Moved in May 2023, price for storage: $150/month. 7 months later, price increase to $180/month. 4 months later, price is increasing to $230/month. This is a complete scam. There is no change in the size of my storage unit nor in the level of service that is being provided, and there is no explanation regarding these price changes, only, "There is a Rate Change on your storage space". Luckily I can and will be removing my items from storage. I feel sorry for anyone that has to use these storage units, as you are essentially held hostage to these rate increases if you cannot get your stuff out for any reason. Avoid at all costs, and/or try to lock in an annual rate (if this is even an option). read more

Awful storage facility. Rent almost doubled over the last 2 years, with no increase in my storage unit size and no reasoning behind it. On top of that there is never anyone on site, even during their appointment hours. Went to move out, no one was there (during regular business hours,) and they had NO carts to transport our belongings down the elevator to the car. This storage property has repeatedly increased the rates to nearly double what we started with two years ago. The fact that no property manager is ever there and no one can access their units if needed makes the rates even more ridiculous. I'll be moving my belongings to another property if they aren't willing to work on fixing the increasing rates! Online rates are lower than what we're currently paying for with bigger units! We rented here for over a year and about 6 months in we received a note in the mail that our rent had more than doubled, which took it from being affordable to not at all affordable. We sold and got rid of our stuff, and on the 31st tried to close out our account but it was Easter and no one was on site to help close it. We went back the next day and closed it, only to be told by the front desk person that even though the unit was vacated on the 1st we would still be charged a full months rent on the 2nd. I called and spoke to two different customer service managers who could not have cared less. We are now paying for a unit for another month that is empty and completely vacated. Public Storage is a horrible company who just wants your money at any cost. They couldn't care less about their customers or about having a single shred of integrity. I also have a friend who got their stuff stolen at the same location, and management said because they didn't have any security footage of it they wouldn't do anything about it. DO NOT RENT HERE. I first started renting a 7x10 unit at this business in 2009. I just moved out August 1st, 2023 because they continued to increase my monthly rent to as high as $516 most recently. This is outrageous for a non temperature controlled unit on the fourth floor that I have been in for the last 14 years. The most upsetting part is when I moved out it was one hour after they opened on August 1st and instead of pro rating my rent they decided to stick it to me for the entire month's rent. After 14 years of loyalty in the same unit it was a very disappointing way to treat me. I know Public Storage is a massive company that clearly could care less about how they treat one customer but if I can hopefully help the next potential customer to think twice before renting here then the time I spent writing this feedback is worth it. read more

Don't believe many of the 5-star reviews here, it's obvious that they're fake shill reviews. If it has no real substance but just says, "Belinda was awesome and helped us store stuff," it's most likely fake. I spent a few years holding a bunch of crap I never used at this location. The property itself looks nice and staff are friendly. But the more time you spend here, the more you pick up on little details and dodgy business practices. Like how easy they make it to sign up. First month for only a dollar! Wowza! Yeah, don't. IT'S A TRAP. The honeymoon period was nice. I tricked myself into thinking that I had actually dealt with my clutter, and that $90 a month on my credit card? A small price to pay for a tidy home. Ah, peace of mind, American style. Months later, a postcard arrived. "Our goal is to provide you with the best customer experience," it said. "We hope we're living up to your expectations." (Oh, and by the way, we're raising your rent. Make sure to pay on time to avoid a $20 late fee plus applicable taxes. K thx bai.) Man, I remember what a pain it was to move all that crap in. Eh, an extra $20 a month is worth avoiding that hassle. On with life! One day, my phone rings. It's Public Storage. "There's a note on your account and we need you to come to the property." Ah, jeez. Someone ripped off the chicken wire that lines the top of the unit, before cutting off my padlock, rendering my door unlatchable, and using my unit to move laterally to others. I asked the office about security camera footage and was told they only had camera coverage in certain places like the lobby. Seriously? You keep raising rent but can't bother to spend a few grand for some decent fucking security camera coverage? Unacceptable. I came back a week later to see if they followed through on their work order and fixed the damage to my unit. The door latch was barely bent back enough to slide it closed, and their idea of fixing the chicken wire was to loosely pull the damaged stuff over the head of a protruding screw. Yeah, real secure. To their credit, they gave me one of their fancy padlocks at no charge. which accounts for the one star they earned in this review. Otherwise, staff acted like this was a normal occurrence, and ran me through the motions. I can't really fault the staff, since it's obvious that they work for a cheap, greedy owner who couldn't care less about his customers. So much for that honeymoon phase. I kept it up for a few more years, punctuated with those lovely little postcards giving me 30 days notice of my rent being increased by another $15 or $20. Because customer service, right? When I was notified that my rent was rising to almost $200 a month, I was done. That stuff I've spent over $8,000 storing? 95% was junked or donated. Very little of it mattered in the end, all it did was sit idle and drain my money. Lesson learned. So, long story even longer: THE RENT IS A LIE. They will keep jacking up your rent. Forever. Like clockwork. They KNOW we're more apt to be lazy and keep paying instead of wising up and moving out. And they won't install more security cameras with the extra cash they're taking from you. With the exception of moving you in, this place does everything with the least effort possible. SECURITY IS A LIE. There is no way to ID or track anyone after they've entered the building. The keypad system limits what floor the elevator will go to, but that's it. Anyone with an access code to your floor is a potential intruder. Laughable camera coverage, and a cheap bastard owner who doesn't care. NEVER, EVER STORE VALUABLE ITEMS IN A STORAGE UNIT. It will be at your own peril. Bottom line: storage will not solve your stuff problem. Only having less stuff will. And your life will be less stressful, guaranteed...if only because you won't have to deal with a self-storage place and their relentless cash-grabbing greed. It's been real, Public Storage. I had a horrible experience and felt ripped off. Here's what went down: I placed a reservation online and went in to confirm my 5x10 sq ft unit on 4/8. During my in-person tour, I was concerned I would not have enough space. I was assured by the attendant that it would be easy to roll-over my account to a larger unit should I feel the need later (even on move-in day), and all I would have to do is pay the difference. Feeling reassured, I went home to reassess the space I would need. Decided I would need a larger space. The next day, 4/9, I called to upgrade to a larger 8x8 unit. They were happy to assist, but would not give me the online price for the larger unit, even though I had originally placed my reservation for the 5x10 unit online. The only options given to me were: 1) accept the higher in-store price (which would work out to be about $40/month more compared to the online price for the 8x8 unit, or $70/month more compared to the online price for my 5x10 unit) 2) place a new reservation for the 8x8 unit online, which would basically start a new application process where I would be charged another $22 processing fee, AND I would lose all of my money from the previous day (rental for the unit, the insurance, processing fee), totaling more than $100. And that was it. No further help. Just matter of fact, no trouble shooting nor trying to work with your customer. I expressed shock and disbelief at this ridiculous practice. Mind you, I had not even moved ANYTHING into the space at this point. Why not honor the fact that I initially made a reservation online? Why not explain to me in detail the day before about losing the more competitive online pricing should I request a larger space? After reviewing my options, I ended up choosing the lesser evil (losing less money) and went someplace else. Even though I would lose the $120 from the 1 day of "rental" on paper, I would make up the difference in the ensuing months by renting from someone else and saving on the monthly price. Despicable practice. This is apparently how this location scams some extra money off of their customers, especially for those like myself who have to make a last minute unplanned move and have had no prior experience with renting from a storage company. read more

This place is outrageous for many reasons. First of all they do not enforce mask wearing. People are getting on elevators without masks on which is completely disgusting. Workers are there painting the building, riding in the elevators etc. with no masks on. Moving is awful. So when you come across someone that makes it infinitely more easier on you, I definitely take notice. I had no idea where to begin or what I'd need when I began the packing process. I was lost, completely adrift in a sea of delusion that I could just buy like 8 boxes or so and be done. Not so much. Sharona (I think that's her name) was the most patient and kind individual I could've dealt with. She jolted me into reality and loaded me up with boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape and box organizers. Who knew I owned this much crap in a 1 bedroom apartment? Actually, aside from kitchen supplies I think it's mostly shoes. But this is why I needed so many boxes. ;) Either way, on multiple visits, they calmed my anxieties, helped me pick out what I needed (not what I thought I needed,) and loaded it all into my car. 3 months ago, I needed to purchase some boxes to pack for an elderly lady. Looked around and tried to find where would be the quickest nearby place to buy boxes. I stopped by this public storage to get them. What a mistake! There was 1 lady working. First she asked me to wait 15-20 minutes for her to show a customer a storage unit. Then when she got back. She spent 20+ more minutes to start the account with the lady. Here is my thoughts why this was a poor customer experience. 1. She continued to make me wait even I could have paid her real quickly 2. She was the only 1 working 3. She said to me "let me take care of this lady and I will be with you". But taking care of this lady clearly would take at least 30 minute. Really lady? You are going to make me wait 30 + the 15 minutes (while you showed her the unit)... I'm a bit loss for words. Certainly not the location I will go back to. No thank you! read more

Don't rent here. Just trust me. Like others have said before me, I had some stuff go missing here. It was a lot of stuff. In fact it was so outlandish how much stuff went missing the only thing I can surmise is that I must have left them out. For the record, I don't remember leaving anything out, but I have no other explanation. If it's not the customers robbing you, then it's definitely the management. I just received a notice that they're going to raise my rent another $40 bucks in November. Needless to say, I'll be looking for a different facility. I've had enough of this place. When we asked them why they did it, they said that online cancellation doesn't count... What?! I recently closed my account and unit with public storage. I'd been using them since 2002 to store up all of my crap. I had electronics, collectibles, guitars, etc... The reason I picked this one instead of one closer to my place was for the air conditioning/climate control it offered. I paid like 1$ for the first 3 months and then it went up to 68$ a month which is a great deal considering all the crap I have/had. What got iffy later on were the raises in rent every 6-12 months or so. I finally called it quits when it spiked up to 81 for a 5X5 unit. I kicked it into overdrive and cleaned out a lot of shit. The remainder of it is back at home. It doesn't get a perfect score, because they never cleaned up around the outside of my storage space after I told 3-4 different employees that someone spilled coffee or a soft drink near my spot and it was a sticky mess. The doors of the units don't go all the way down--there's about an inch of room for liquids to seep through. Luckily all of my shit was in plastic containers--it would have been on if anything got damaged. Oh, before I forget, they also have a separate car garage for people that want to store their vehicle. This is the worst storage unit...please do not rent here. Received a call stating there was a problem with my unit, asking me to call to discuss. I called back several times and did not receive a call back. On July 2nd, I went to the unit to place a bike into the unit to be stored, and found my lock to be secured when approaching the unit and unlocking the door. When the door was opened, my items in boxes were all over the floor, my bike that had been stored was gone, and it seemed all boxes had been cut with a box cutter. I immediately went to the front office, and the person working merely looked up my unit and said, "oh yeah, you were called, sorry!" She then handed me a pamphlet to call insurance and report the stolen items. She said nothing was seen on camera or monitors and the alarm was NOT triggered. How is this possible? With further investigation, we noticed all storage units with Public Storage locks seemed to be broken into...there was no damage to the door, so our suspicion is someone has a master key. Please review all of the reviews, it seems this location has a problem that they are not willing to handle or deal with. Per the Pasadena Police Dept., they have been called to this location weekly, and noticed transients in stairwells and potentially living in storage units. If you have had issues, please contact me as I will be approaching Public storage, and the more folks that come forward, perhaps we can be heard...for now, RUN, do not store items here!!!! read more

After 4 years of paying a premium rent, I've finally moved out. After receiving a phone call stating that I needed to contact PS due to an urgent matter regarding my unit, I found that several pieces of artwork were stolen. I have no idea how anyone could get into the unit, as the lock that I had purchased from Public Storage was heavy duty & it was not "cut" off of the unit, but rather found "unlocked." You can't walk away without knowing that this type of lock is secure due to how the key works. I realize that people steal things. It happens in homes & places of business. What was most upsetting was that I was informed that the SECURITY CAMERAS OUTSIDE OF THE ELEVATORS ON EACH FLOOR DO NOT WORK. The only working cameras are the one that overlooks the parking lot & the one that is motion-sensor activated in the lobby (this information was freely given to me by one of the PS employees). "Budget" was cited as to why the cameras were not in working order. I thought that was interesting, considering they increase the rent annually and appear to have plenty of business. Either way, it's not ok to present a false sense of security to the customers. Also, I'm still confused as to how someone got into my "alarmed" unit without setting the alarm?? I was told that when I put in my code, that de-activates the alarm on my unit, so WHY DIDN'T THE ALARM GO OFF when the door was opened by whomever stole my property? I did file a police report. They confirmed that they make more visits to this property than other similar storage buildings in Pasadena. I was told by management that they had reviewed what security footage they had and did not see anyone removing my items. Not only did someone steal my things, but I've now spent hours removing my property. My recommendation is to really do your research before placing your trust Public Storage Pasadena. read more

There is probably very few companies on the planet that are as bad as public storage. They have caused me (and many others I know) NOTHING but headaches. And just recently, because I have autopay, they charged my account five times over! They took out just shy of a grand from my account! Of course they reversed it, but not until I had to call the bank, call them, go back and forth with their bs only to have them say that there was nothing more they could do. Not even so much as an apology from them! I heard this happened all over Southern California. I feel pretty confident that if I didn't pay for five months they wouldn't just take my simple, oops accounting error as a response. I have also found that for the most part, the people running these public storage locations are rude and very ill trained. This is a company that gets by on the fact that they are so large they don't care about their customers at all. I HIGHLY suggest you look into smaller more 'ma and pa' run storage facilities. You might pay a little extra but when it comes down to a major screw up you're sure to get the service you deserve with a personal place. God knows I wish I had gone with someone else. read more

After signing the contract paying for my storage unit, purchasing a lock and insurance I was all set to move in. I had my housekeeper as a designated user so that he could access my storage, well it turns out that he was a user on a persons account in the past who had been evicted and based on that fact alone I was unable to rent. Well I asked if he had done anything to cause the eviction and expressed concern that he was in my employ as well so I'd like to know. They had no good reason what so ever and told me they would not rent me a unit. I am a business owner and upstanding citizen, I find this a disgraceful way to do business and will never deal with public storage again. read more

The Public Storage at 2773 East Colorado does not provide staffing for its employees for breaks and lunches as required by the State of California. On several occasions, including today, I have arrived at the office to use a cart to move boxes to my unit. The one person there is on lunch and the door to the office is locked, denying access to carts which require a drivers license be left for security. The employee is usually sitting in the office having lunch. They also don't keep their "return by" sign up to date, usually posting a return time 30 to 60 minutes in the past. Management needs to provide staffing to keep the doors open during their advertised hours. This is not the fault of the employees. There are other issues with this facility that make me regret placing my items here. Look elsewhere for a storage facility. read more

Customer service is ok depends on who is working. A few times have gone in and the office wasn't open had to wait for someone to show up pass the time they were suppose to be opened. They don't have a option for you to throw your thrash so you have to take your items with you and look for a dumpster. I recommend the other location down the street. read more

This was my first time using a storage facility. After shopping around, I decided to go with Public Storage because of its reputation. The manager, Melissa, is very friendly and helpful. I was able to reserve a unit online for $25 less per month. I was able to move in same-day and the entire process was quick and easy. The facilities and storage unit are pretty clean. There is an access code for the entry doors and for the elevators. There is plenty of light in the facility, so I would feel comfortable coming here at night. Overall great experience! read more
