Jill's Paint - Paint Stores Near Me - Los Angeles, California

This was my go to shop for decades that sold specialty paints for decorative arts. Not anymore I found out when I called that Catalina bought them. Terrible. I won't be going back. This town does not need another generic paint store so sad. I bet all the charm is gone too. My dog used to bark at the three stooges statues that are probably not even there anymore I don't know cause I'm not going back. Here are a few pieces I painted with products from the former Jill's paint read more

I made the mistake of going to Home Depot multiple times to try to get paint to patch the outside of my house. They could never get it right. I finally went to Jill's and they were so nice and helpful. They also got the paint perfect on the first try. If I had just gone here first I would've saved myself a lot of time, money, and frustration. This store is great, the people are great, I highly recommend it. read more

The last two times I have gone in for paint advice the vibe seems so much different without the two brothers that were so pleasant and helpful that have there for decades. The employees have a little sass and seem so disinterested in answering questions and make you feel like you are bothering them when u ask for color matching than contradict whet they have said before. Well times change and I will be looking for a new paint shop to go to. read more

I love this paint store!! Everyone is so helpful and patient, especially with us novice homeowners looking to do our own paint job. They help you select colors, make recommendations on different brands and finishes, and are quick to get you what you need so you can get out the door and get started. Home Depot makes me crazy with the wait time and limited selection and even though Jill's is a small paint store they seem to have everything from premium paints, stains, metallics and all the tools you need in a one stop shop!! Plus I love the free candy at the register!!! Recently I decided to do DIY back painted glass project as I couldn't find any glass shop to do it for less than $1,500!! Went to Jill's and they suggested the ideal paint mix, put it in a spray can and success!! Love Jill's paint crew!! read more

Go here instead of Home Depot or another big box store! They have everything you need for painting and related work. But the best part of the store is the staff. So friendly, knowledgeable, hard working and efficient. You'll get much better service and care here. I got great advice about actually buying a cheaper product to satisfy my needs and what I need to realistically invest in. Saved a bunch of money while doing home improvement. And they helped bring all the materials out to my car parked a half block away. Parking: they have a paid public lot behind them but plenty of free street parking on side streets behind them or you can try metered parking in front but not as easy to get a space. Safety: masks required, social distancing abided by. It was truly a pleasure shopping here and encourage others to buy from small businesses! read more

Very clean, organized, and friendly neighborhood paint shop. I came here after escaping the zoo at Home Depot. They welcomed and helped me out with some nice paint. I love the colors and everything I purchased.. it was just as affordable as Home Depot. Plus you're supporting local and giving back to small businesses which I love. Thanks to the guys who help me out today! read more

Awesome selection. Fantastic help and real expertise. They can't answer questions and provide insight to types of paint and how to use their supplies. They'll help sign stain and paint sample too. Will continue to go here first for all my paint and stain needs read more

I always go here for painting projects (even if the prices are slightly higher than Home Depot) because A)friendly, personalized service B) they KNOW THEIR STUFF and will give great advice on what products to use C) the products are superior (better paint= less time spent painting!) also D) You're in and out way quicker than at a big box store. Love, love, love Jill's Paint. read more

On behalf of my mother and nephew 36+ years residents of Atwater Village, we try to support our community as much as possible so when we decided to take on a home improvement project. My family first thought was to go to Jill's Paint... From what I was told my family was told repeatedly to " give me five minutes" while the sales women was on a personal call from what my mother could clearly hear, once she finally did get off the phone she began a personal conversation with a friend in the store. Off to home depot they went... read more

Shop Jill's for all of your paint needs! The staff is extraordinarily helpful, friendly and quick on the mixer. They never make you feel dumb for asking questions. I was trying to create a custom color to match a corporate logo for an office design. These guys were able to mix two colors to match the logo EXACTLY. It was a huge success. I'll never shop elsewhere. read more

I went to this store because it's a Benjamin moore dealer. The consultant was working and asked me to come back at a specific time. I walked around for 30 min, came back and said that she had another appt. I asked her if I could just ask her one question about the white color differences so I could just buy some swatches and she said no. She was on her break. Every time I've come to this shop, no one knows anything about the paints. It's so difficult to get a consultant. I'm done trying to make this store work for me. Unprofessional. read more

Everyone has talked about their great paint selection, mixing, etc. So I will just say: This place is incredible. You will get all the same colors at Home Depot but here, you will get amazing service. Not just with selection and mixing but they really care about the customer having a great experience. There's a big table to sit and browse over colors with a fresh pot of coffee and gourmet donuts (YUM!) and if that's not your thing, have a drink in the back bar. (Really.) On Saturdays they have free color consultations until 3pm. And if you are a dog lover - there is no better place! Free bones and Jill stocks treats I've never seen before, to buy. I have in all my years in LA (many + many) NEVER had a better experience shopping. Today was my first day at Jill's and not only did I find exactly what I wanted but it was a really fun experience (ample parking, too) instead of being a weekend Home Depot or Loew's nightmare! I will never go to another paint store. read more

The staff are really friendly, fast and knowledgeable. Out of the park because this weekend, they reminded me of what real customer service is. My painter had purchased two gallons of light grey paint which, when applied to my living room walls, revealed itself to actually be light blue. Not good for my place. Not good for any man's place. So I'm out $60 something for two new gallons, right? Nope. Imagine my surprise when the folks at Jill's were able to remix (I said it) the failed paint color into a nice dark grey, which I am currently surrounded by. Love it. Love the service. How much? NO CHARGE!! They have just about everything you'd need to paint anything you'd want to paint, and not many people know this, but they're right beneath what used to be the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal Records and G-Son Studios. That's quite a pedigree. So local folks, please do not entrust Home Depot or some similar corporate behemoth with your paint needs. Go check out Jill's, and keep Atwater as it always has been ... bright, colorful and personal. read more

Nice little neighborhood paint store, but paint is overpriced about $10 per gallon. :/ Also, samples are about $7 bucks each when you can get them much cheaper at Orchard Supply Hardware or at other nearby paint stores that also sell Benjamin Moore. On the positive side, they do have a designer to help you with beginning color decisions on Saturdays. read more

Wonderful crew. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend them for all of your painting needs.

They were super attentive over the phone which was super important since we didn't want to spend any time indoors (Covid-safety). The next day we went and picked up the products hassle free. We drove about forty minutes because no one near us carried the product we were looking for. Great customer service! read more

Best Paint Store around! Super nice and always helpful!

This is the only place I buy my paint. Everyone is super friendly and way faster than going to Home Depot or Lowe's.

The best. And now they deliver. Won't buy paint anywhere else! Super friendly service. All the good Benjamin Moore paints.

They take C19 very seriously there as all business should indoors. If you are wondering how many customer they let inside as you enter, the max number is up to 3 customers. Jill's Paint was very cool with my sis and I, they treat their customer well, and give you reliable info as we are newbie to painting walls. Wanted to see what can go with our setup. We went with Gentleman's Grey. They are very knowledgeable regarding about which paint can do and how lights play into it. Went with Matte as can be washable to clean off dirt or smudges and not reflect so much light if one was streaming games or on a video team call. Went back again to get a swiss coffee which is a different shade of white as would did not want the color to show yellow or those eggshells stuff. In a bright room, the room with windows, the white stands out and so does the blue. When it dark then the white shows a little bit grey. read more

Jill's Paint is such a wonderful experience, from their in store employee knowledge to the quality of their products. We completely trust them to give us advice, whether it is on color or literally showing them pictures off of our cell phones of problem areas. Other customers seem to have close relationships with their staff that make it feels like a more personal experience overall. Support small business and you won't be disappointed here! read more

I concur that Jill's is a super ultra fun paint store with all the best lines and colors...B Moore, Devine, Sydney Harbor. They have milk paint! (Be prepared to make a huge mess, though, if you go the milk paint route.) This is a great place to get inspiration for your color choices, and even effects, if you are doing or redoing a home. They're usually pretty friendly and nice, but they've never offered ME wine. And when you're renovating, you need it. read more

This is the best paint store in the LA area. They carry Benjamin Moore paint, which is great because BM makes the best paint on the market -- their Aura line. It runs 50-60 per gallon, but it pays for itself. It's self-priming, and it covers like a champion. The folks at Jill's are really helpful. There are 2 dudes who look alike and sound alike in a very distinct manner. There's also a fatherly dude who's always there to help, but never really seems to be working. He gives good advice, as do the crankily voiced brothers. I'm a contractor and I encounter a lot of homeowners who think Home Depot's paint is just great. I'd really like to send them all to Jill's to see the many ways in which a real paint store totally blows the big Depot out of the water. Ever gotten a color match at the HD? Well maybe it worked out well for you, but have you gotten several color matches from them and seen how hit or miss their abilities are? I have, and I have. Jill's has employees who know what they're doing and products that are high quality. And they're friendly, and the decor is mish-mashy and hodge-podgey and rad. The only bummer is parking, which is tough at times. But I'll walk around the corner to go to the best paint store in the county. read more

As if Atwater Village wasn't cool enough? Jules paints is a staple to the area. There's nothing like the good ol' feel of going to a classic paint shop. Their staff is amazing, they are fun and they're very knowledgeable. I also found that some of the highest quality product in town are here. Including some bad ass concrete stains. I use Jill's paints to paint my entire 20,000 square-foot venue just last year. Everything looks perfect and they have been very helpful at matching colors and getting me new swatches. I love Jill's and I definitely I recommend them to all. PS. Most adorable dog ever roaming around the shop too. Doesn't get much cooler than that. read more

In search of a Benjamin Moore color we wanted to paint half of our bathroom in, we were fortunate enough to come across Jill's paint, only 10 minutes away from us. Maybe because the paint department at our local Home Depot are moronic potheads who'd screwed up our paint orders on more than one occasion, but the customer service at Jill's is probably some of the best you'll ever receive at any home improvement store. Not only did they mix our color with the their suggested finish for our project, but one of the guys was upfront and honest enough to suggest NOT buying a gallon, and only taking a quart, which he felt would be sufficient for the job. Who does that??? No one, that's who. Best part about this was that he was correct, and in fact, we were able to complete the job with the quart, and still had enough for some touch-ups. Although their prices may be a bit higher than the big corporate stores, you will find everything and anything you need for your painting projects, in addition be assisted by people who know what they're talking about. Not by some stoner that works there because his sister is doing the manager, like the other big store... read more

5 people working. All enjoying talking to each other loudly and playing with their dog in the store. Not helping my friend and I for almost 20 minutes. Never even offering a "can I help you find something." Not even a hello. I'm glad they are having fun at work, but they're annoying. I'm never going back. Surly checkout. Some of the employees are actually nice, like the guy who mixed our paint. However, this is overall an irritating and frustrating store. Their paint choices are better and more PC here, but I get better customer service at home depot. Fuck chainstores? I say fuck mom n' pop stores after this. Ooh i'm being oppositional. read more

Great customer service. I bought a gallon of paint and it slipped out of my hand it opened spilling paint on sidewalk They came out to clean it up and the made me another gallon of paint at no charge. Really great people. I would recommend them read more

I was very pleased with the service and paint from Jill's paint. They mixed the perfect hue for me and had books and books of colors for me to chose from. Especially helpful were recommendations for water-resistant bathroom paint that was not oil based. I bought several "environmentally friendly" paints and they were great. Nice coverage and sheen. The paints are a bit more expensive than from a Home Depot--so if you're doing a huge job, I'd go there, but for the special touch--trims, small rooms, unique colors, paint that doesn't hurt the environment and knowledgeable, friendly customer service, I'd definitely go back to Jill's. read more

I've been using this place since they opened. It's a couple bucks more sometimes but worth EVERY penny. I went in there again today to have a tricky color mixed for my tricky bathroom project. They nailed it as usual. And I got a glass of wine to relax while they did it. Donuts in the morning, wine in the afternoon. Mixed with a store that uses zero VOC tints and can actually MATCH colors, this is the best paint store I've ever been in. And I've been in a lot and painted more rooms in my lifetime than I care to mention. If you need paint matched, don't go anywhere else. Seriously. read more

My husband and I just purchased a new home and wanted to paint the entire interior before moving in. This included walls, ceilings, closets, baseboards, kitchen cabinets, etc. In our previous home, we painted with Sherman Williams and the paint chipped pretty quickly and then we painted with Benjamin Moore and saw an incredible difference in terms of coverage, vibrance and durability. We came in to Jill's paint to choose our colors and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Marc was especially helpful in selecting the finishes of paint and making recommendations on the type of primer we should use on our cabinets. Our house looks amazing and we are grateful for Marc's help. Even my painter commented on how well the primer worked on our cabinets and the quality of the paint we chose. Everyone in the store was wearing a mask and adhering to COVID safety protocols. I highly recommend Jill's paint for their excellent customer service, superior product and overall paint expertise. read more

Carla, Andrea, and Laura are awesome they stayed up after closing to make 20 samples. I had a hard deadline and was running late. Their Aura paint is great, can't go wrong. The very best place to go for paint for your house. The nice and helpful staff actually knows about paint and painting, the store is small but with a huge selection, and you don't have to deal with a giant home improvement factory just to get a can of pink non-toxic paint for your bathroom. If you are painting and want to enjoy the experience, start here. I would drive 20 miles to got to Jill's, but thankfully I live only 2 miles away. read more

I really want to support a local family run business, but I cannot recommend Jill's Paint. First time I went in, I was told that no, they could not color match a different brand by the color name, only the number. So I go back for a second trip with the number, when another employee simply looked up by the name. So thanks for the needless second trip to the store... First time I was also in a disheveled hurry due to my things arriving from storage (where my paint supplies would be), and I asked, repeatedly, if there was anything I was forgetting (I hadn't painted in years, and I also keep all supplies at home, when not in storage...). She let me walk out without a paint key or a stir stick. Really? This is the same person who wouldn't match a color by name, and upon my 3rd visit, handed me my credit card slip and then wandered away without a word. Someone else had to say, "I guess you're done." I also picked up a brush (on sale, admittedly) when mine were still in storage, that was the worst money I've ever spent. Don't skimp on brushes! Get Purdy or equivalent, and save yourself time and hassle. I wish I could have gotten my paint at some other local store, but Jill's carries the zero VOC Benjamin Moore (I used the Ultra Spec 500 at a reasonable price). Which is far better than the Olympic that claims to be zero VOC, by the way. That was stinky for days. I got my later samples at OSH for $5 rather than Jill's $7. Also, S. Pasadena OSH was far more helpful regarding color questions, customer service, and knowledge. The kicker? The gallon of green paint I would have been done with by now was the WRONG COLOR. So I edged a complicated room in a celery green that looks nothing like the sample blob of grey-green on the wall (and I spent the time and money on samples this time! And green goes on looking white, so I didn't know this till later, after the work was done). So instead of finishing my paint job this Sunday, I spent it going to OSH to find out what went wrong with the color. Grrrrr. One star for their selection of nontoxic products, but otherwise, boo. And since Yelp doesn't allow one star, I gotta go with 2 because they didn't cause any bodily harm nor as much of my time as my one star reviews. (Though I have yet to get a resolution on a refund for the wrong gallon, which I am trying to address with Benjamin Moore, so far unsuccessfully. I do not want to have to make yet another trip to Jill's...) read more
