I have been on a Pho kick lately so visited my goto place in Broomfield near POM and I visited a place in Layfayette. I have to say that Boulder Pho has some great Pho. The broth is great, the noodles of course are good, and the amount of meat is what separates this place from many others. I love tendon and tripe. Rare beef is pretty good too but my fav is tendon and tripe. When I get tendon at Boulder Pho it is in big beautiful melt in your mouth chunks with just enough texture. The other places just didn't match up to the quality and amount of tendon and tripe that Boulder Pho serves up. Love their Pho and really appreciate the quality and quantity! read more

My favorite thing Boulder Pho does is they include a bowl & spoon for your order, so it's great when you want no dishes or have no dishes available. I think their broth is really sweet and lacks depth. I'm not sure if it's a vegetarian broth across the board (I always order rare steak), but it doesn't taste like the oxtail broth I crave. There comes a time when an individual is introduced to Pho and then he/she realizes that all of existence before Pho was a lie and true reality only comes from the consumption of the soup. A nice little spot in Boulder for great dishes full of flavor and at fair prices. Friendly staff and quick service make this the go-to for me when friends are in town or if I need my Pho addiction sated. A fairly expansive menu allows you to explore other parts of the Vietnamese cuisine and I would recommend it, I haven't had a bad meal there yet! Found my way here after trying multiple Pho restaurants in Boulder, and wanting another option. Sat at the bar for lunch, and was greeted quickly. The server was friendly. I found it a little odd that they had about 20 water glasses already filled on a bar top. This is the water they give you when you are seated, there's no ice. I looked at the menu for a few minutes, they had quite a few choices, but I was in the mood for Pho, so I didn't spend a ton of time looking at what else they had. Soup arrived quickly, and I asked for ice for my water, which they quickly brought to me. The soup itself was ok, I didn't think the broth had a ton of flavor, but it was good enough, and perfectly hot. The large was way too big for one person, but for $10, a helluva deal. There wasn't many people in for lunch while I was there, but the weather was nice, so probably not a lot of people wanting hot soup for lunch. Overall, I would try it again. read more

Wow. What a delicious bowl of pho. Week 5 into the pandemic and I had basically given up on ever having a good bowl of pho ever again. But with ten inches of snow outside I was desperate and I decided to risk it... I was going to order delivery pho. Oh my god. I am not lying when I say I was elated when I opened up the delivery bag. The toppings and steak and broth were all separated out and it even came with a bowl to eat the pho out of. I was getting ready to microwave the broth but when I had a preparatory sip it was so hot! Everything I could have wanted was delivered with my order. It even came with a couple of hoisin and sriracha packets. Seeing the basil and sprouts and lime wedges... oh my goodness. It was amazing. My wife got sesame chicken with fried rice and we also ordered crab wontons. They were also super good! But honestly, the surprise of how good delivery pho was. Nothing will ever top that! read more

This place was yummy! I can never turn down good pho and this did not disappoint. Shrimp/pork spring rolls were amazing, some of the best I've had and the banh mi pork sandwich was good as well but I would ask them to put cilantro on it next time. I got a small rare beef pho and the portion size was big for just being a small. Everyone was really nice but service wasn't super fast, I think they were a little busy but we weren't in a rush so I didn't really care. Boulder Pho is a great addition to an area that's lacking good traditional Vietnamese food. The broth used in their pho was well balanced and flavorful, which makes it that perfect dish on a cold day. They offered a good variety of options to add to your pho. So if you looking for something more basic like steak & brisket, or something more adventurous like tendon & tripe, know you are in good hands. All that being said, I was disappointed with two aspects of my experience. First, it was a disappointment that they didn't offer a durian smoothie, which is something I'm accustomed to at Boston Vietnamese restaurants. Second, the com suon dac biet was missing traditional aspects to it, such as the fried egg, and the beef was too chewy. Overall, it's a great addition to Boulder and I'd recommend it if you are looking for some good pho. read more

Ooooo so yummy especially on a cold day! Prices and size of the Pho were great! I order the beef Pho with veggies and the price was so good even with those added veggies! We also had the spring rolls with the peanut sauce and again those were also yummy! They have a lot of areas to sit and the restaurant is plenty big during busy time such as dinner. Be careful about where google maps brings you because our brought us to the wrong strip mall so it took a little longer than planned to get to this place but it is sort of hidden in the corner of the strip mall off the Main Street. Servers and employees were great and very attentive. I'd definitely give this spot another try! read more

We ordered delivery and were very happy we did. We ordered the rare steak pho, egg rolls, and crispy wings. The pho was packaged nicely, the meat was fresh, raw and pink,the veggies perfectly fresh, and the broth beefy and hot. As solid a pho as you can expect. The egg rolls were crispy and delicious. The wings were just average, but they are wings from a pho place, so that is to be expected. Bottom line, if you want Pho and live in Boulder then you cannot go wrong with this place. This place has some really good pho! I've lived near Seattle before for like 3 years, and they have some of the best pho that I've ever had up in the Pacific Northwest, and I'm usually disappointed when I go out to eat pho anywhere else. Not at Boulder Pho! They have some legit, really delicious and fresh tasting pho being served up here. Also, their chicken spring rolls were really good too, and so was the peanut dipping sauce. TL;DR: We're neighbors, we frequent this place a lot and have consistent opinion that it is phenomenal food. This place has SOLID Vietnamese cuisine. I live walking distance from this restaurant and I frequent it more than its nearby Vietnamese neighbor, as I am consistently delighted by the quality, flavor, and freshness of their cuisine. Boulder Pho is hands down my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the city. This is in part because the folks there are awesome people who provide honorable customer service. But also because their Pho, Bun, and Entrees are exceptional for what you pay. Some noteworthy highlights: My personal favorite is the Combination Noodle Bowl (B10). The meat (pork & shrimp) are nicely marinated and seared on a grill, tossed with some delicious sauce I can't pinpoint or recreate, and dusted with scallions, shallots, and peanuts. I believe the shrimp has been marinated in lemongrass, which brightly contrasts the darker marinated grilled pork. Goes awesome with the crispy Vietnamese Egg roll that comes with the bún, too. Next is my wife's favorite: Tái Pho (2). Consistently comes with a nice side of bean sprouts, lime, jalapeños and basil, which pairs very well with the thick, rich broth that you can tell has been stocking-it-up all day in the kitchen. The broth super flavorful; I make my own stock and I can't reproduce this depth. I can't tell you how often we've ordered or eaten at Boulder Pho specifically for this soup so that we can boost our immune systems when fighting whatever is floating around the office. We run down there and this magical goodness heals our near illness. That stuff is magic. Finally, if you love Tái Pho but want even more flavor (how is this possible?!), order the Vietnamese Hot and Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (V9) from the Special Soup menu. That soup is ON POINT legit! Lots of flavor, a touch of spice that gets the nose running, this is a sublime soup for those cold Boulder nights after a bike ride or walk around town. Don't forget to try the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, a delicious plate of crispy Vietnamese Egg Rolls (K2), and their liquor license is in now, as well! read more

The pho is good, and reasonably priced. The protein portions are generous and they allow for almost any combination of proteins. The banh mi (sandwich, I had pork) has absolutely no finesse. With all the great ingredients that they use for a pho service, they totally neglect this sandwich which could be so much more. The noodles were a big sticky clump that took some effort to break apart, but the meat was good.... except that I like tendon in my pho and the piece I got was tough and hardly edible. First, the pho is good, quite good in fact. I've been eating pho for 20 years, married into a large Viet family so I've got chops. Second, this is the only Viet restaurant that doesn't put the right herbs on their food - pho excepted - the spring rolls had no mint! I asked the server and he insisted mint had no place in spring rolls! This was bullshit and because I'm cauc I think he thought it was ok. Not ok. Third, the Goi (usually amazing Viet salad) and it too had no mint, and no rau ram; the spear-tip shaped herb that makes Goi different from cole slaw. Missing these herbs in this dish is a big deal for any restaurant that calls itself Vietnamese. Finally, the nuoc mam was overly sweet, and didn't have enough fish sauce in it, no lime juice, or garlic - it was quite pedestrian for Vietnam's most famous sauce. Get better Boulder Pho, or diners seeking authentic Viet cuisine may keep looking. read more

This authentic Pho restaurant is a huge coop for Boulder! I love this place. The pho stock is outstanding with both subtle and powerful flavors. We ordered the vegetarian pho and a meat pho. Both were excellent, whether it was the beef broth or the vegetarian broth. You can even mix and match. Pho stock/broth takes many hours to stew into something that's truly delicious. Boulder Pho hits this out of the park. We even asked for a few extra vegetables and they didn't even charge us for them. That was a nice surprise. New Pho place in Boulder!! Finally! I was really excited to check out Boulder Pho and hopefully find a closer substitute for the amazing Pho you can get in Broomfield. Boulder Pho has the best pho in Boulder by far. I like to judge Pho based on broth. Most places in Boulder have a salty soupy broth that really has no flavor, but Boulder Pho really tastes authentic and flavorful. The broth is served with chopped onions and green onions as well, which I love! I ordered the #10 with well done flank steak and brisket and it was amazing. The meat was perfectly cooked and served in generous portions. The sprouts and jalapeños served on the side were very fresh. The restaurant itself is BEAUTIFUL and really well decorated. It's located in a small shopping center right next to the Asian, Indian, and Mexican food marts; especially convenient for me to do some shopping after! More than one famous food critic has proclaimed the Banh Mi the best sandwich you can eat. I've been on a futile quest to find a good one in Boulder (Best I've found in the area is at POM in Broomfield) and have been frustrated at every turn. At You and Mee on the Hill they don't even call it a banh mi the ingredients are weak and the bread is wrong. Vina has occasionally offered an off-menu banh mi that is good but the one I just had a Boulder Pho blows the doors off anything I've had in the People's Republic. First, they nailed the bread. They must be getting it from the Vietnamese bakery down on Federal because everything is right about it. In a nod to the sandwich's French roots the roll is a soft baguette, just as it's supposed to be. It's easy to chew and doesn't flake or crumble. And it's fresh. I had mine filled with BBQ Pork which was straight off the grill. I know, that's a bit of an American twist but hell, the banh mi is a mashup anyway, right? And the sauce tasted like a blend of Hoisen and Tare. Perfect in my mind. I don't know why anyone would want beef or chicken on a banh mi but they were both offered. Thankfully, they didn't offer the traditional filling of pork liver pâté, an unfortunate mix of pork guts and fat curds. Key to a great banh mi are the vegetables: lots of cilantro, pickled daikon and carrots and crunchy slices of jalapeño. And of course, the whole thing is slathered with mayo or a sriracha aioli. Exceptional Pho, with all the meat choices expected, (predominantly beef) and even tendon and tripe, as well as shrimp and Kobe beef. Extra meat can be ordered for a couple bucks. 'Served in a choice of small, medium or large, I ordered a large which was a bowl about the size of a dinner plate! The medium bowl is sufficient for a good appetite. The broth was delicious and comforting on a rainy, cloudy day. The meat I chose was rare steak and tendon ('cause I'm weird that way). Served with ample amounts of basil (Thai basil?), green peppers (jalapeño?), bean sprouts and a lime wedge. It came out nice and hot, with Sriracha sauce and Hoi Sin sauce on the table and is all you could want. The fresh spring rolls were delicious and not just full of lettuce, like some places serve. The sauce was wonderful, yet I'd like more! The service is polite and fast. It has a somewhat spartan atmosphere, (modern minimalist?), with large panels of gray scale patterns on the wall reminding me of nature's patterns.
