Thai Basil Garlic Fries - Handcut french fries tossed with chef Josh's Thai basil garlic oil and Parmesan cheese on top. Nobody can beat their blackened salmon. It is always cooked to perfection. Their menu describes it as a panfried seasoning blackened salmon topped with Thai basil sauce (garlic, stir fried sauce, red bell pepper, onion, holy basil, and mushroom) served with Thai jasmine rice. My husband's fave is their Urban Thai Teriyaki. We go there at least once weekly. read more

One of the worst delivery meals ever. Where"s the Zero Star option? Sweet & Sour Pork was hard, chewy, flavorless, and indigestible. Chicken Lettuce Wraps were the farthest "thing" from that: a very small pile of burnt mung bean sprouts. The chicken was undetectable, as was any semblance of the traditional ingredients and usual seasonings. Way too much MSG throughout, in a desperate attempt to mimic any sense of flavor. Outstanding! The three of us came on a Sunday night around 6:00 and were able to get a table inside during this Covid era. We started with Edamame ($5) and my daughter loved them. Not sure what they added as it was a little sweet and very sticky. She also ordered the Pad Thai ($14) and couldn't stop talking about it. My bride ordered the Cashew Chicken ($14) and loved it! This shopping center appears to be doing very poorly, perhaps because of Covid, but many businesses are closed. When I arrived, the location was closed to dining on property. I waited at the hostess station and people kept going through the front door and around me to pick up their Door Dash orders for delivery. I'm glad they have a delivery mechanism. I ordered takeout pad thai, and there wasn't even any tofu or peanuts! I suspect that this location does not have a trained chef. Unfortunately, quality options for thai food in Longmont are not available. Get your fix in Denver at Chada Thai. Best Thai food in Colorado. read more

I'd probably give it a 3.5 due to the cost-portion ratio, but the food is good and I understand how hard the last few years have been on restaurants, so rounding up. Ooof...shocked by the great reviews here! Food was mediocre at best. Ordered egg rolls, chicken satay, and pad thai with shrimp tempura. In order, the eggs rolls were probably the best thing we had, and they barely had any filling. At least they were crispy and had decent flavor. No clue why they would add a ketchup/mayo sauce for this...seemed really off. Chicken satay was drenched in what tasted like a coconut cream sauce. Have NEVER had chicken satay like that, and not in a good way. Almost inedible. Pad thai was decent but the shrimp tempura was so aggressively doughy. Couldn't finish it. NOT the thai food you want to eat in the Boulder/Longmont area. read more

I visited Urban Thai one evening for dinner. I ordered my usual: a bowl of Tom Yum soup (with chicken), Som Tum (papaya salad), and their version of Drunken noodles (with chicken). The Som Tum was excellent. Lots of fresh, crisp papaya - and the spicy lime sauce was really good. I found the Tom Yum and Drunken noodles to be rather average. I would have liked to see more vegetable and more chicken in the Drunken noodles. There was a *ton* of noodles in the drunken noodles. Pretty decent Thai restaurant overall. Ambience is very welcoming. Tall roof. Urban and modern architecture embedded with the cultural heritage makes the environment very welcoming. Big windows to the outside increase the invitation to sit inside while they have an outside seating too. Opened at noon and there were a lot of people already. So cool. Our host was very efficient and gracious. Loved that. Ordered the sampler appetizer and it was gone before blinking an eye. The shrimp was well done. The mixed vegetable soup was shared by all. The garlic fries were awesome. I already asked our host to reward the kitchen staff with beer as an appreciation of the food. The Salmon Chu Cher was on fire at 5 spice level. But so tasty. I stopped by this place as a pitstop on the way to Denver and it was a great decision. The food was authentic and delicious, I also had the special 'Mango Sangria' which was very flavorful. The service was spectacular. Th food was fine but not memorable to me. We had the appetizer sampler, the red curry, the Thai basil, the shrimp scampi, and the Urban fish, which was the best bite of the night. I'd order this dish again. The dishes lacked the Thai punch I am used to. The curry was not thick and I don't enjoy the shrimp scampi dish. For dessert we had mango mousse and fresh mango with sticky rice. They were both good. I went to Urban Thai several years ago when it was relatively new. It was quite good then. I went last night for the first time in years wit my elderly Dad and a friend. We ordered several dishes with the intention of bringing home leftovers. Even though the place was almost empty, service was slow and inattentive. The appetizer was Thai wings and it was good. Then the mains came. We got street noodles, broccoli with beef, spicy ginger curry and some eggplant dish. Two of the dishes were completely different inedible due to way too much salt. I don't mean "on the salty side". There were horrible. None of us could eat a bite. In addition, the beef in the broccoli beef dish was super tough and couldn't be chewed. We returned two of the plates and asked for a re-do of the broccoli beef and replaced the eggplant with Penang curry pork. The new dishes came out. The broccoli beef was exactly as bad as the first version. The Penang Curry was actually pretty good. The two original dishes we kept were edible, but not good by any means. I don't know what's happened to the place as I used to be good, but I will never go there again. read more

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant in Prospect. We started with delicious pot stickers and had a variety of entrees with spice level 1-5. I went with a 2, which was just right for me. *Takeout/Delivery Review* You know that feeling when you are headed home from boarding in the mountains battered and wind bruised and the last thing you can imagine yourself doing is raising your arms above your waist to cook. This was me, Urban Thai was my solution. I was super excited to see via Yelp that they were offering delivery. It was super easy to see their whole menu online and to call and place an order. The delivery was super fast and basically met me at my house as I limped in ready for a hot meal to revive me. We ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai and Beef drunken noodles and both were just what the doctor ordered. Hot, just the right spice and delicious. We have now tried Urban Thai several times and I'm not sure we'll be going back. The flavors are just too bland and it just doesn't taste Thai. The two curries we recently ordered had no flavor - as if they forgot the curry paste. It was just milk. And like others have mentioned, the packaged carrots and peas as the vegetables are not appetizing. read more

Holy cow!!! 5 stars Urban Thai!!! This was our 2nd time going to Urban Thai and it was better than our last 5 star visit. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is well kept and tidy with all of COVID guidelines going on. We always seem to time it just right and get a patio seating! There are 3 tables outside and the rest are indoor... it's a hidden gem everyone so go give it a try! I had the same meal which is SO freakin' delicious. You ask what??? The Drunken Noodles with chicken and the spicy level of 3, 1 being least spicy, 5 being super spicy. I also tried the Phuket Sunset alcoholic drink, it was pretty good. My boyfriend on the other hand had the Pineapple Margarita our last visit, so he ordered another one this time. That Pineapple sure does the trick and it's dangerously delicious! The restaurant is located in the south part of Prospect right when you turn into the little area. Take an immediate left and you'll see it on the lefthand side. Well done!!! This place is Not Very Good. First things first, it's relatively expensive. That's not a huge deal but it's worth noting. There are many other Thai places in Longmont that are cheaper and have fresher, better food. They have virtually no vegan options. I didn't take any score off for this because not every restaurant has to accommodate my diet, but Thai places in particular should probably have vegan options (a tofu curry isn't even vegetarian--all the curries have fish sauce that can't be substituted). The thing that was probably most off-putting to me was the snark I got when I asked if certain entrees could be made vegan. The server said something to the tune of "well it's curry. Of course it's got fish sauce" I've been to a lot of Thai places and have never had this problem before. I'm glad I asked too because the information wasn't anywhere on the menu. I ordered something I was able to eat, paid quite a bit of money for it, and was disappointed with the quality of the meal. It wasn't *awful* but it was not worth the cost, and definitely not worth the poor service. I'm sure this is somebody's cup of tea. There were a lot of "modern" Thai fusion dishes that would probably interest others, but I was not at all satisfied with my experience. read more

A friend and I came here for girls night for the first time this week. I love the neighborhood it's in and the restaurant is small but nicely decorated. I'd read the Thai egg rolls (vegetarian) were not to be missed so naturally we started out with those. The creamy sauce was good but there could have been a little more (I was also really hungry and snarfed down the egg rolls so I could have asked for more sauce but didn't). It seemed to be a blend of siracha and mayo. My main dish was the tofu scampi. At a level 3 heat, it was a little warmer than I was expecting. The flavors were good but I found myself getting a little tired of them about halfway through my meal. The tofu was fried with pieces of caramelized garlic and chili. Some of the garlic was a little singed which is never good with garlic. There was a lot of garlic too - so much that my husband stayed far away from me when I got home and into the next morning. My friend ordered the special which was pad Thai with tempura shrimp. I tried a bit and thought it was quite delicious. Our server was also very friendly and enthusiastic about the food! read more

You can earn stars from me in a hurry based solely on service and I can't rave enough about their service. I ordered through GrubHub, but the system looked to have failed on my end (especially since everything was still in the Cart), so I re-ordered a big meal for the family a couple days before Christmas. Someone was nice enough to call from the restaurant to confirm that I had not intended to order TWICE and would cancel the second order so I didn't waste money. In this day of COVID and difficult times, that's such a breath of fresh air. Urban Thai seems to be a place we always go during our week-long trip to Longmont. However, it seems to always be around the last day of the trip after eating at our local favorites. It kind of *just* merits going. The Thai iced tea for $2.50 is a must. Unlike other places it's not very milky. We both like it and it's bottomless. Yay! The fries are intriguing. They come topped with sugar and spices - but mostly sugar - and two dipping sauces, a sweet chile one and spicy mustard one. The fries are good but too sugary. The tom yum soup only has chicken and mushrooms. It has a good funky flavor but I wish there were more veggies. While eating the lemongrass chicken, we wished we had knives to cut each piece in half. Overall it was pretty good, but it was a strange deconstructed dish with green chile sauce and cashews in separate plastic cups. The drunken noodles with tofu were good and garlicky. The basil chicken was fine but came with the same veggies (onions and red bells) as the drunken noodles, though one had a few cherry tomatoes. It would have been nice to get a heads up about that or to offer some veggie variety when that happens. The food is fine but I think I like this place more for the ambiance inside and outside the restaurant (it's in Prospect) than the food. read more

I've eaten in over 150 Thai restaurants over the past 30 years...all over America as well as having visited Thai restaurants in London, Toronto and Melbourne: I know good Thai ! This afternoon I ordered 'Chicken with Cashews' and was deeply disappointed because it was cooked in soy sauce. It was literally like eating liquid salt and sadly, no Thai spices. When I spoke to the waiter, he was very apologetic and immediately took the dish away saying that he would have it prepared again. Within an acceptable time, the second dish was returned and it was less salty but unfortunately still too salty! It's too bad because the vegetables and chicken were both top quality and cooked to perfection but the lack of real Thai spices along with an over-kill of salty soy sauce makes for a restaurant I won't be returning to any time soon. read more

Holy smokes. The restaurant did indeed upgrade their portions, huge and wonderful. Today I had the drunken noodles with tofu, Tom Kha soup with tofu and the mango sticky rice dessert. The drunken noodles were garlicky and delicious. The grape tomatoes cut through the sweetness with the perfect amount of bitterness. Absolutely yummy. And I'd kill someone for their tofu. It's firm and as mentioned, tastes like chicken. Tom Kha, just as before, spicy, lemony, salty, beautiful mushrooms...and no giant stalks of lemongrass so they improved it even further. I would like to order as an IV bag please :) And what's there to say about mango sticky (blue) rice. It's great. Would definitely try some baked goodies next time. Plan to go back often. We have eaten Thai food all over the US and this has to be the worst example of Thai food we have had. It wasn't even good by any other cuisine name. This is what we had and our comments: The water that was served was room temperature even though other people seemed to have cold water. We asked for ice. Chicken Lettuce Wrap - this was probably the best item we had even though it was far below any other restaurant's lettuce wrap that we have had. Vegetable Soup - we ordered the pot which comes in one of those asian metal pots that is supposed to have a flame under it to keep it hot. This one had no flame (the waiter said that they don't use the flame). The soup was only luke warm to begin with and cooled rapidly due to the metal bowl. The shape of the pot made it very difficult to serve especially since it came with long rice noodles. We finally sent it back. It was still on our bill and when we complained, they took $5 off the bill. It should have been taken off completely. Vegetables with peanut sauce and chicken - we ordered this with no spice. It was still spicy and when we complained, the waiter apologized but did nothing about it. Vegetables were overcooked. Street Noodles (otherwise known as Pad See U) with chicken - This dish was mostly noodles with a few pieces of overcooked broccoli. 95% of the staff is non-asian and I believe only 1 person in the kitchen was asian. The manager was asian. They obviously don't know much about Thai food. Further comment I forgot to mention the cleanliness issue. The table has plastic placemats. They don't change them for each new customer. I watched the server clean them and they gave them a little wipe with a cloth. Since they are made from a textured plastic, they hold any spilled food. A small wipe with a cloth will not properly clean the mat. read more

I have gone to this location over the past... Well, however long they been open, and have wavered on my review. I ate at Urban Thai about five years ago and would've given them a very very low rating, but I decided to try it again, thinking maybe it was an off day... I am glad I did! I really really like online ordering and find joy in that fact that they do online ordering! LOL... I order the Tom Yum soup, and also have ordered a few other subsequent dishes and I must say... very tasty! I am always wary of Thai restaurants or any upscale looking Asian restaurants... I really like a more low-key spot... it seems more authentic...But the food is honestly tasty. The only thing I will say is... their "cup" size of soup is really not a good value... It is absolutely tiny! You get more out of the "pot"... When you get to go, you get two full containers of soup! I hope that they tell their dining guess that this is just a very very very small amount of soup... other than that small gripe, the soup and the food is very very tasty! I do also recommend their fries with sugar and salt. I don't know if that is native to Thailand, LOL, but it is very good. read more
