This place is expensive because they know it's a pain to get to home depot if you're working in the area. The restrictions were lifted a while ago and until recently they wouldn't let you walk in and shop, on top of that before Covid they would follow you around as if you were going to steal something. Came in because we had our whee barrel tire pop and was looking for a replacement inner tube. I was greeted by one of the Brothers immediately and he was able to find the tube. He also double checked with his brother to make sure it was the right one. He saw I was in a bind and took the time to help me remove the punctured inner tube and even helped put the new one in. I have neglected this store for too long, but then, I haven't needed much. I just had a week off so I hired a guy and together we copper piped my house. New drain lines and gas, too. I did it all with Garvanza. The store is tiny, but with their friendly help I can find almost anything for plumbing that I need. I've started electrical, as well, and so far they have had nearly everything for that, as well. I was in there three times a day all week and they made is easy to exchange unneeded parts. I do not speak Spanish, but twice this week customers entered the front door and I heard the words "nada" and "Home Depot" in a sentence. OSH is gone and my True Value in Pasadena is withering away. Crown City and Berg (both the best old-fashioned stores) are gone. Garvanza is now my main store and I will call or go there first before Big Box. They appreciate your business like only an owner can, and they say so every time. read more

I have to say, this store is friendly as well ass great prices, I don't like going to big corporation stores but I don't like spending a Lot as well, but this hardware store has a lot of things cheaper the the big H stores, so as long as they have great prices and a house warming service I'm a customer for life. read more

I stopped by on my way home to get some nails to hang up a poster. True to form I was personally greeted at the door and led to what I needed. I would come back. I'm no expert but I'd come back because they have everything from wood to extension cords. Plus the customer service is awesome! read more

Since OSH in South Pasadena closed, I've been looking for a new local hardware store. I needed some pest spray in a hurry and looked on Yelp to find someplace local. Even though I've been by this store a thousand times, I forgot about this little gem. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but when I went inside the man greeted me with a smile, and directed me to the right aisle. After a moment he came back to where I was to help me find the right product. I went to the cash register and paid and after the transaction he looked me in the eye and said, "Thank you. I appreciate your business." Nobody does that anymore! I'll be back. read more

Bought a small screwdriver. After the first twist, the head snapped off. This isn't a review like "I used a precision screwdriver to try and wrench off a manhole and I don't think it's my fault this broke." I'm quite capable of using a screwdriver and assessing which one is for what job. But the quality of the metal and build was poor. They refused to refund. I get that they aren't responsible for the build quality of the tools, but at a bigger store they would have had consumer satisfaction on the mind and refunded it anyway. It's not a bad store, but I would just stick to bigger chains because they offer you more consumer protection instead of just a local store to take your money and give you nothing in return. read more

Small store that seems to have just about everything you need. If at first you don't find it, be sure to ask - I needed a lamp fixture to hang a brass lamp from the ceiling. They weren't sure they had any in stock, then found several in stainless steel colors - but when we poked around in the bin, we found one that was not only the right color, it had a quasi-Moroccan pattern to it and it worked perfectly with my lamp! Just the right thing, just when I needed it. This is a great store - they're always helpful, and always friendly. read more

Bought a tool. Went home, used it for 5 minutes. Tool broke. Went back and asked if I had a warranty, or if they could replace. Said no. That's their right obviously, but it's my right to review them as having poor customer service. read more
