This is a review of sewing class 1 It was just 2 hours but I feel like I came out with a fairly good knowledge to do some basic sewing on a machine. They go through the anatomy of the machine and then you get free time with scraps to try as you like! The teacher walks around helping and answering questions, very attentive. I also appreciate that the machine they teach on isn't outrageously expensive and you could actually get the same model. I'll be back for sewing 2 next time! If you're an adhd crafter this place is for you!! I can't tell you how I've jumped from craft to craft and then splurged on new materials just to have them sit in a corner of my house. This place has so many craft items from stamps to threads to even cricut machines!! And the price is amazing!! So well priced and makes crafting fun without worrying about breaking the bank. I just started machine embroidery and went to see if they had what I was looking for. And they did!! I did have to do a little searching since embroidery thread can be mistaken as regular thread. I came looking for a specific thing and didn't find it but I could've spent forever in there looking at everything. The employees are very nice and helpful. First time visiting after my DIL discovered this place from an Instagram post. We would be in the area and put it on our list to stop! Parking is in the rear and just a few spots but we found a spot. The outside is unassuming but we were wowed! So much to peruse and of course we found lots to take home with us. Scraps of muslin and bolts of fabric too. Trim, trim, and more Trim. I went in for my first time today with my daughter so she could get some yarn. We were helped by a lovely, charming, intelligent woman who chatted with us amiably and advised my daughter to accept my offer of paying for the yarn! She also explained the origin of the store and how they got grants to pay for it. I found some astonishing books on stencils and art history for CHEAP. This place is great! I went for sewing patterns, a few zippers and yarn. The sewing patterns were .50 cents each, and there's a huge selection. The yarn selection was pretty good. They have a full a bag for $15, and I got a bunch. Probably could have gotten more. And I needed zippers, they were $1 each or 6 for $5. They had sooo much fabric! They have trims, elastic, paper stuff, buttons, markers. There's a lot of different stuff, and some types of things, like belt buckles, they have one little box of. Was looking for some yarn and this place had plenty. I would say that on a sale day at Joann, the price is pretty similar so if you don't mind waiting for a sale, I would pass on the yarn here. (In case of pet or smoke sensitive customers, you don't know where the yarn is coming from). They are very organized and all the yarn are in labeled bins according to color. Great for a last-minute project though. Lots of paper crafts, fabric, gadgets of all sorts a crafty person never knew they needed. Used to have friendly older ladies who run the store, but now it's run my younger women who have poor customer service. This one Caucasian lady enjoyed chit chatting with other customers while you wait in line for them to finish. And when you do bring the items to the counter, she overcharges you despite the labelled price. The stuff they sell is still fairly cheap but some art stuff there are just slightly cheaper than retail.. They still have a lot of random things, but it's definitely not what they used to have.
