So I was in a bit of a jam and rush as I did not anticipate being in need of storing my belongings somewhere any time soon. That was until my brother up and moved out of the unit I had subleased to him without notice. I had minimal time to remove the few large items and boxes of mine he left behind. Fortunately, i received a response from the kind people at Storbox the only day I had left before the land lady was going to have everything junked. I feel terrible for forgetting her name but the very courteous, professional woman at Storbox that greeted me was a real life saver. It was late in the day, they were open for 1 more hour and she was able to go over contract details, storage unit sizes/prices and standard grounds procedures/protocols so efficiently that I was still able to return to my new unit within operating hours and achieve my goal of having all my items safely and securely relocated by the days end. There are multiple storage location options in Pasadena but Storbox was the one to come through in my time of need and I can confidently recommend this location without a doubt. read more

During that visit we learned more about the facility and did not realize the extent of the security measures that are enforced daily. Each unit is visually checked to make sure the locks are correctly secured, and surveillance cameras continually monitor the hallways. While we were there, new AC units were being installed. This place is slightly cleaner than other facilities but that's about it. Billing is a bit shady, they just charge to your account but don't send any invoices or receipt, which I don't even know is legal. I was surprised to see they charged $12 more this month- obviously they increased the price and notified that to me by snail mail which I didn't receive. Why sending something like that via mail and not following up with the email? Needless to say this was the second price increase in about 6 months. When I spoke with the staff over the phone they simply said this is MTM contract and they can change the price with a 30 day notice. Well, that notice was not properly delivered. Improve your communication instead of being shady about billing. read more

This facility is deceptively large. Summer is the busy season. Interior units are tall (something to consider in addition to the floor dimensions), clean, and lighted. The climate control keeps temps in the 70's, which can be important for your antiques and soft goods. We are one year into a rental and moving to a larger unit. They will try to upsell you (sort of like a rental car agency) with very expensive options. But these are easy to decline. Overall a satisfied customer review. read more

After doing a lot of online research and checking local storage facilities, I chose STORBOX Self Storage in Pasadena. The hours for entry are very good. I have been using them for over half a year, so I am comfortable in providing a review now that I have enough interaction and experience here. This storage facility is very secure with lots of cameras and a gated entrance. On numerous days a d times I observed staff walk through the storage units to ensure all of the locks are secure. On one occasion I had upgraded my lock without informing the office and a hour latter they called me to ask if I had switched locks. When there have been important announcements regarding holiday closures or repairs being made that impact access, they have emailed me far in advance and then followed up again closer to the event. Several times they have called me to ensure I had seen their emails. I have interacted with the manager and office staff many times and always found them professional, helpful and informative. This location has a variety of options available, including climate controlled units, wine storage, out door drive up units and parking for vehicles. If you ride a motorcycle but need to store it in a garage in-between rides, they're outside units are perfect and they have ramps available. Entrance is via a password into a physical keypad, or via a smartphone app. Entering and exiting using your password logs your visits time of entry and exit. When I first signed a contract here I was helped by Lynn who clearly explained their services, expectations and gave me a brief tour showing me different units to help me decide what was going to best serve my needs. Over the months I have visited the office, Lynn has always been very friendly and helpful in answering my questions and adressing any concerns. read more

There is a major problem with this facility: it's way too far from me (I'm in Santa Monica). My boss, who lived in Pasadena at the time, needed a storage unit, so from late 2022 until late 2024, I helped him rent a unit at Storbox. Since his English was limited, I was the contact person on file. Everything from signing the contract to moving out was smooth and pleasant. The staff was always courteous on the phone, and if they missed my call, they'd promptly return it (which is apparently a lost art these days). I especially appreciated their kindness during payment issues -- there were a few times when boss didn't have sufficient funds on the card, and instead of slapping on late fees or being aggressive, they would politely call to notify me. One time, during those wild rainy days when flooding was a risk, they called to explain the situation, discuss solutions, and even followed up. I mean--who does that? The facility itself was always clean, elevators worked, and they had carts readily available. Moving in and out was hassle-free, which is unheard of in storage land. Now that I'm searching for a storage unit for myself, I've realized the storage market here on the west side is straight out of a horror movie -- nightmare reviews, surprise fees, sudden rate hikes, and sketchy security vibes. It makes me cry that Storbox isn't closer. They deserve this positive review because they're proof that good storage experiences do exist. read more
