There was an issue with the product when I picked up my order the following day but Margherita was able to solve my issue within a few hours. I've been going to Ganahl for a couple of years but this year, I took on a big wall of built-ins and needed a lot of help selecting lumber that wasn't knotted or warped/wet, and honestly I had no idea what I was doing. The staff at Ganahl are super helpful and un-intimidating for new-to-the-scene DIYers. If you have no idea what you need (other than the dimensions), definitely check them out before you head to a big box store. They even have regular hardware items and paint in addition to a great selection of lumber and MDF. Ganahl will rip down what you need, and will do up to 5 (I think) additional cuts, charging a nominal amount per cut. I drive a regular car and had to get help cutting down 2x4, 1x4, and plywood sheets to fit in the car. Protip: they offer delivery for items you don't want to cut, too. Happy Ganahl exists. I wasn't even upset as The staff who helped me initially were excellent, professional, and patient.-- I simply came back to exchange it.Unfortunately, the manager Marcus was rude, dismissive, and completely ruined the experience.I drove three hours round trip for this return, and he treated me like I was some kind of unreasonable idiot -- not even offering a basic apology.and he wasted another 35 mins there. This was easily one of the worst retail experiences I've ever had -- a rude and disrespectful interaction that single-handedly ruined an otherwise great store. Ever since Rockler closed down I've been going here for my tools and stock. There's a great selection of gear, and it helps to know what you're looking for before you get there, but there's plenty of room to wander around while you figure it out if you don't. Subday I literally recommended this place to a customer at Home Depot that needed a little expertise help, saying the people at ACE or Ganahl would be more helpful and be able to answer questions for retail customers. Today, Tuesday I go in to get additional cedar posts to match the ones I bought the previous week, the shelf only had majorly warped and low quality center cut pieces so I asked if they could bring down their other stock as the counter guy had said. I waited an hour, checked back in and they brought low grade common fir not suitable for my project, told me it was cedar. I paid the extra for cedar. Brought it home and now I have to go back. This is after waiting a week for the yard boys to move a new pallet into the shelf the prior weeks. read more

I noticed that the selection of hardwood lumber at this lumber yard is noticeably limited compared to what it should be. Interestingly, Rockler -- which operated a much smaller store not far from here before closing its Pasadena location -- consistently offered a wider variety of hardwoods. It seems this lumber yard may be missing an opportunity, either by underestimating demand or potentially choosing not to cater to the former Rockler clientele. I stumbled across this place after striking out at Home Depot, and I'm so glad I did. Honestly, it's epic--I can't believe I only just found them. I was searching for wood stains, and Jeremy, who helped me, went above and beyond. He actually asked if I had the wood piece with me (which I did) and proceeded to pull a bunch of stains, testing them all out for me right there. This saved me so much time and money, I can't even tell you. He also advised me to take the samples home and see how they looked in different lighting before making a final decision, since this stain would be for redoing my kitchen cabinets. Ganahl is my #1 go-to place for all my building and restoration needs. Prices are very competitive with larger chains. Service is a million times better than ANY home renovation store I've ever been to. The staff is also very professional and knowledgeable. And I've been going there for years and see virtually no turn-over which tells me it must be a good place to work as well. Employees seem very happy. I can drive my truck right into the lumber areas, even for kiln-dried wood inside. I can load the truck instantly, right there. No need for heavy and difficult-to-push lumber carts. I save so much time and energy especially that I have physical limitations. They have an amazing variety of lumber grades and types, bolts, ties, screws, everything you need to renovate and old home like the one I own. They even have actual lumber (real-size, ie real 4x4) which can be very useful when you own a very old house. If you run into any issue, need help loading anything or need to order ahead of time, they do it all. Compared to the big-box store up the street, Ganahl is a breath of fresh air. I go there directly for all my renovation needs. They have everything you can think about and if they don't, ask and they probably can order it for you. Always loaded with supplies. Rarely out of anything. Other customers are also very polite and respectful. Not a free-for-all like the HD up the street. I remember years ago when this location was a car dealership then it turned into a lumber yard. I was wondering why do we need a lumber yard in the neighborhood? Isn't Home Depot enough? I understand the value of a good lumber yard that has better quality products now I'm renovating my house. We want to maintain the charm and character of our 1950s house. The window department salesperson was able to find the exact match based on the picture of our doors. Of course the door is better quality, solid door (which means more expensive) than the hallow-core doors sold at Home Depot. I was also able to find antique nickel hinges that are not easy to find. It turns out the Hager hinges that I found at Ganahl are the same as what we have in the house. We need to put wainscoting back on the walls in one of the rooms. I've called 8 places around and they don't carry the headboard anymore. Only Ganaul carries it that's close to what we want. Ordering the moulding was easy at Ganaul as well. If they don't have the sample or product in stock, they are able to order it for pick up the next day. Luis Rojas was the gentleman who helped me ordering the samples. He was friendly and accommodating. Prices at Ganahl maybe higher than the big box home improvement stores, but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend Ganaul if one is looking for better quality products and services. read more

I called back and Miranda answered. She says this is normal so I guess I'm SOL trying to dry out the post myself. Pro tip: You can select wood yourself so you don't run into this issue. I was recommended to Ganahl Lumber because I needed to find replacement oak flooring for a small area of damaged flooring in my home. I am not a DIY type of homeowner so I was clueless when I walked in as to where to go and what to buy. I was assisted by Raffi who was very patient with me and explained to me the different types of flooring they had, the sizes, and how much flooring I would need for the area I had measured in my home. I brought the flooring home to my contractor and the match was just right. I purchased more than enough flooring and was pleased to see how perfectly the replacement flooring matched with my existing flooring. We asked to cut an 8ft post, but Miranda said we couldn't because it was blocked. So our convo went something like: "So when do you think we should come back?" M: I don't know, there's no schedule or anything "Should we just call before we come back and see if it's available?" M: it's usually never available "Soo.. there's nothing we can do?" M: *shrugs* yeah sorry about that LOL that was the oddest interaction ever bc shortly after we walked over to the costumer service counter and the girl there said we can just put the order on will call and they'll get to it as soon as they can. So we went back to the counter and luckily Anthony was there to help us and put the order on will call. My wife and I ordered windows and doors for a large remodel project at our home. We have two issues with Ganahl. Adriana Duarte our salesperson and guided us to purchase some textured doors we cannot use. They don't match any of the other doors in the same order. Now that we've explained that we can't use these doors she's telling us to smooth them out with filler and that they can't make good on their mistake. Extremely frustrating when you spend a little extra to get some good customer service from a nice place Ganahl. The second issue is delivery. Adriana after some emails back-and-forth send it I could accept delivery with the driver's help. When they tried to deliver the windows and doors the driver straight up refused to help me take larger items off the truck. The driver said we needed a forklift to accompany the delivery. I was surprised by this but figured he knew what he was talking about. Now they want us to pay for a second delivery fee and they're claiming the driver said I wouldn't help him? Lots of finger-pointing not a lot of solutions. Ganahl Lumber has a beautiful showroom and a very well-kept lumberyard. This gives you the impression that you're working with people who will stand behind what they're doing. Right now all I'm getting is long-winded emails with excuses. Extremely unprofessional and shocking considering the appearance of this brand. I hope you don't have the same experience that we're having and I hope we can find a resolution to this. read more

I've been here a number of times and the lumber selection is good and the staff are super helpful. Here are two examples: - I came in looking for help replacing a garden gate and the front desk staff walked through the store with me and my toddler picking all the hardware and lumber I needed. It was close to closing time and they were still more than willing to help. I believe Miles helped me that day. - I've bought doors from Ganahl twice, for two different homes. The second time, in May 2022, Don was super helpful with all of my changes and getting me pictures and timely estimates. Once I placed the order, everything came in pieces due to shipping delays. Don kept me posted on timing, and when we had enough to start the project got a delivery date scheduled. Ultimately, the factory sent one wrong door profile (same size, just wrong design), so we installed the one we had and waited for the new door. It finally came about 6 months later after being stuck in transit. Don personally delivered the door to my house. The prices are comparable to a big box store, so there really isn't a need to go elsewhere as long as Ganahl sells what you need. read more

He was punctual, great communication, service, present when needed, and knowledgable. Second time around, I walked in for an custom entry door, French doors, and Milgard windows. I specifically asked for Orison, but Matthew helped us instead because Orison was off that day. Matthew butchered our order. But, Orison came to the rescue. He was able to fix all the mistakes Mathew made and went the extra distance for us. He made our experience that much better, as first time homeowners. I would definitely go back and do business. My husband and I placed a huge order (11 windows, 1 sliding door) with Joe Dressell in July 2021 and added three more windows to the order in August 2021 (total 14 windows, 1 sliding door). Up until the initial order was placed, Joe was great to work with- communicative, personable; however, afer the order was placed, all communication dropped. It took multiple emails, phone calls, voicemails, and calls to the manager to get assistance. After our order was placed, we found that: delivery was not ever scheduled, additional windows were behind 3 weeks (no communication of delay), incorrect order of slider/ casement window, and delayed payment. After looking at the Yelp reviews specifically about Joe in the past year, I would not have ordered through him knowing that there would be a lack of communication and follow through. Getting a hold of the manager Chris was also not easy. This was a huge order and we had multiple contractors lined up for window installation and other renovations after window installation. If we had not kept reaching out to Joe, Chris, and other sale associates, our whole order would have been a disaster. For the money that we spent here, the lack of communication and follow through is unnacceptable. This experience has been awful and full of anxiety. I will not be sending referrals their way and would have given zero stars if I could have. read more

Like a candy store for home improvement geeks like me. Their selection and quality of lumber is unmatched. You'll pay more than the wood at Home Depot or Lowes but it's worth it. The employees are extremely accessible and knowledgeable. Most recently I had a great experience in their paint department when I tried to match a wood stain to a wood trim piece I brought into the store. The employee (wish I had gotten his name) opened and sampled at least five cans of stain to help me. When I brought the stain home the match was not as good as I expected. Ganahl easily accepted my return and the gentleman in the paint department again spent a good half hour with me sampling stains to get the right match. This lumber yard gets great reviews, but I'm a bit befuddled after some recent phone calls today. I'll I was trying to get was a price quote for five different sizes of lumber, so I can put to together a rough estimate for what a fence I'm going to be building will cost. That's it...... Instead, I had somebody from sales put me off over the phone. Wanted me to send in an email... Really??? All I need is a price for FIVE different lengths of lumber. I'm so very sorry that I asked a question of the difference between premium lumber and heart lumber. I was then put on hold, for approximately 20 minutes. During this time, my call was picked up, then immediately put back on hold... Why? The final time it happened, I was routed to somebody's voicemail....
