After doing a lot of online research and checking local storage facilities, I chose STORBOX Self Storage in Pasadena. The hours for entry are very good. I have been using them for over half a year, so I am comfortable in providing a review now that I have enough interaction and experience here. This storage facility is very secure with lots of cameras and a gated entrance. On numerous days a d times I observed staff walk through the storage units to ensure all of the locks are secure. On one occasion I had upgraded my lock without informing the office and a hour latter they called me to ask if I had switched locks. When there have been important announcements regarding holiday closures or repairs being made that impact access, they have emailed me far in advance and then followed up again closer to the event. Several times they have called me to ensure I had seen their emails. I have interacted with the manager and office staff many times and always found them professional, helpful and informative. This location has a variety of options available, including climate controlled units, wine storage, out door drive up units and parking for vehicles. If you ride a motorcycle but need to store it in a garage in-between rides, they're outside units are perfect and they have ramps available. Entrance is via a password into a physical keypad, or via a smartphone app. Entering and exiting using your password logs your visits time of entry and exit. When I first signed a contract here I was helped by Lynn who clearly explained their services, expectations and gave me a brief tour showing me different units to help me decide what was going to best serve my needs. Over the months I have visited the office, Lynn has always been very friendly and helpful in answering my questions and adressing any concerns. read more

There is a major problem with this facility: it's way too far from me (I'm in Santa Monica). My boss, who lived in Pasadena at the time, needed a storage unit, so from late 2022 until late 2024, I helped him rent a unit at Storbox. Since his English was limited, I was the contact person on file. Everything from signing the contract to moving out was smooth and pleasant. The staff was always courteous on the phone, and if they missed my call, they'd promptly return it (which is apparently a lost art these days). I especially appreciated their kindness during payment issues -- there were a few times when boss didn't have sufficient funds on the card, and instead of slapping on late fees or being aggressive, they would politely call to notify me. One time, during those wild rainy days when flooding was a risk, they called to explain the situation, discuss solutions, and even followed up. I mean--who does that? The facility itself was always clean, elevators worked, and they had carts readily available. Moving in and out was hassle-free, which is unheard of in storage land. Now that I'm searching for a storage unit for myself, I've realized the storage market here on the west side is straight out of a horror movie -- nightmare reviews, surprise fees, sudden rate hikes, and sketchy security vibes. It makes me cry that Storbox isn't closer. They deserve this positive review because they're proof that good storage experiences do exist. read more

Jessica made moving out easy. I needed my stuff for a typical room to be stored away while I figure things out like a mattress, 55" TV, 2 large drawers, clothes, shoes.... It was my first time getting a storage unit I was a little nervous but Jessica made me feel better about my stuff. At first they didn't have the size I was looking for they had a little smaller one. Storbox is the gold standard of storage in the San Gabriel Valley. There are lots of other places to store your stuff, but this one has it all: state of the art security, climate control, responsive communication with friendly and capable staff, clean units, and hand trucks and dollies that carry a lot. I moved a few things into a unit at Storbox the week we sold my late Mom's house, and for one reason or another (work, grief, a global pandemic), I didn't get back there for a while afterward. When it was time to clear out the space, the nice folks at Storbox made that process as easy as possible. From beginning to end, they made a difficult situation much easier to bear. My neighbor recommended this place two weeks ago. We both had to move after we were informed that our landlord was selling. I called and Jessica helped me. She was polite and knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable, so I signed up Lyn answered all my questions on the phone, and was also helpful and friendly. When I went in, I couldn't believe how clean and pristine the place was. They helped me right away when I got there. Every time I punch in my code, it says "Welcome Sylvia". These people pay attention to detail. I have been using Storbox for a number of years. They have been looking after my stored items all this time. I wouldn't go elsewhere since the staff are really nice and helpful and I feel the premises are very clean & easy to use. I would like to say that Jessica who works there has been particularly considerate, kind and attentive to my storage needs. She really does her job so well! But everyone there is nice and helpful. The provision of carts and elevators plus cameras & a gated entrance/exit makes access to one's unit without problems and the lighting is also conducive to dealing with one's storage. Thanks to this place's outrageous prices, poorly lit storage units and annoying music, I finally made the executive decision to throw out all my stuff. I took the first load to the dump this morning. When I call I was helped by Jessica who was very polite, informative about the Storbox facility and renting options. She answer to all my questions very detail it. She helped me get the right storage measure for me and explained process payment. I notice all was very organized and the storages look very clean and carts available to move boxes and furniture. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY! After 4 years of renting one of their large unit we were kick out with a little over 2 weeks notice. This happen after a dispute over being 12 minutes late at closing. They informed us that there would be a $75.00 charge for being late. After 4 years constant rent increases this was just one more chance to gouge us. They would not open the gate for us to leave until we called the police. Go somewhere else...they will increase the rent regularly. Their elevator doors stay open for 3 seconds then close, and if you hold the door open so you can load in your stuff they will come on the intercom and in a rude tone tell you not to hold the doors open. Go to Public Storage a much better experience. Storbox Self Storage in my opinion is one of the worst facilities I have encounter. read more

Moving and storing your possessions is always a vulnerable feeling. I really care about my stuff and to know that it was safe and in a clean space was really important. The customer service here was amazing! (Thanks Lein!) A very personal feel. They are used to working with the moving companies and facilitate the process. I felt safe visiting on my own to get things I needed. I used two storage spaces due to changing needs over the period (October-December) of getting my condo ready for show and then moving into a new home in another city.
