as a store should be. It no longer feels like a two bit operation. Koodles to whomever took over, thank you. Now if the prices could be lowered just a tad it would be perfect! read more

i went to the Pasadena location wanting to ship a letter-size package priority overnight to Arizona. they very firmly quoted me $243 to do so. it took me a minute to get my jaw off the floor. other options that they gave were equally horrid. i went down the street to another fedex ship site, per their suggestion, and got the task done for $58. Box City should not be considered a legit fedex ship site. talk about crooked! read more

Great reliable local store for my small online business. I run a small online store RC's Kawaii Stop making plush doll bouquets and the bouquet wraps are basically delicate floral wraps. If I didn't have the proper box size, my bouquets can shift around and wrinkle and if they're too tight the bouquet can also get all bent and wrinkled. As a small business I can't afford to buy tons and tons of boxes online just yet and I don't want to order the wrong sizes from Amazon, so I'm very thankful to have found Box City. I come with a few measurements each time and the number of boxes I need. I usually just go straight to the guys that work there and they swiftly zip around the store grabbing me exactly what I need or something close to my measurements. It saves me a lot of time. I really like the mix n match discount as well. The more I buy the more discount I get. There's parking behind the shop as well as fairly easy street parking. Thanks guys! read more

When I walk in, the guy so really nice and helpful! He helped me found all the different sized boxes I needed quickly. The prices of the boxes were fair. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends! read more

They are always so helpful and nice. Prices are very compatible to anywhere. I would highly recommend this place to anywhere else!

Recently I needed to ship out several smaller items and I didn't want to buy all these package items on Amazon or eBay because I don't need 25 or 50 cardboard boxes. This is where Box City comes into play. Not only does it sell bulk package items at a discount, you can actually buy just one cardboard box (obviously slightly more expensive if you just buy one - got a 5x5x5 box for $0.69). Free 2-day shipping for Amazon? Well how about just drive here and get all of supplies you need on the same day? The store has all sizes of cardboard box that you can imagine. You can also find biodegradable peanuts (a bag of small Styrofoam popcorn for $1.98), air bags, bubble mailers, tapes, foam pouches ($0.55 each), gift boxes, etc. The staff was very nice and helpful. This is truly a heaven for your last minute shipping needs! P.S. - There are a total of 7 Box City locations in SoCal. read more

If you ever need anything wrapped and packed perfectly, this is the place to go. Reasonable prices. They'll even ship it for you. They have dish boxes, specialty boxes, custom fit made boxes, and everything to cushion your valuables' ride. Great owners. Greater employees. Cannot tell you how much I've used this place for "just the right box" in the past 11 1/2 years. THANK YOU!! Stephen? My husband Gary will be there in the next hour or so for a Dish Box (Lenox) and a nice shipping box for family pics, memorabilia, and albums. Guarantee you he's going to need some help. I know you and you've got this. THANK YOU! read more

went in to build a box to ship an assemblage sculpture. Talked with the boss and two workers about my needs, what I was boxing for shipping, shared a photo explaining what it was. Boss says they can do the job, will wrap and build container for shipping and will ship it for me too. Asked me to come back with the art. Which I do. When I get back to the shop with the sculpture, it was as if I had never been there. The guy working the counter couldn't figure out what we needed. He measured the art piece, grabbed a box and then proceeded to tell me that shipping was going to be expensive. I acknowledged this. I tell him that I am a professional and understand the expense of shipping art. He then asked if the art was fragile. It is. And then he refused to pack and ship my art insisting it was going to break. No discussion about how solid the piece was built. Nothing. A big waste of our time. (An hour to run back to the studio, get the piece and come back.) I could understand it if I was a jerk. I wasn't. I was treated like one, because a kid working the floor was overwhelmed with my project. And that's a shame. Guess I will use an art shipping company instead. They won't break the art. read more

WOW! I just visited Box City. I go regularly for all my boxing, shipping, packing, and moving needs. They just did an amazing reset of the space and it is fantastic. Also a much needed redo of the staff. New sharp, helpful, super customer oriented team members helped me with everything I needed. They wore uniform polo shirts and were extremely knowledgeable. Before you would get a grunt greeting, maybe. Big shout out to Sako and Jordie. They were both amazing, and they double teamed me on answering questions. Funny thing, the reset now better showcases everything they offer. Stuff I thought was new was reg merchandise that I couldn't see because of the clutter. Now you get a clean, bright, fresh looking environment. It makes me want to come back. BTW, they have great gift boxes in all sizes, from tiny jewelry to big stuffed animal sizes and tissue. You won't find everything for gift wrapping but you will find a lot. Mostly packing and storage and shipping items. read more

Who knew such an extensive box store existed!! I needed a box for a pair of boots. I was afraid I'd have to buy an overly large box because of the bulky/awkward size, but Box City came to the rescue! They have HUNDREDS of box sizes (but not all are carried in store - you may need to order online) and I managed to find one that decently fit my shoes. They also have boxes for TVs and computers. Prices are okay - my box was ~$7. They also have basically anything else you could need to ship a package. If you need a weird size box, GO HERE. read more

What happened to this place. It use to be great. Currently, I'm not impressed. They don't sell individual envelopes or small plastic envelopes. I can't come to this place anymore because they are limited on inventory. Very disappointing. What happened to this place. read more

I needed a large number of boxes. Box city popped up on Google. When I called the sales man was cheerful and helpful. For $3.60 a box I could get my needs met. When I got there I realized that box city is brown box heaven! They have everything a small business or moving family could need. Boxes in 50? Different sizes, bags, packing materials, foam, tape, you name it! The prices are reasonable and the staff was very helpful!! I have found my box Mecca! Visited the Pasadena location today and it appears they are making positive changes. The store is on its way to being more organized and less cluttered. I also noticed better lighting. Honestly just with those changes it looks more inviting. I can only assume that new management is also involved with these changes. I look forward to coming in again to see how customer service is when it is busy. I hope this review isn't premature and I can give more stars next time. read more

I have used the pasadena store for many years but this is probably the last time. The price shown online for the box I needed was $4.92. At the store on the shelf it was $6.52 and then I was charged $8.24. That's a big difference. On top of that I was charged for a box that I didn't buy. I didn't notice this until I got home. I'm not going to waste the gas to drive back. I just won't be a customer in the future. read more

I was charged for the price of a bigger box today. Glad that I found out before I left. Last time I was charged for double the quantities of the boxes that I bought. I also found out when I paid. Are box city employees always trying to over charge customers?? And think they won't find out because everyone sucks at math?! Very dishonest business!! read more

If you ever have to come here make sure Jose does not answer the phone he doesn't understand how measurements work and he might make you drive a hour for no reason. Rude employee. When I entered from the back, one of the young male employees was blocking the walkway since he was trying to tape up some boxes. I was in no rush so I wanted to let him finish and not interrupt him. I'm confident he saw me too but another employee told him that there was someone (me) waiting and that he should move. Instead of apologizing and whatnot, he starts saying "well he should have said something, geez. Don't just stand there." I was trying to be courteous and let him finish his job first but I guess that's just rude to him. Never coming back. read more
