Visiting Boulder, I didn't think I'd find a solid Chinese restaurant, but Yummy Duo is indeed yummy. First impressions coming in, fairly busy, but the waitress was able to guide us to a table. Table was a bit dirty, but the waitress eventually came to clean it up. Ordered the Yushan Eggplant and the Chongqing Chicken. Had low expectations coming in, but it was pretty good. Eggplant is what I think of when I want Chinese eggplant. Has the classic umami soy garlic sauce and wasn't hard or tough like I've had in other places in Denver. The Chongqing Chicken was also tasty with a good crunch and spice. I think the only thing with the chicken was the pieces were fairly small and there was too much starch around each piece. Otherwise, solid dish. It's overall a great family-run restaurant. The waitress had a kid there too, and it reminded me of home in a way. Would come back again to try their other dishes, and definitely would get the eggplant again. read more

They have no information on their website regarding gluten free options. I called to inquire and the lady who answered was very curt and did not seem to understand what I was asking. When I asked if they offer any gluten free items, she said "yes, we can do gluten free with the sauce." I asked what that means, is that for every menu item? Are you familiar with celiac? She assuredly and in a rushed tone said "yes, I have been working in the restaurant industry for 25 years I know what gluten free means" and then said she has a customer and had to go. Exceeded all expectations! The restaurant was clean and very welcoming and the host was amazing. Food was delicious and came out very fast, decent portions for the price. This might be some of the best Chinese food in Colorado. Everything we had was delicious, and came out very quick. Our server was very kind and attentive. Chongqing chicken is especially hard to find in this area, and it was amazing! The orange beef actually had a distinct citrus flavor unlike most other orange beef. Mapo tofu was also outstanding and hard to find done well in this state. Not pictured was our appetizers, we got the green beans and crab rangoons. The green beans were honestly a highlight, not soggy, very flavorful, and the perfect amount of spice. This will become our new regular spot for Chinese! read more

This is a cute little restaurant with a fantastic menu. The lady who greeted us was very warm and welcoming. For takeout, we ordered seaweed salad and coconut shrimp to start. Then we had the combo Singapore noodle and orange beef. Everything was delicious! We plan to go back next week and dine in and try some other dishes. What a gem! What a find! read more

Hands down one of the better Chinese restaurants in Boulder! Pricing was average for the Boulder area and I was very impressed with quality and portion size. Definitely enough for two meals. I got the Duo's salt & pepper chicken and Chongqing chicken. They both tasted amazing and very delicious the only complaint I would have was that chongqing chicken was lacking in flavor. The directions on google map sent me across the street but this place is on the Western side of 28th street between the Asian Grocery store and Boulder Pho in that small shopping center near Valmont. I called in a pick up order tonight which the lady answering the phone did not submit so when we went to pick up the order after she told me 10 minutes she said that she didn't have the order. She is the only one working there, I recognized her voice and she said she would have to put a new order in which cost us an additional 20 min wait. Outside of this issue, the sesame chicken we got to go was outstanding. Well flavored, not too salty and the stir fried veggies were a little on the bland side but we doctored it up at the house with a little Banchan sauce drizzle. We are from Honolulu where Asian food is king and this is the only good Chinese restaurant in the area. We will be back but don't trust calling in orders as the lady answering the phone has a short memory. lol. Hope this place stays in business and continues to be careful on the quality of the oil and freshness and the quality of the ingredients. Probably one of the most authentic Chinese spots in Boulder. Much, much better (American-style) take-out Chinese food than I have gotten for quite awhile in Boulder (admittedly, 5 stars is grading on a curve here...) Ordered Basil Chicken, General Tso, Sichuan Beef, Buddha's feast, all tasted fresh, not goopy or soggy, good flavor. [Although I should note I ordered hot for the first three, and given what I got I am glad I didn't order any medium.] Definitely will go back! read more
