Went to Bovine's for dinner with friends. Staff were welcoming and we were seated fairly quickly. The view from our seats was wonderful and added to the meal. Food was good. I had steak, my wife seafood. They had a salad bar which I don't see often. It was good. The highlight may have been the hush puppies they served in advance of the meal. I generally don't like hush puppies, but tried one and then couldn't stop eating them. Server was busy, but was attentive to our needs. The only down side...the food took awhile to arrive which surprised me since they weren't overly full. Otherwise it was a generally good dining experience. read more

We went to Bovine's this evening for my daughters birthday. We had a friendly waitress who was lazy. She left salad plates on the table and was basically inattentive. The food was good, but she was poor at best. She didn't even ask if we wanted desert or coffee. We all ordered steaks and lobster too. I had to bite my lip to even leave her a tip. Beautiful location. If you are able to request a table in the back section do it - a great view of the marsh. First of all the hush puppies are addictive. If Krispy Kreme made hush puppies here they are! Started with oysters on half shell. Very pricy at $19 for dozen but excellent. I had the special of the night. Twelve oz ribeye with grilled asparagus, cheddar potato hash and a pork belly sauce. Excellent! Steak not quite as thick as I prefer but the taste made up for it. Sides were superb. Wife had crab cakes. Large lightly breaded and wonderful. She also had shrimp corn chowder soup. Delicious. Excellent service by Caleb. Highly recommend Bovines. (Feel sorry for the hostess. The food was awesome. I had a steak and my husband had the catch of the day which was mahi mahi which he said was very good. We also shared a crab cake appetizer that had very good flavor and the lemon butter sauce with capers was creamy and tasty. If we go back to Murrells Inlet we will definitely go back to Bovine's! We have vacationed in the area for many years and always eat at least once at Bovines due to the food being okay and the setting/views being outstanding. The service was very slow the last visit...it took well over an hour to receive our entree order. There was only two of us and it was our last night of vacation. The entire family of 15 had eaten at Bovines earlier in the week. When the food was served we mentioned it was cold and the server went to get the manager without us asking. A middle aged male addressed our table, can't recall his name. It was clear he didn't want to hear our complaint when he started defending himself upon arrival. He was extremely rude to us. This wasn't typical of the customer service we had always received at Bovine so we asked to speak to someone else. He replied that he was the "owner" and at that point we knew there wasn't anything else to say. There are many dining choices in the area with nice views and good food that provide excellent customer serivice. We nor our family and/or friends will return due to lack of curiosity shown for the "owner". read more

My best friend and I vacationed in Myrtle Beach, SC earlier this month. We visited this place 2 yrs ago and enjoyed dinner then. The food was still good. I can't really identify the type of cuisine it serves as it has steaks, ribs, chicken, shrimps and grits, and pizza. The service was good. Both times we went the dining was pretty empty. We had a party of 12. We waited an hour to be seated. We waited another hour and 15 minutes to get our food. The waitress refilled our drinks only after ten of us had nothing left to drink (around 35 minutes after taking our order). The manager said he was sorry it should be out soon. After that the manager made sure he never made eye contact with us again. Basically our table ordered one rib eye dinner, 2 fish dinners and 5 pizzas and 2 spaghettis' for the little boys. The person who liked their dinner was the one who ordered the rib eye. If you have a party of two you maybe okay. Go at your own risk! We were looking for an open place on a slow rainy night, and this was recommended by a few people. It was Okay. Service was somewhat slow for a very slow evening, and the food was so-so. I ordered the meatloaf, which was overshadowed by the asparagus. My child ordered the pasta Alfredo dish, which was very bland. Most disappointing were the hush puppies that were brought out - soft and chewy. The beer selection was decent, but I don't know if I'd go back except to try something off their grill, which looked interesting. read more

Terrible experience! Waitress/service was extremely slow. My daughter was served a burger made of bad meat. Not sure it was rotten but something definitely wrong with it. Other daughters chicken was burnt. So burnt I'm surprised they plated it and served it! Other food was warm but not fresh. Chicken on Caesar salad was so salty we couldn't eat it. Won't be back! So to be fair, it was an intolerably hot day in Myrtle Beach that day. 105 degrees with the heat index. They sat us in the room with the best view (and it was a spectacular view!) but the AC either wasn't working or just not strong enough to cool the room with that many windows and doors to the outside. I started feeling kinda sick due to the heat so I didn't enjoy my food as much as I'm sure I would have if I felt better. I had the seafood combo platter and tried the corn pudding as recommended. You got an enormous serving of food! Everything was cooked to perfection too. You got a huge piece of fish, clams, shrimp with sides for (I think) $25. Not bad at all. I loved the corn pudding! I recommend no matter what you get that you start with that or have it as a side with your meal. My kids split the salmon and got an order of crab legs and they said everything was really good. (I was miffed that they didn't offer me any crab but oh well... ) My husband had the same thing as me but a smaller plate and he enjoyed it as well. The salad bar was really fresh and well stocked. I would love to go back when it's not so hot so I can enjoy the food more and the view! I do recommend this place so check it out if you're in Myrtle Beach but just go when it's not so ungodly hot! read more

I would like to give this place a better review but honestly, I was turned off by my server who acted as though she had no interest in doing her job. I watched tables being waited on by other servers receive the complimentary hush puppies but was not brought any or even offered. When I asked about what kind of oysters they served, her answer was "you mean raw or fried?" - and when I asked where they were from, she said she thought maybe Delaware, that was what they had said last night. As someone who has over 10 years experience in the service industry, the correct answer when you don't know is "I'm sorry, I do not know, but let me check for you." Needless to say, when the wood fired pizza came out lukewarm, I wasn't shocked. It was tasty, but it wasn't worth mentioning to her when she checked back 10 minutes later. I mentioned it to the manager who checked on us, but she didn't seem to care either. I did ask my server about the hush puppies when she was getting ready to bring the bill and her answer was "oh yes, those are complimentary, did you want some to go?". No honey, I wanted them when I got here like everyone else, thank you very much. With so many options along the Strand and an overpriced menu, I do not think I will be back. The wood fire grill smell drew us in. The view from the deck was amazing. The food however, was not. I was disappointed that there were only fried seafood options. My husband and I ordered the calamari app. It was nothing special. The salad bar was odd. I didn't really like going inside and leaving our view to make my own salad. I prefer a plated salad. I ordered a filet, mashed potatoes and vegetables. The filet was well cooked, but again, not special in any way. The potatoes were very very garlicky. Inedible. And the menu mentioned nothing of garlic. The vegetables were frozen and microwaved. Also inedible. My husband ordered the daily special. Steak on top of smoked Mac and cheese with panko breaded asparagus. The Mac and cheese was simply Mac and cheese with barbecue sauce in it. The steak was so "grissly" that half was left on his plate. The asparagus wasn't trimmed at the bottom so each piece had a nice woody handle. Sad because it was the tastiest thing. His meal was honestly a disaster. Worst $107 meal ever. The saving grace was our view. But we could've gotten that next door. Don't waste good money here. There are plenty of restaurants with great views and much better food. read more

Great as always. This is one of my favorite places to eat, always consistent. If you get there before dark you can have a nice view of the marsh. Service is really good. I always get the fillet it's hard to beat. They also have really good pizza. They serve hush puppies for a free appetizer they are great. Must stop when your in the area. read more

Overall a very pleasant experience. We did not have a reservation and elected to wait at the bar. Before we could finish one drink, we were seated. When we asked the hostess if we could be moved to a better view, she went to check, came right back and moved us. Hubby and I both had the ribeye. It was delicious, cooked perfectly. Went back for our second visit to bovine's as our previous experience last year was positive. Last night however, we had sub par service, with very slow follow up from the waitress. The parking lot across the street where you pay $5 but get a voucher to the restaurant is a tacky way to start the experience in my opinion. Our waitress forgot to get us hush puppies and said they were cooking more. After seeing other servers run out several baskets, we reminded her and got a small basket. When we asked for more we were told the machine was broken. That was one of the main things we liked about the place last time. After expressing this to the manager, all we got was a sorry. You'd think they'd say, here's a 10 certificate, come back and try us again. Also, I thought my steak was a little over cooked since I asked for med rare, and got med/med well in my opinion. I took 8 guests here last night. They have a special on wood fired pizza's on Monday's. We had a 5:30 reservation and arrived and were seated and ordered pizza's and other entrees. Our orders were delivered at 7:15 after two conversations with the manager who said " what do you expect - it is our pizza special night". The pizza that was delivered to our table was not wood fired and was doughy and undercooked! We just wanted to get out of there but it took another trip to the manager to finally get our checks. Worst experience I have ever had in the inlet and was embarrassed to bring out of town guests! If you want to entice coustomers by running a special you better be prepared to serve them. I would also look into your management coustomer service! read more

This is our go-to place since Oliver's Lodge closed. The food is really exceptional and the service is great too. Portions are huge-- we usually split something and just order another salad. Salmon on grit cake, while not the typical Murrell's Inlet fare, is quite yummy. read more

It really pains me to give Bovine's such a low review. I have been coming every 2-3 years since I was a kid. It has always been a must for us when we stay in Surfside. The last time I visited in 2010, I felt that they were slipping with the food quality. I went again last week, and the food was just bad. The complimentary hush puppies were the best part of the meal. My parents and I shared the calamari and Caesar salad to start. Both tasted bland and the quality was poor. I'm pretty sure the marinara sauce was poured from a jar. We each got a pizza to share. We had the BBQ chicken, pepperoni and margarita. The crush is AWFUL. That leftovers that we had went straight into the garbage. The only thing Bovine's has going for it now are the beautiful views of the water. Get your act together Bovine's! It takes a lot for me to register a complaint about a restaurant but this place pushed me there. The salad bar was OK but it ends there. My wife had the shrimp dish. The breaded shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. The garlic mashed potatoes were ice cold...really ice cold. I had the worst meatloaf I've ever tasted along with a baked potato that was totally undercooked. I pulled the waitress aside and informed her of the problems. It stopped there. No apology ...no visit from the manager....no nothing. I will never be back. read more

A local and first time diner at Bovines, we arrived early and were offered a table by the salad bar, in total view of the restroom doors. It was explained to us that several unoccupied tables with a better view in the dining room were reserved for the anticipated dinner crowd due to arrive in a half hour. The room became uncomfortalbly warmer as diners arrived and glasses sweat in puddles on the marble table. During our dinner, the heat and humidity increased as we realized the doors to the restrooms (not air conditioned) and doors to the outdoor bar were wide open as servers and guest moved freely in and out. The food was mediocre and overpriced for the substandard dining experience. I must say our server was outstanding and I felt sorry that her efforts to deliver a good experience was hindered by the conditions surrounding her. There are better places to work where a server can be proud of guest services. I work in the service industry and understand what good customer service should be. read more

This was our first time eating at this restaurant. Called ahead to ask about food allergies (peanuts and tree nuts). The manager and a waitress confirmed there were no nuts in their food. Once at restaurant we confirmed with our waitress of no nuts. We had excellent service and the food was fantastic. Large portions and a great salad bar! In terms of the Bar and the dining area, this place is great. Great being right on the inlet when weather is great because it is screened in with a great breeze with huge wood tables. As far as the food, it is average at best. They also have a salad bar that makes the golden corral look like a five star restaurant. The layout on the salad bar is ghetto and it is based around fattening dressings and iceberg lettuce. Ice berg lettuse is the equivelant to eating nothing for thos that dont know and that think the salad bar is a good deal. I got the mixed grill and left knowing that i could have cooked that same meal at home for a fraction of price. Also i asked if i could have my mahi blackened and other stuff grilled and he said the kitchen would get mad as it is all or none. Oh ok, sorry i dont want to burden anybody that is working-my bad- i thought i was paying for my meal. All in all, divine dining group is known for not catering to its customers as i have numerous grievances with california pizza. Divine dining group deserves to go bellly up. They think they are alot better than they really are. I lived in myrtle for 5 years, but after living in urban areas and metro areas as well it has become just how bad divine really is.
