The food was phenomenal--honestly, some of the best pizza around, with incredible crust and wildly creative, delicious toppings that completely hit the spot. What made our evening even better was our waiter, Jason. He was fantastic! His great personality, high energy, and excellent recommendations added so much to our meal. Pizza Failure - we ordered a pie through the online system, it was ready on time (even though you do not receive notice its' done) and headed off to the beach. When we opened the box the pizza looked like the pie was cooked and then the toppings were added afterwards. The pepperoni and mushrooms (all four of them), were scattered about like they were an after thought barley heated through - I wish I took a picture of this mess we received, we've had frozen pizza that was much better than what we were served. Such a disappointment, a small 10" pie for $18 and then they want a tip for pickup by the customer even after charging for using their online ordering service. I don't know if this was an isolated instance but with so many great restaurants in the area we're scratching this one off our list. read more

Taking a golf cart ride down the ocean front and decided to make a stop into the Pizza Hyena for a snacky snack. It was a beautiful day and plenty of outside seating! You can choose ocean view in the back or the people watching in the front! We enjoyed an ice cold beer ... can never go wrong there! Then we enjoyed the jalapeño pimento cheese spread with freshly baked pizza crust for dipping! DELICIOUS!!! One waitress was full on Mardi Gras mood with a super fun outfit. What a great surprise! Parking can sometimes be a challenge but it's worth it! They have a large bar where you can either sit outside or inside. There is also seating inside and tables. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We were ordering takeout for 20 people and the staff helped us to pick out the right number of pizzas. While we waited we got the pretzel sticks and they were really good. I have a garlic allergy and they made a special order just for me without garlic butter. I ordered a few draft beers and they have a good variety of local and national beers and a full bar. Our pizzas were delicious and everyone loved the variety. We will definitely be back! read more

This was our favorite dinner in Surfside. Just genuinely good pizzas at a great price. Service was quick and our waiter was very attentive. We wish we could have sat outside but were able to be seated immediately inside which also gave us views of the TVs. This is a great spot for families, we brought our two month old and they had plenty of space for her bassinet stroller and there were many bigger kids around. We got the $2 miller lite bottles, cheesy bread to start, Caesar salad and a variety of pizzas all of which were great. We'll definitely be back during our next trip to Surfside. read more

Very small inside but cute and well done! The service was amazing & we honestly all loved it. The GF crust is a cauliflower crust but it's actually pretty good which is hard to do. And it didn't hurt my stomach at all (TMI) which is unheard of for a GF cauliflower crust! I got the "Old Macdonald (EIEIO)" and it was really good. It was LOADED with toppings! We also got the hot hyena honey wings, which are gluten free as well because they're oven baked instead of fried! and ON MY GOSH, they were delicious! 100% recommend you get those to try! In town visiting family and I get a craving for pizza. It was packed and we waited approx 10 minutes for an outside highboy table. There was entertainment going on, which was nice for the evening. The beer menu is very limited compared to other places, and this is surprising as beer and pizza go together and it would have been nice to have more of a selection. The pizzas are considered to be a single serve, but it could easily be split between two people. We got a pepperoni, an hawaiian, and a mozzarella basil. The crust was good, but the sauce was tasteless. Plenty of pepperoni on the one...plenty of ham and pineapple on the other.....but the mozzarella basil was really lacking in the basil. This area is a tourist trap, and I don't think businesses realize that unless you put out the best food ever, there are other options to choose from when in town. read more

i just moved to the area and was so excited to find a good oven pizza place. i heard all good things about pizza hyena so i went to go check it out! as it looked amazing, the atmosphere was great, but the service was just okay. our server spilled water on our table and didn't clean it up, forgot our order (it was literally just 2 pizzas: margarita and pepperoni). i watched a table come after me, get appetizers and their main pizzas, finish and leave before we got our 2 little pizzas. once we got our food, my crust was so burnt and there was literally only like 3 globs of cheese on my pizza. i checked yelp because i thought that there was no way this amazing place fumbled a margarita pizza this badly. idk what the kitchen and staff was smoking but i was very very upset i paid that much money for a 10 inch burnt crust with red sauce and parmesan (i don't really like parmesan on my pizza too but i had to add it to make it edible.) oh and get this lmao whoever made the pizza put cilantro on it... not basil... i was so confused. i was so hungry and our server didn't check on us so i just ate it. later our server told me that it was insanely busy for a monday night (there were like 6 parties of 2 in the restaurant and like 4 servers... lol so busy!) anyways, i bet this place usually rocks, and sorry for the one star rating, but i just think cardboard with red sauce would have been a better dinner. read more

First off, rating pizza is difficult for me because my sales territories had me up in the northeast and especially NYC/LI for so many years. You get sort of spoiled on the pizzas up there. With that in mind, the pizza here was better than most in the area. I liked that it came in one size which I could have eaten on my own but shared with my wife. The beer was cold and the guy behind the bar was quick to give us new beers when we finished our first. This is definitely a pretty good spot to watch some football but it seems there are quite a few Ohio State fans in this area now. It looks as though it could definitely have a party atmosphere in the restaurant in the evenings. Overall, a good but small restaurant. read more

I've been meaning to try this place out for a few years but it's just kept going to the wayside. And man am I sad I took this long to eat here! My husband and I split the prosciutto pizza and pimento dip, both were excellent! I love arugula on any kind of pizza and prosciutto is a perennial favorite of ours. A warning that the inside is definitely loud and I wish the trend of uncomfortable metal chairs would go away, but the food was delicious and I would absolutely eat there again! We ended up visiting all 3 of the restaurants owned by this group over the course of our trip and all 3 were great, but this pizza was the absolute standout. read more
