    Bins of used supplies

I've been wanting to go to Remainders - a center for creative reuse - for a long time and finally made it today. It was mobbed! But fun to take a look around. If you're a crafter you will probably find something there. I admit I am spoiled by ScrspSF but even though I didn't find anything at Remainders I saw other people did and there was quite a line at the checkout. Everything that is kept out of the landfill is a good thing. If you live in Pasadena or close by and you craft it's worth a look.

What an amazing find! Remainders: why aren't you everywhere?! You keep beautiful craft supplies out of the trash and you bring the community together! I first heard of Remainders via my Buy Nothing Group in my neighborhood. I am emptying my late mother's craft room and Reminders is the perfect place to donate! The process is so easy: once I parked on the street, signs are clear to go to the donation door up the driveway (more parking available there). I dropped off, you have the option for a tax receipt and I took one. I had to check out the store and it blew my mind. Think of a craft Goodwill - not only do they have patterns, fabric, yarns, string, but paper supplies off all kinds from nailing supplies, cards for every occasion, scrapbooking supplies, stickers, washi tape, maps and old photos (10 very each)! The prices are fair and clearly marked. Staff is friendly and on a Saturday, pretty crowded! Follow their social media for more!

I'm so disappointed that I don't live closer! We drove an hour to visit to see if I could find scrapbooking stuff and I wasn't let down! There is so much and it is a bit overwhelming, but so fun! You could spend hours there if you looked through everything they had! Everything was extremely well priced. I'd definitely stay away on a weekend because it was a bit packed but you could still look around and take your time. Staff were friendly and they are organized! Parking is in the back and it's limited. Overall, I'd definitely come back and hope they open one closer to me!

Wow! I am so thrilled to have found this little gem hidden in Pasadena. This thrift store offers tons of craft supplies for very cheap prices. They have everything from paints, clay, fabrics, crafting tools, jewelry, beads, paint brushes, stickers, scrapbook stuff and more! Their pricing system is awesome and ranges from 50cent -$3 and a few things above that price. You do have to dig through bins but they have everything labeled. I have been back multiple times and now I'm hooked. This place is great for kids doing projects for school or crafty people who love to make things. I was not disappointed. They are closed on Mondays though so keep that in mind when u want to stop by. The service here is always friendly as well. They have a section in the back where u can donate all ur old crafting supplies. Definitely recommend to check out.

This is my second time coming out to Pasadena just for Remainders! As a frequent crafter (sewist, knitter, scrapbook journalist and general hobbyist), I was delighted to find out this shop existed through social media. First things first, this is located on a street with free 2 hour street parking available on both sides and there is a side street with free street parking available that you can park and walk over. Remainders also hosts community events like art shows, has art classes available, and has inspiration for crafts all throughout their store. They also advertise local community events on a bulletin board making it a staple in the Pasadena crafting community. I'm always on the hunt for cheap supplies since art projects absolutely add up and quickly. Price wise, this place is THE best craft store you can and should stop into before going elsewhere to see if they have supplies you could use. You name it; they have it or have had it in the past. Supply varies as they depend on donations but with some supplies I bought costing just a quarter, I truly cannot be mad. They have yarn, paper supplies, knitting supplies, beadwork items, sewing supplies including patterns and zippers and sewing feet, stationary and scrapbook/journaling supplies. I absolutely recommend any crafters on a budget to come out here. I do think this place is organized to the best of its ability and I think for the price, you can afford to browse around. My purchases today for a total of approximately $2.50 included: 3 different bias tapes for sewing, a washi tape for journaling, 1 piece of decorative paper, 2 stamps. Considering 1 bias tape alone traditionally costs $3, there truly is no better place to look for cheap supplies.

An incredibly well organized art and craft thrift store. All of the staff are so nice and everything is priced very well. Come here first before you start a crafting project and you might find what you need for a great deal. I got a nice bunch of items for only $4.14. They accept donations on specific days only.

Remainders is such a hidden gem in Pasadena! It's a creative reuse center filled with affordable craft supplies, donated materials, and secondhand treasures that are perfect for artists, makers, and small business owners like me. I love that they make creativity more accessible while also helping reduce waste. You never know what you'll find fabric, paints, trims, buttons, beads, and so much more. I've only been one time but can't wait to go back and see what else I can find. The space is well-organized, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's a great place to get inspired, stock up without breaking the bank, and support a business doing good for the community and the environment. They also offer community classes as well for various skill levels. And I believe they also have classes for kids. I'm always big on needing to know where I can park when visiting somewhere new. So I want to include parking in this review. They have a very small parking lot. This is also where you can go to drop off donations. I wouldn't recommend parking here because of the size and it's likely being used for drop offs. I also would want to make sure I'm leaving space for their volunteers and staff. It's also shared with another business. They currently have a pinned post on their Instagram with parking info as of the time I am writing this review. Definitely pay attention to street signs as it relates to parking. When we went on a Saturday early afternoon and it was already pretty full in the lot and at the immediate street parking. We parked in a quiet street in the neighborhood which gave for a nice and relaxing walk to and from the store. I set a timer for the duration indicated on the parking sign to be sure I didn't violate any parking rules of the neighborhood. Whether you're a hobbyist, teacher, small shop owner, or just someone who loves crafting, this place is definitely worth checking out! I can't wait to go back!

Currently Shorthand has 3 locations - Highland Park, Larchmont Village, and San Anselmo. This Highland Park location is the flagship location. [Parking]: There are plenty of metered parking spots and paid public parking lots, but parking can be hard to come by during busy shopping seasons. [Selection]: The shop offers greeting cards, pens, notebooks, pen, pencils, gift wraps, etc. I like the greeting card selection a lot better at Shorthand, but I didn't see too many Valentine's Day cards. The shop was a lot more colorful than Crush & Touch as Shorthand organized pens and pencils by color. They also sell really neat hand drawn Highland Park and Eagle Rock maps. The shop also sells various colors of ribbon per yard and gift wrap. Each color of ribbon has a slightly different price. I actually got a red tight weave ribbon for $1.75 per yard and the staff even gave me a slightly extra length. [Gift Wrap Service]: Customers can purchase gifts in store or bring them in from elsewhere. In general, regular (one sheet) = $8, large (two sheets) = $14, and extra large (three sheets+) = $20+. [Conclusion]: A really cute stationery shop with all the supplies for gift wrapping.

I came here with my draftsman, a guy who still draws by hand -- a dying breed in a world that runs on Ctrl+Z. Watching him walk these aisles was like watching a monk in a cathedral. Every shelf, every pen, every tube of paint is curated chaos. And the best part? The staff actually care. They know the difference between gouache and watercolor -- and they don't judge you for mispronouncing it. Friendly service, clean restrooms (a small miracle in Los Angeles), and a selection so deep it could inspire Picasso's ghost to start over. The class was scheduled for 2 hours. We ended an hour early with an end product that was a bit underwhelming. Our instructor was friendly enough, though never introduced herself nor took the time to ask the class (all 3 of us) our names. I wrote a letter to the owner and never got a response back. Highly unlikely I will return. Below is the letter I sent, including a few other underwhelming aspects to the class: "Hello! I took last evening's Macrame Weaving workshop. As I was driving back to Long Beach last evening after the class, I had some time to reflect on the workshop. I signed up for it to learn a new skill that I could potentially teach my students. (I've been an Art Teacher for many years). Unfortunately, I feel very disappointed with the class as a whole, as well as with our end result product. I believe the owner was there last evening; I regret not having pulled her aside to chat, though I wasn't quite clear on how I felt about the class until I was on my ride home. Our instructor was very friendly and I so appreciate the use of the high quality organic cotton cord. I also appreciated the hand out with the images of various knot styles. However, I don't even know what our instructor's name was. She never introduced herself or asked our names - there were only two other participants besides myself. We ended class nearly an hour early. This feels like a waste of project making and learning time. Either the project we did was too simple or our instructor wasn't thoroughly prepared. Her instruction was okay, though I don't think it is very helpful to physically do something for the student which she did a number of times. I believe it is more helpful to walk them through it verbally while allowing them to do it to experience the motions and acquire muscle memory. Craft is a great space! I wanted to share my thoughts because I think the class I took last evening could be improved upon for future students. Thank you for reading, Ivette"
