I was really craving Thai food so I ordered delivery from here. I ordered the Pad CU Lunch ($9), which also came with an egg roll and miso soup. For $9 this whole meal was pretty good. The pad see ew really hit the spot and was exactly what I wanted for my Thai food. The noodles were cooked perfectly and were nice and sweet, although I think that the broccoli could have been cooked just a little bit more to be more tender. I also think that the dish would be perfectly fine without the purple cabbages. I just picked all of my out. The miso soup and the egg roll were nice additions to the lunch. The soup was really comforting although was a bit confusing since miso soup is more of a Japanese thing. The egg roll wrapper was still flaky and crispy when I received it and had a crunch to it. My meal was super satisfying for my craving and I was completely happy with what I got. Definitely would get this again. read more

I have lived by one mantra in My life and that is that I have never had BAD THAI! That was blown out of the water with Khow Thai of Boulder, Co. It started with the fact that ALL of the food delivery services they use stated they were closed, I called to check and they were indeed OPEN, but, couldn't deliver. I decided to drive down as it was only a Mile or so away. I am a huge fan of Beef Laarb, even inauthentic ones! I ordered this to eat in and I have no idea what they served, but, even after double checking with the staff that it was beef... it was WHITE/GREY and just about a single slice of tiny beef that tasted weird, off/bad almost. never mind it's appearance. I ordered a Green Beef curry to go and upon arrival home it was watery and again a minuscule amount of meat. I will add that the food across the two dishes was HORRENDOUS and completely INEDIBLE! , I will be attempting to get a refund from my Credit Card company as their website denied my "contact us" request...See pics! By far the best Thai food in Boulder! Everyone who works there is so nice, and everything I've tried on the menu is excellent. They're the only place I know of that will give you actual Thai Spicy, not a watered down version. Their Masaman curry is also great, and their Thai tea is not overly sweet. I rarely write reviews but this experience is worth sharing so other people are aware of the situation and can plan accordingly. We ordered dinner on a Sunday evening (around 5:50) and received an email confirmation that our food would be ready by 6:40. My roommate arrived at the restaurant by 6:50 and waited at the restaurant until 7:50 for the food to be ready. They did not notify us that it would be delayed and when we arrived they told my roommate it would be ready shortly. At 7:30 when he still did not receive the food, my other roommate and I attempted to call multiple times to discuss the hold up on our food and they hung up on us three different times. While we were trying to receive our pick up order, my roommate watched them serve food to people who had arrived to the restaurant after my roommate had and placed their order well after our order was supposed to be ready. All in all, we got our food but it took over an hour longer than we were told it would take and multiple attempts to figure out what was happening. They did give my roommate $30 cash as an attempt to make up for the delay. Needless to say I will likely not be returning to this restaurant. Again, I do not normally write reviews like this but I do feel this could be helpful for other patrons to be aware of. read more

I am a huge Thai food fan, and I honestly used to LOVE and swear by this place. But in the past year or two the quality has just decreased tremendously. :( I don't know what happened, but now when I go I feel like Know Thai's food is increasingly flavorless, their noodles (like the wide noodles used for Drunken noodles) are really weird and mushy now, not even resembling what they're supposed to look like, and I just think their food is overall disappointing at this point. Really sad leaving this review cuz Know Thai was my go to before, but yeah :( I kept trying to give it another chance continually, but I've been continually disappointed over the past year, waiting for the quality of the food to come back. read more

Well it has been a long minute since I last posted a review. The truth is, I have just been very busy with work and life in general, and we really haven't ventured out a lot to new eateries late... but we did check out a place we've been driving past for well over a year. My partner and I moved to Boulder from the SoCal/LA area, which (if you were not aware) was the west coast birthplace of Thai quinine in the USA. So needless to say, we eaten at a lot of very good, very authentic Thai restaurants. Khow Thai is a tasty gem in Boulder on Broadway just north of 'The Hill' area. The service was fast and friendly. The food is was amazingly delicious and as authentic as it get. We saw as we were leaving Khow Thai, that they were voted 'Best Thai' in Boulder for the last several years. Khow Thai sticks out now because years it ago it blended right in. The changing commercial real estate architecture in this area has made it so that previously unassuming enterprises now pop out from their surroundings. Inside, the decor feels a couple decades more modern, comfortable, and coherent with my conceptions of Thai restaurants. I ordered the pad kee mow, American hot; never go Thai hot on a first date (or, in this case, a first visit to a specific Thai eatery). The lunch menu has a lot of other enticing Thai classics, running the gamut of curries and rice and noodle dishes etc. Pleasantly, I soon found that entrees are also accompanied by an egg roll and a cup of miso soup. Tasty starters! The pad kee mow hit the table steaming. Love it when my noodle dishes are served hot. Wooden chop sticks were procured and I stirred everything together for good measure. From the first bite, I was pleased with my food. The chicken was a standout, cooked just right. The noodles were springy and combined well with the broccoli and green peppers. I ate my fill, and took the rest home. Pretty yummy! The prices here aren't bad, either. I did find the "American hot" level to be underwhelming. Either I got a weak dose, or Thai hot really is what I need to quench my desire. I'd be happy to return someday and find out. read more

Here's some seriously tasty Thai food tucked in off Broadway in Boulder. Easy parking in the back was definitely a bonus. Inside we found a well appointed Thai boutique with plenty of seating and a most gracious waiter, who welcomed us in and got us settled with a delicious pork wonton appetizer. The menu was quite varied, so it was hard to choose, but we ended up ordering a cashew chicken and a fried rice with onions, shrimp and a smoky and subtle flavoring. The cashew chicken seemed a bit on the cool side when served, but the big flavor of the sauce wowed us with its complexity. Also a bonus for Boulder- $2 sodas with unlimited refills. Yes, really! The generous servings gave us enough to take to work for lunch the next day, another plus in my mind. Do yourself a favor and get to Khow Thai. When you are told your food will be delivered within an hour and you have to call them when it's been over an hour, then go pick it up yourself, and everything is cold, well that's not good business not is it a good dinner for your daughter's birthday. Initially the person I talked to apologized but only offered that the delivery company would refund the delivery and tip for driver. When your meal over $100 is cold, a refund of thermal or at least a credit would be the right thing to do. Poor customer service. But the delivery company, MenuStar did give a refund since the order was never delivered, so kudos to them for doing the right thing. We've always liked the food here before . . . Looking for a different Thai place now. read more

This place is awesome! I've driven by 100 times and seen their Best of Boulder sign showing off their multiple years of success, and I finally stopped in. For one, our waitress was amazing. She gave us the run down of the menu and highlighted all her favorite dishes. We ordered the Drunken Noodles and a Fried Rice dish along with some Spring Rolls. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and spicy! I have a peanut allergy which makes me a bit shy to visit Thai restaurants, but our waitress, Belle assured us that they'd hold the peanuts and no problem at all. We'll definitely be back! No wonder this place has been voted Best of Boulder for a ridiculous amount of consecutive years! Also, the ambiance is very cozy, nice lighting and warm, welcoming atmosphere. I had a horrible experience. I was passing through Boulder and decided to try this place. I called and placed a pickup order (COVID19). After placing the order they called me back and informed me they didn't have the main item I wanted and that the order was almost ready (pineapple fried rice) so I asked them to substitute it with something similar. At pickup, I explained to them I almost cancelled the order but they insisted it was almost ready - no apologies or offering anything for the inconvenience. About 10 minutes of waiting they give me my order - No utensils. I had ordered a tofu curry and in the car discovered they had given me a chicken curry. I don't eat meat so I couldn't eat this. The fried rice they had substituted was very bland. The drunken noodles were the only good thing I could eat. I called and asked them to refund the chicken curry since then had given me the wrong item - I had ordered tofu and even was printed in the receipt. They said they could give me a credit if I wanted to eat there again. I explained I didn't live in boulder so couldn't do that. Please do not support their business since they don't understand pleasing the customer and give meat to a vegetarian person and no apologies. read more

Khow Thai is my new favorite Thai food place in Boulder! I cannot rave more about the duck curry special. I love most curries, but this is one that I cannot get enough of! It has a surprising pineapple flare which pairs very well with the tender duck and other vegetables. Very flavorful! I have tried a few other dishes here which are also excellent! If you enjoy dessert afterwards, I'd highly recommend the mango sticky rice! A delicious sweet treat that I love to split after only eating about half of my main dish (always great leftovers for lunch the next day). The mango is tasty and refreshing. I find this dessert delightful with a mix of lightness and fullness. Khow Thai has dine-in and take-out options. More recently, I've been doing take-out. Let me preface this by saying that I found out at the end that the night I was there was the night the owner, who is Thai and the cook (I was told) was not there. The service was wonderful. Attentive and kind people. The food was less than expected. It was for sure edible, as we finished most plates. But it was lacking in authenticity. The papaya salad was waaaayyyy to salty, for one thing, though did pack a good spice punch. My girlfriend lived in Thailand for 3 years and I visited frequently, so take that for whatever it's worth. I wouldn't not recommend it, just can't recommend it for authentic Thai. And I would say we would most probably not come back. So this place has a sign that says they were voted "Best Thai in Boulder" for nine consecutive years in a row. If this is the case, Boulder is in trouble. A group of six of us went here on Saturday night and the from the moment we walked in, it was as if we made the staff feel inconvenienced. We came in and three different people helped us so that was nice but there was really no order as to who was putting the table together. We waited for a few minutes and that gave us time to peruse the menu during that time so we were ready to order once we sat down. They put together a couple of tables for us in the back with worked out even though one was super wobbly. This place is on the small, intimate side which I dig so if you have more than six people it may not be the best choice for you. I wasn't sure who was out server since one girl with dark hair and a scowl brought us our waters then another girl in Ugg boots and a bit of an attitude was also helping us. Anytime we asked for refills of soda or water, they would roll their eyes or give a look and when dark hair scowl girl asked if I wanted my pad thai spicy, I couldn't really hear her and I don't think she liked that. I really wanted to put one finger in the air and give her my whole speech on how I have significant hearing loss in my right ear but I stopped myself before being "that girl". It didn't take long for the food to come out and as I ordered my pad thai American spicy, it wasn't that spicy and the portion was on the smaller side for the price tag it has on it.
