This restaurant is horrible. The food is made of the absolute cheapest ingredients and tastes awful. One of those places you want to give a 0 star review, but can't because it's not an option. If you know what Thai food is supposed to taste like, DO NOT COME HERE! Everything was the horrible, we got two different noodle dishes and the Tom Yum soup. First time visitor of Colorado and we stayed in the Longmont area to hike the Rockies. After a tough hike we were left with few dining options on a weeknight and this was one of the few non-chain restaurants open. It's so important to support small businesses, however this is not one of them!! While Julie was friendly when I was ordering, but things seemed a bit hectic when I went into get our meal. The restaurant doesn't have dine in options, but it was dirty and messy inside. Our meal took longer than expected but Julie was nice enough. After I paid and tipped, I was provided a box to carry out my items which included a soup. I was super careful but it's a disaster waiting to happen. By the time we arrived to our hotel and started eating we realized the food tasted off. The Tom Yum soup was one of the worst soups I have ever tasted. It was made with the absolute crappiest broth concentrate - not authentic and it tasted SO SO BAD. The fake sour taste and the strange sweetness was completed by old tasting mushrooms and uncooked cherry tomatoes. Whyyyy????? The noodle dishes we ordered were also awful! We got the Pad Kee Mao and the Pad See Ew. The Pad See Ew was inedible, every bite was worse than the last. The sauce was horrible and inauthentic (like a dollar store version of sweet & sour?), and the chicken has a strange chewy texture. It was completely indelible. The Pad Kee Mao was slightly better but the chicken seemed old and dry. We were able to muster about 4-5 bites. We barely ate any of the food - we ended up having leftover bread and a few apples for dinner. If you want decent food, just go anywhere else. My experience was all around horrible, and when I got ahold of the restaurant, I was unable to get a refund. Absolutely not worth the time, money and effort to eat this food. If you want to wait an absurdly long time with crappy service this is the place for you... It took us over two hours to get three dishes. Apparently that's pretty normal for this place as I heard two men saying that when they left. The waiter was nothing short of a disgrace. He genuinely seemed like he didn't want to be there and had the worst attitude. For such a long wait we were never checked on and it took almost 20 minutes to get drinks. I'm not sure if it was the owner or whoever but when our food finally arrived she barely apologized or offered any sort of way to make it right. I don't know if they make every dish from scratch back there but that's certainly no way to run a restaurant. The pad Thai was lacking flavor and just seemed blah. I've had way better. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Front Range - a family-run place that checks all of the boxes. Delicious curries and stir fry with something for everyone, including vegans and gluten-free eaters. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the ambience is welcoming. After a fun filled day snowshoeing we were definitely hungry. Julie's is a cute little stop before heading home. It's decor is done in good taste. Open layout and definitely my favorite- lots of great natural sun pouring in from the windows. The food: I'm thankful it's very good. Lately I've been disappointed with my Thai food foray. I had my usual test for a new restaurant. Panang in pork. Tender meat. Proper ratio of meat to curry sauce and other ingredients. Tasty. Julie's also serves sushi rolls. We skipped that and ordered their Edamame as our starter. It came warm and lightly salted. Rightfully so. If you pay attention to what else is written on their menu it says they take time in preparing their food. That they add an extra something which is "Love". I get it. I felt it. I think that Julie's Thai Kitchen is more along the lines of a 3.5 star restaurant but I'm rating it 4. I got a takeout order of varying noodle dishes, yellow curry, and a cashew sweet chili chicken. The food flavors were all pretty solid. I wish my cashew chicken spice level was a little higher but the dish itself was above average from my experience. I liked the amount of vegetables in each dish. Egg rolls were tasty, noodles were also good. I have a slight complaint with the yellow curry, which didn't come with very much chicken and had a very watery/thin texture. I heavily dislike it when Thai restaurants have that consistency and it's disappointing to see. The value was about average. You don't get a huge amount of food like some other Asian restaurants but it's not small by any means. The prices seemed fair. All in all, Julie's Thai Kitchen seemed about average or slightly above average to me. There was nothing that was truly outstanding (flavors or value) but all of the food was flavorful. read more

Passing through Lyons on way to Estes Park. Found this small gem tucked away in a strip mall. This place is tiny, maybe 7 tables. Easy to miss, but the food should not be missed. It's possible these are the very best spring rolls I have ever eaten. Large, crunchy, full of fresh vegetables. The ingredients were not only fresh but had great flavor, maybe they were locally sourced. Often rolls are small, bland virtually tasteless sticks. Julie's don't even need sauce, although I did use some. Entree was Massaman curry. Absolutely divine. Great flavor, nice portion, generous amounts of chicken. Vegetables tender not mushy. We pulled into Julie's on a summer day, late at 2 pm, but luckily they were still cooking up lunch and had quite a crowd! I enjoyed the Chicken Thai Basil, spice level "hot" and it was perfect- Hot, sizzling, with tons of fresh veggies and yummy chicken- the perfect lunch size portion. Great Thai place and overall excellent dining experience. We came in for lunch and was greeted by the nicest server who was prompt and very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. We had a few of our regular dishes, which came out with more fresh veggies than we have ever received. Requesting "Thai Hot" also resulted in fresh thai chillies being added in the mix, instead of the usual extra scoop of red chili flakes. Its true to traditional preparation and fresh ingredients 2. Its family operated - an owner is always there making sure the product is 100% instead of a corporate 80% 3. Its small. Restaurants in Asia are small, cozy spaces where you come in, eat, and leave. Not giant mess halls. I recommend the curries. Thai hot is pretty true to Thai hot for a western palette. Really happy with our post-hike meal at Julie's. Hot and crispy egg rolls filled with rice noodles (?) and veggies that come with a delicious dipping sauce. We also ordered the Pad Thai, which is very close to my ideal recipe. Slightly firm but slippery noodles, prominent peanut presence (say that 3x fast) and a lime to squeeze for some acidity. The tofu didn't add much and I'd prefer the egg was dispersed throughout instead of the the (albeit pretty) pancake on top. Small, clean, fast and friendly service. Drove 45 mins to get there... heard great things......went in and saw 4 people sitting at 2 tables. Was told that it would be an hour to get seating and served. The portions are ample and pricing is reasonable. But the biggest caveat to a hearty recommendation of this place is that it's super, super slow. Always. Don't come super hungry! Have a snack before you go, seriously! And don't come here when you have somewhere else to be. The last time we ate there, we arrived just after 5:00 on a Sunday night, with only one other table of diners in the place. Julie, her husband and son..all from Thailand, make everything fresh everyday. The spring rolls are awesome, you taste each ingredient with every bite. Her homemade sauces are so good...so having said this fresh food takes time to prepare so don't go if you are in a hurry. Let Julie do her kitchen magic.
