TOTAL FAIL. DANGEROUS. Came in to get experts to help protect our painting under glass. Paid $600, waited 6 weeks, and the frame lasted 6 hours hanging on my wall - not exaggerating. THANK GOD no kids or pets were passing by when it came crashing down. The sad part is the owner doesn't feel the need to take any responsibility - blaming everything from Indonesian forests to the gallery and has the audacity to expect us to pay to fix it. Do yourself a favor and get your work done at literally any other framing store that has an ounce of integrity and won't rob you and then endanger your family. read more

Holy cow these guys are AWESOME!!! My boyfriend has come here several time for custom framing for some pieces in our place, but this was my first time joining him. I was soooo impressed! The Pasadena location is tucked away in the courtyard behind La Grande Orange. There is plenty of parking in the garage or you can try to find some street parking up the road a bit. We came in here with several pieces we wanted framed in matching frames. I can't remember the associate's name, but she was fantastic. She asked us what style we were looking for and the colors in the office. Within minutes she lined up several options that were all awesome! I never could have looked at all those frames and mats and pulled those options together. It was so difficult choosing the one we loved the most! The associates really have an amazing eye and are truly artists. Yes, it's a little pricey, but it's really worth it to get a frame that makes your art shine and pull the room together. We'll definitely be coming back and recommend Ballard's to anyone looking for quality framing. read more

Ballard's did a wonderful job framing my slightly worn concert poster and concert ticket for posterity. When your nephew's band is on the same bill as Leon Russell, that is a moment to preserve. Dec 2018 we left 8 original prints for framing. first week of January we were informed they were ready. They looked great, except when we went over every piece upon taking delivery in the shop we noticed one was damaged. There was a large dent in the paper. It was right at the boarder of the where the copper plate and the paper met. When the person working the shop that day noticed , they offered to have an art restorer work on the piece. It really is not an ideal solution as now we have a damaged print in the pretty frame. If we ever choose to Sell this print as part of a series , one is now damaged but restored. It has now been 3 weeks and a few phone calls later but the owner will not call us back to discuss out options. over all i am deeply disappointed with their professionalism. I understand people make mistakes, it happens. But at least follow up to correct the situation and not just ghost your customers. read more

This review is long overdue. Ballard Framing, located at the Pasadena Del Mar Gold Line station, is by far the best framing company I've ever encountered. Aaron, Christa and their associates are a pleasure to deal with, and have a great eye for what works best with each piece of art. Earlier this year I brought in several classic film posters, from the the 1940s and 50s, some of which were 7 feet tall, to be hung in my stairwell gallery. In each case they came up with the perfect frame for each piece. And some small handpainted European artworks, acquired some years ago, were perfectly matted and framed. Most recently I acquired an original French poster from the early 1930s, and once again they helped me pick out just the right frame, which truly enhanced the artwork. Ballard has a second store in Echo Park, run by the same consummate staff, so whichever is closer to you, do not hesitate to employ Ballard for your framing needs, large or small. Reasonable pricing and turnaround time too. read more

Let me start by saying that I'm a huge fan of Ballard's. I travel for work and always invest in a nice piece of art and this is the only place I would trust to frame my artwork. I have brought in a few very challenging and unique pieces, wether it be the shape, material or my vision for the piece and I'm always met with enthusiasm and a "let's do it" attitude. The finished product has always exceeded my expectations. I have been to both locations and am equally thrilled with both. In my house I have at least 10 pieces framed on my wall. they do incredible work and have never been remotely unsatisfied. I am also an artist and I use Ballard exclusively for my own artwork. I was delighted by the service here! I brought in print to be framed, and Aaron was patient and helpful in showing me options that would highlight the colors in the painting. When I went to pick up the job, I noticed a minor problem with the print. Although neither Aaron or I could remember whether the problem was preexisting when I brought in the print or whether it was damaged while in his care, he quickly offered to fix the problem, and did an impeccable job in doing so. Poor communication and did not deliver in time. After deciding to splurge on a holiday gift for my husband, I chose Ballards. My order was placed early December and frame was not finished until the 27th of December (my order stated that it would be ready ~Dec 20). My calls were never returned. Frame was decent (although pricey), process was pleasant with framer, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend this shop. read more

Best service, amazingly skilled and talented staff, and the friendliest people on the planet. They earn your business in an earnest way. I've had Aaron and his echo park team frame several pieces for me and they've not disappointed. They pay such attention to detail and will not stop until the customer loves what they've created. They want to hear the story behind the art and try to recreate the feeling in their presentation. I needed two very large expensive pieces of art framed for my partner's birthday but the day we went over to their echo park location, it was closed. We noticed that their newly-opened store in Pasadena was open and ran over there before they closed. I love the vibe of the echo park shop but the pasadena shop, with its high ceilings, natural light, and openness was awesome. It's in the same little shopping area as the train stop and is as charming as it gets. You can park underground and when you take the elevator up to the street level, they're off to the left. Christa was working that night and spent over an hour with us helping us pick out the perfect frames. She hit the nail on the head in a matter of seconds. We had a blast picking out the frames and she had the patience of a saint. She worked so hard to have them ready for me to pick up on my partner's birthday as opposed to the standard pickup time. In fact, she came in on her day off to make sure they were finished in time for me to pick them up. When i saw them I nearly passed out bc they were more beautiful than i could have imagined. Christa texted me to let me know they were ready bc i was flying in from Denver. I got to see Aaron (the owner), whom I just love and he agreed with how amazing the pieces looked. Always a pleasure to see these guys. Their energy is just wonderful and their passion comes through in everything they do.
