Just had this piece framed here and couldn't be happier with the work that was done!
Whitney W.

I had a painting framed here. It was a fairly large piece and the paint was very thick. It needed finessing so that the glass would not touch or disturb the work, but the framer I worked with was confident that he could complete the task. And so he did! I could not be happier with how my work turned out! When I first took my piece in I was given a lot of options for colours, matts and frames. He was patient as I picked out what I wanted and gave feedback as we went along. Since it was a large piece I knew it was going to be expensive, but considering what I picked out and the materials that had to be used, it was actually reasonably priced for a custom framing job. The work was even completed early. I am happy with the entire experience here. I can't wait to hang my piece on my wall and I will definitely be coming back to have my other work framed here!

Joe is a real professional, and very careful and diligent in his work. He's a treasure to have him here locally in the Pasadena area.

Very nice and fast for my little job. I broke a weird shape piece of glass in a frame, and they repaired it in an hour at a good price. :)

Based on the fantastic award-winning framework featured on their walls, I decided to just leave the decisions to Joe.

I invested in a large-scale, editioned photographic print by a UK photographer I deeply admire. It was expensive, but incredibly meaningful to me, something I expected to treasure for the rest of my life. Because of its size and value, I wanted it framed properly, and I deliberately sought out professionals I believed I could trust. I knew this wouldn't be cheap, so I waited and saved specifically for this. The print arrived carefully packed from overseas. I didn't even open it myself. I contacted The Framestore ahead of time to confirm they could handle framing at this scale and was told confidently that they could. An appointment was booked. At the store, we met Bryan, who was friendly, enthusiastic, and reassuring. I have very little framing knowledge, so I leaned fully on his expertise and followed his guidance on every decision. What's important to say here is that pricing was never discussed at any point during the process, not once. The print was unwrapped during the appointment, which made the situation feel irreversible. At the very end, Bryan presented a final number and asked, bluntly, "How do you want to pay?" When I expressed shock, the response was simply, "It will be beautiful." I felt put on the spot, pressured, and honestly foolish, but at that point, backing out didn't feel like a real option. I accept responsibility for not asking about pricing sooner, but the lack of transparency felt deeply uncomfortable. Still, I tried to move forward with optimism, trusting that the cost would at least result in museum-quality work. When I finally got the piece home, that optimism collapsed. The print was covered in visible ripples, creases, and pinch marks, as if it had been mounted on crumpled paper and handled roughly. It looked genuinely awful. The corners of the frame were also poorly joined and visibly open. I contacted Bryan immediately. He was calm, almost unsurprised. Photos were taken. I later received a voicemail saying they saw no issue. That response was frankly shocking. Emails went unanswered. Phone calls went unreturned. I eventually had to stay on the phone with Bryan while re-sending images just to get acknowledgment, and even then, there was no accountability, no apology, and no ownership of the damage. I returned the piece to the store. Again, everyone was pleasant, but no one could explain what had happened. Weeks passed. After repeated follow-ups on my end, I was told they would re-frame it and that vacuum mounting could fix the damage. At this stage, the store had had my print for nearly three months. Still, no apology. No discount. No recognition of the distress or inconvenience. When I collected the piece again, it was improved, but far from resolved. There were still visible ripples, a noticeable smudge or finger prints on the inside of the glazing and surface issues. I sent photos. I called. I followed up repeatedly. Eventually, after months of trying, I gave up. This experience started with excitement and trust. I was happy to pay a fair price for expert craftsmanship. Instead, I feel taken advantage of, dismissed, and made to feel stupid for trusting professionals to guide me. I'm left with a damaged print, a poorly finished frame, and something I now feel a bit embarrassed to display. I will likely have to save up again to have the piece de-framed and fixed elsewhere. The saddest part is that every time I look at it, I'm reminded not of the art but of how badly this experience went.

What a wonderful place to donate and find crafting treasures. Remainders is a craft thrift store…read moreand the only one I'm aware of that functions like this. I wish there were similar stores in San Diego as well. It feels like it would be difficult to find a specific thing that you had in mind, but if you're open to being inspired by what's about, this is an excellent place to start. I bought a number of (older) crafty books for $1 a piece and am looking forward to exploring them all.

Beware: Rude staffers with atrocious customer service skills and manners…read more My Experience: At the checkout counter one young staffer was yelling over my shoulder at patrons in the store: "You ALL need to stop shopping and get in line!" I pulled out my phone and time said 5:53 pm and the store closes at 6pm. Maybe if the staff shopped at a TJMaxx or a Target they would learn how to make the announcement with much more finesse. I did see a few women in the store do exactly as she asked...they stopped shopping, left their baskets full of items, and walked out. As I was headed out I was in a conversation with another employee as one customer was still paying. Next thing I know behind me another employee grabbed me by my shoulder to usher me out because she had to "lock the door now." Rule #1. Don't ever, ever touch a customer. I calmly left thinking I would never hire these employees...but I would recommended them to a competitor. I did not realize Remainders operates as a non-profit organization that doesn't need customers or revenue. I will patronize other small businesses and donate our corporate items to them instead.
