They also have cute merchandise and snacks. I bought Harry Potter, Hermione, and Ron HARIBO from there. Currently, they have Spring sale on some items. They offer discounts for members too. The employees were very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. It was very convenient to park our car in the parking garage across the street and walk around in the area. Support brick and mortar art stores!! As an online sloth queen, deciding to wear pants and walk into Blick just made my whole weekend special. Everyone there is super helpful and probably an artist, I'm thinkin'. I walked in for Blackwing pencils and left with like 6lbs of stuff (we go by the pound right?) Gorgeous Stabilo pastel pencils, Arches watercolor paper, tiny canvases for mini paintings, the list goes on and on. Notable surprise was how many gifts there were, like the front of a book shoppe. So many beautiful papers from Italy and France. Endless good times. Keep them alive!!! read more

Blick has a great selection of art materials, even some more niche options! Price wise, their stock is a bit mixed. I saw items, like the acrylic paints, that were priced at an absolute steal. In contrast, some of the harder to find options like drafting pencils were overpriced compared to other local stores. The staff I spoke with were great! They seemed genuinely interested in projects as well as greatly knowledgeable on a vast number of artsy topics. Total fan of Blick Art Materials especially this on in Old (Town) Pasadena aka my very first location. It's near a lot of other great spots (Neon Retro Arcade, House of Intuition, etc.) that I support when on this side of Greater LA. I've found some great deals on artists pens, art kits, cool gifts (explore the misc.) and all the things needed to get that creative outlet fix. The isles are spacious enough for one or two at a time and the customer service is stellar off Raymond Avenue with easy street parking (metered) or a big public parking garage directly across the street. I take Metro often and it's only a five minute walk from the Metro A's (Blue) Memorial Park Station making it easy to explore hassle free... Except when you want to purchasing everything! Check out their in-store only promotions (some goods ones currently on water colors, sketch pads, tracing pads and drawing pencils to name a few). Their website is a great resource for online shopping at this location where they also do Shipping and offer a Pickup Order list they will prepare for you (set your date of choice, follow all steps and make sure your cart is at least at the minimum for this as they can charge a small fee if under $49 currently - they can also only hold it for a limited time due to demand and spacing). This was a huge store with a big selection of art supplies. The service was very helpful and friendly. I'd highly recommend this place.

Arrived around 6:40, soon as we walked in we noticed two of the employees hovering the entrance. They we're making conversation with one another not greeting or paying attention other than what they felt important with one another. We found our products and proceed to a rather long line. The lady at register even asked if any of them could help assist which they acted if they didn't hear the cry for help and continued the conversation. Once we made it to her she was rather polite and said sorry for the wait. After our purchase as my family and I made it to the door, mind you they had it locked around 7pm letting one customer out at a time, they never greeted us a farewell and gave us attitude as we needed to say excuse us to get around them to exit. My wife even expressed the concern to them as we made it out the door and they slowly shut the door nodding as if they heard her but didn't take consideration to the issue they Presented. Outstanding Service from Joanne! I can't say enough great things about the incredible service we received from Joanne. My daughter and I came in with a massive list of art supplies for her upcoming college courses and absolutely no idea where to start. It was overwhelming, to say the least. Joanne was the only associate who noticed we were clearly struggling and immediately stepped in to help. She didn't just point us in the general direction she walked through every section to find all the things my daughter needed. She was knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly patient. 1/7/23 Was in the area & hubby was on the hunt for his Iron Gall ink. We were directed by staff at Vroman to check this place out for the ink. Why didn't we just call ahead instead walking over a good 15 minutes? Not sure. Long story short, we were here about 3 minutes, hubby asks if they carry the said ink, "No?" Okay we're outta here. I barely had enough time to browse or take photos of the cool things they had. We walked out & I walked into I Like Pie next door--what a nice find! One of my bookmarked places! Love it! I was looking to frame some paintings on canvas and after researching frames on their website - decided to go to the store to see them in person. I got great service from a couple of gentlemen- one told me where to see the frames and mat boards. The other rang us up and after checking for any discounts, let us know we had the best sale price already. One frame was not in store and I ended up ordering it online when I got home. They have a ton of mat colors - but some looked a little old, so take a good look if you buy one. The prices ranged from @$6-$23 per sheet. Nearby parking structure is $1.00. read more

Alright, the fact that the store's website is dickblick.com kinda made me do a 180. Thought it was a bait link leading me somewhere sus, it's not though lol! I'm not an art person by any means, so we mostly went to this shop for someone who is an artist within our friend group. Aisles are denoted by signs at the top for what supplies they have and each sign is artwork done by staff I'm sure with the medium for that aisle, which I think is pretty neat! Along the walls are also pieces of art to look at and an upstairs as well. They have their own line of art supplies along with some well-known, well-loved brands. The store mainly focuses on art supplies for 2D styles, but there is an aisle for sculpture making. There's something for every level artist here from children to hobbyists to people who want something therapeutic to do and to the true professionals. There's also a clearance section at the side of the shop and some art themed and random neat, humorous knick knacks in front. Staff is pretty helpful too. If you're an artist, it's worth taking a look at. I believe they have a newsletter/membership too. read more

This was a cool art shop that we stumbled across while wandering around the city on December 31st. We along with many other new customers were in the area for the Rose Parade the following morning. They are in a great spot in downtown Pasadena among other cute shops, cafes and restaurants. We browsed around the two-story shop, but didn't pick up anything. They seemed to have a great selection of your usual art supplies. Definitely worth checking out if you are into that kind of stuff. We will definitely be back whenever we're in the area! read more

Im kind of tired coming here and always getting looked at. I always come and spend a decent amount of my hard earned money and today I just had a horrible experience. I went in to buy portfolios for lithographs I picked up over the weekend and I was racially profiled. I went to the checkout and heard my cashier being told by another man that was upstairs where I was to look out and when I looked up he was looking at me. Its not the first time I've been profiled but I come here a lot and it really sucks to come into a place where u want to go and spend your money for them just to turn around and insult you. I was just going to leave but I needed these portfolios for my prints. Im going to start looking for a new art supply store. read more

There's been some changes at this store both in the way the staff treat customers as well as the physical layout. I called today looking for a specific mechanical pencil. I made sure to ask about the price that was shown on the website which was $4.01 per mechanical pencil and asked if this was the same price in the store and was assured it was. So instead of purchasing it at Michael's which is where I was at when I called Blick's, I drove all the way to Raymond Av to purchase about 5 of them there. Had to pay for parking and all that. Well, I was clickbaited, because once it was time to pay I was charged over $7.60 something per pencil. When I pointed out that the website shows the price to be $4.01 and that I was assured by the guy on the phone that this was going to be the price in the store I was given some spiel about how shipping is factored into the price online .... bla bla bla bla....all AFTER the fact that I had already made a whole trip to this store AND paid for parking only to pay a slightly HIGHER price than I would have paid at Michael's. Needless to say I was not very happy. They USED to honor the actual price on the website, but buyer beware. You will pay the regular price in the store now, and the website price is just clickbait. On top of that, even though I gave the guy my loyalty program phone number, when the total came out, to $44.46 for five mechanical pencils, I questioned that total since the math did not add up. He told me that this was the correct price and expected me to just pay up. I asked to speak to a manager and the lady standing next to him who had been silent the whole time said she was the manager. So I asked her to take a look at this, and come to find out I didn't even get my Blick's loyalty member discount. Sure glad I didn't take his word for it and asked for a manager. So at least I ended up getting a teeny weeny discount, but that web price was straight up CLICKBAIT. Anyway, the manager told me that the web prices factor in shipping and that's why I'm having to pay full store price anyway. Her explanation made no sense, since I was already there picking up the item and no one had to ship anything to me. In addition, I brought up the fact that I have always paid the website price on any item that I purchased at the store and this is all new changes now. They acted like they didn't know what I was talking about so be aware that this is probably one of their new changes too. Website prices are NO LONGER honored in the store, at least not this store, at least not today with my purchases. In addition, they have changed the entire layout of the store, so now it looks and feels more like a grocery store with the aisles being very long and no longer intuitive like they were before. I USED to be able to rely on what I was told on the phone by the staff there, but this is no longer the case. Also, I get an apathetic vibe from the staff, which is sad, because I used to encounter some really cool, enthusiastic and knowledgeable folks there. It's what made me just stop by a lot to browse what was there and to be able to ask questions in confidence. But after today's experience I don't think I'll be so quick to come back like that, unless there's something absolutely specific there that I cannot get anywhere else. I certainly cannot rely on anyone to actually tell me the real price that I am going to end up paying once I make a trip there. Wasted trip, wasted gas, wasted time only to end up paying MORE than what I would have had I just purchased at the store I was already at to begin with. A great place but a little chaotic. Loved the amount of staff walking around and helping you, all very knowledgeable on the supplies as they are all artists too. Got great information from the manager regarding the process to display artwork in the store too. The only thing I did not appreciate is one employee following me and asking me multiple times if I needed help, hopefully he/she did not think I was trying to shoplift, also the cashiers are inside of some square but no clear line or direction of where to line up so people just scrambled to check out. read more

Maybe she's a racist i dont know, but as a supposed "associate of ten yrs" she should act better or dedicate her service outside of customer service because what the hell was that treatment. The worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. I bought a can of Montana Gold spray paint that turned out to be defective. It left a splatter finish even after I cleaned the tip. The manager wouldn't exchange the can because I had used some of the paint. I had to buy another can at a discount. Unbelievable. My part has to be stripped and repainted and I've wasted hours dealing with this. It's no wonder everyone is shopping online. read more

I've been going to Blick in the store and online for years. They have what I need. Blick is a staple in my art budget!

I'm so done dealing with the Blick staff. I've been coming here for years but I find that every time I do there is the same mix of pompous, apathetic, uninterested staff that will either obsessively follow you around the store without actually helping you or are just too self-important to be bothered with helping you. Either way, the service is some of the trashiest I've encountered in a while. There is one guy in particular, an older skinny white guy who is always there who thinks it's funny to sing obnoxiously loudly as he walks the aisles (think cat with laryngitis in heat). When I make eye contact after being startled by the screeching of his "singing" he just laughs and carries on singing even louder. He clearly enjoys being unprofessional, obnoxious, and incompetent. This place feels like it's where the outcasts from high school all went to work, stayed, and never grew up. The staff all seem to hate being here and often make it clear they can't be bothered to offer any kind of help. If they do they often act like it's such an inconvenience to do so. Think loud sighs and rushing away hurriedly. Mostly the staff just congregate in the aisles bullsh*tting so loudly that everyone can hear their business. The cashiers always seem overwhelmed and often speak in short bursts of minimal communication. In the five years I've been coming here I've never encountered anyone who was truly warm, sincerely friendly, or genuinely helpful. They act self-important and cliquey and need to remember their job is to help customers. read more

I have not been here in years, but it is just as amazing as I remember. Blick has every possible art supply you can think of. Every brand of paint from acrylic, water color to oils. They have every brand and kind of marker from sharpie to posca and all in between. Blick has aisles of paper, canvas and sketch books. There's a huge selection of cutting supplies, rulers and compasses. Blick also has an extensive selection spray paint in every type and color imaginable. There is even a fun selection of souvenir items from butter notepads to miniature sketch books. They have a frequent buyer and teacher discount. I came here to buy watercolor supplies for my niece birthday. On a Sunday afternoon in September, I came here with her list. It is across the street from the parking structure and has big sign up to 70% off. I went inside and lots of art supplies and tried to look for particular color and brand. I couldn't find it so sales clerk tried to help me and my sister and it appears they don't it in store so suggest to buy it online. I've been racially profiled here the last few times I've come here. Whether the employees are white or brown or black, they have no qualms about staring at me from the end of an aisle or trying to appear casual as they follow me and ask me multiple times if I'm looking for anything in particular. I'm tired of it. Just today one of their female employees stared at me and my brother from the end of the aisle, silently for several seconds, as we looked around and talked about an upcoming project. I'm sure it's management making the employees do this but that doesn't make it any less dehumanizing nor does it quell my anger. It feels especially performative when you consider how they have a painting of what looks like a protester up and yet if you're a shade above cream they're going to be sure someone checks up on you to make sure you're not stealing. I guess artists with melanin don't exist and we're all here to steal. Do yourself a favor, support businesses like Artist and Craftsman Supply or Top's Art Supply instead. At least I don't get racially profiled there. read more

Seniors 'Beware'. As an Architectural Designer, licensed General Contractor, & Real Estate Broker, for 30 years I frequented Blick of Pasadena on Raymond. Never again! Their customer service verges on 'Senior Abuse', so if you do not wish to be treated rudely with a lack of respect, find another source of Art Supplies. Blick needs to take a page from Starbucks or Home Depot's book of customer relations, because right now the staff, 'including floor managers', stinks. I found this lousy attitude to be the case at Blick, whether early on a Saturday morning, or during the week. Furthermore, their prices are outrageous! Recently I needed to replace drafting paper, and for 50 sheets of an inferior quality their price was $40. Later that day at FedEx, I found and purchased a 500 page packet of the quality I needed, for $14.23 (including tax). Today I attempted to show the 'behind-the-counter-staff' the difference, so they might include this brand in their inventory, and all I got was a rude response. I will never shop there again, even if I need to drive across town. Who needs their rude behavior toward customers, or us 'seniors'? read more
