What has happened to Thai Kitchen? This has been my go-to restaurant in Longmont for the past 8 years. We would generally be warmly greeted, have pretty good service, and excellent food. A month ago, I ordered online and picked it up. There was a new guy at the register who was really dismissive. After paying, he asked if I wanted a receipt, then threw it at me as he ran off. He didn't even look at me. Yesterday, we went there to celebrate my birthday. The same guy was running the front of the house. He appeared scattered and hurried. While delivering a drink to one table, he dropped it, breaking the glass tabletop and glassware, prompting the patron to move to another table. His remarks were not those that someone in hospitality should say. He delivered the rest of the glasses to another table, then came over to get our order. His demeanor was not a good fit for the place's ambiance. My husband asked for dark meat chicken in his order. About 15 minutes later, he came back and said they had no dark meat. So my husband asked for pork. Another 20 minutes later, he delivered all our meals except my husband's. He said it was coming, but it was delayed due to the protein change. We waited for my husband's meal so we could eat together. Then, 5 minutes later, he came out and said they had no pork either. My husband then said to forget his meal, as there was nothing else he would have ordered. Waiting until after the rest of us were served to let us know they couldn't make his (again) is unreasonable. Had they told us up front, we'd have gone elsewhere. We asked for containers to take our food to go. When I went to pay the bill, he took off the meal not served. I said it was very disappointing, as it was a celebratory dinner for us. He took off the cost of two Cokes as a "sorry." His remarks throughout were not what hospitality people should be saying in front of patrons. It is so disappointing. read more

JUST A BAD EXPERIENCE. I wish I had seen the previous review online (at another site) that explained an almost exact similar situation: 1) When ordering online through their website, the 3rd party system they engage requires you to put EVERY detail from spice level etc. in and they will follow it to the letter. If you don't order online often (like myself) you might be inclined to put the necessary info for protein since that is an obvious preference and then assume they will cook the basic dish to a likely anticipated recipe. NOPE. You will get mushy, plain, unspiced rice with canned pineapple and oversteamed vegetables if you get the pineapple fried rice without more details (btw, there is no way the fried rice was even fried since it was like hours old, reheated cafeteria rice). You will get noodles that have a cross-contaminated flavor of some sort of meat that must have been recently in the oil with a few mushy fried tofu pieces and no sauce or spice. The only flavor there is whatever wasn't supposed to be in the oil. 2) When you talk to their restaurant after this mistake (which is partly your fault but the expectation for the basic mild version of a dish with sauce and spices - not talking heat here -- is not unusual, expecially when ordering Thai) they will look at your order, tell you it is totally your fault for not putting a spice level (the default seems like it should be mild with all the expected flavor of the dish they describe) and hang up on you when you try to ask why that was done like that. BTW, that is after no request for refund was made as of yet and you were trying to figure out why they would give you such subpar food. The fact this restaurant thinks hanging up on someone who is not speaking in an elevated voice and trying to get the situation sorted is okay is volumes to their business. Came here for dinner before heading out to a Bingo evening. Picked this place through Yelp since I was unfamiliar with the area. The place is small and decent looking. Our timing was good and we were they only customers at the time. We ordered the fried tofu to start. The tofu was ok. They could have made it more crispier. For our entrees we ordered and shared a Thai fried rice, chicken pad see eww, and a tofu pad Thai. All the entrees were absolutely delicious, flavorful, not overly oily, and the portion of meat was appropriate. I really enjoyed the entrees here for sure. The only thing I recommend is to improve on customer attentiveness. I had to go ask the waiter for beverage refills and condiments that he forgot to bring. I got the Pad Thai "Thai Hot" and the spice level didn't disappoint. Flavor was great. I look forward to going back and trying other items but the Pad Thai will be hard to pass up. read more

Wife had curry and I had cashew chicken and Omgosh they were BOTH amazing! Mango sticky rice for desert and Thai tea! Service was outstanding. Parking was easy. Place was clean as a whistle. What a surprise! I had not eaten at Thai Kitchen for about a year and I had previously given them 5 stars, but the food was disgusting this past visit. I thought that perhaps the restaurant had a new owner, but no! What happened! No spiciness, no heat, no flavor and way too salty! We had to ask for Thai pepper flakes to add to the dishes, and even soy sauce which was watered down by the restaurant. Just gross! Uggh! I actually took the leftovers home, but threw them out uneaten because the next day they were just as bland and mushy. I really should have left it too! The basil fried rice had only 1 leaf of basil and was very bland and mushy. I asked whether the chef forgot the basil and the waiter said that they don't put much in. So why is it called BASIL fried rice? The chef came out and we asked him about it. He took the dish back to the kitchen, added a few leaves of basil ... maybe 4-5 leaves, warmed it up and we still couldn't eat it. The Thai kitchen special real name forgotten - last item on the menu with seafood and vegetables and a dark slurry that was very salty and almost inedible! We picked the seafood out and left the rest. The Tom Yum Soup was lacking spiciness and lemongrass flavor... the Tom Kha soup was acceptable, nothing special. In the past, I had the Eggplant Kraw Praw and that would have only 2-3 pieces of eggplant in it. When asked, the waitress said that they don't put much eggplant in that either, so why call it eggplant when it's predominantly other vegetables. You might find that several menu items contain a taste-able amount of their title ingredients. Does truth in advertising cover restaurants? I don't think I'll ever return. There are better Thai restaurants in town. What a waste of money. Thinking back, we probably should have sent our orders back and gone elsewhere. After that major disappointment, we went to Dairy Queen for dessert and commented that we should have had our full meal there, as a fast food hamburger looked far superior to what we had at Thai Kitchen, and cheaper! We finally had a good night out! Oh, yeah... I forgot that the Spring Rolls were marked out on the menu in thick black pen. I'm not sure when this was changed, as the waiter just said they no longer served them. They usually "fan out" of them earlier in the day anyway. Lemon chicken was very good too, maybe try something spicier next time but that's on me :-) Prices: Cheap! Even for restaurants of this class in Greeley. We decided to try it again for take out. There has been an apparent change in the management. The meals have been delicious and the ordering system works well. Have yet to try the dine in again as we are still a bit wary after our last experience four years ago. The chicken and tofu pad thai as well as the tofu pad woonsen are excellent. We haven't tried all the Thai places in Longmont yet but we've tried three and Thai Kitchen so far comes out on top. We find that we get bigger curry portions for the same money (sometimes double!) and the taste is superior. Those two factors have anchored Thai Kitchen as our go-to Thai option. We love the pineapple fried rice with tofu, the Pad Thai (of course) and the green, red, and masaman curries. Also, the service is solid. Really like the place and the vibe. Highly recommend. I like Melee and Jai Thai but for the reasons above, I think Thai Kitchen wins. Still need to try Urban Thai. read more

I'm always nervous ordering from a new Thai place. I got medium spicy pad Thai with tofu. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the very polite server who handed over my noodles. Let me tell ya, I did not expect them to be THAT good. They were delightfully spicy, it was fresh, hot, and FILLED with veggies. Older lady VERY RUDE!!!! Food is usually very good. Placed an order over the phone for Pad Thai with no onions and no spice. When I got back home with my order, it was not correct. I called to say I received the wrong order. Lady answered and hung up on me. Tried calling back with the same rude, unprofessional treatment. She would not help and just hung up. My order was wasted since it was for an 8 year old and it was way too spicy to eat and full of onions. Inside this unassuming little Thai place lies some of the best Thai food I've ever tried. The basil beef is one of the best renditions I've ever had. The basil was really flavorful and the beef was good quality. I've never had a Thai dish quite like the Satue Kai (S2) under Chef's Specials. The sauce was unique in a good way, and the number of different vegetables represented (potato, broc, onion, carrot, celery, tomato) was truly staggering. We called our waitress the TMI waitress, because she'd announce things to customers beyond what was usually appropriate. I heard her say to one table that she'd tell them the good dishes and the bad. Once when she was away for several minutes, she apologized to our table, and told us the guy at the front was hitting on her, and since she's been hoping to go out with him, she stayed near him. Ordered food for pickup. I waited the recommended time. When I arrived, the man at the counter went back for my food but appeared to take a few more minutes. When he brought out the 2 items (green curry and tom kha gai), everything was bagged up and sealed so I couldn't tell if we got what I ordered. Turns out we got the green curry but not the tom kha gai. At first I thought I didn't understand the way they made their dishes. However, we ordered curry as veggie only so it was easy to tell we didn't get our Tom Kha Gai because neither dish had any chicken in it. And Tom Kha Gai is coconut milk based. Even the abbreviations on the lids didn't match anything I ordered. Considering how hard it is to straighten this out, I let it go as a 'lesson learned'. When we walked in they gave us one menu which many places are doing (because of Covid) but if we ask for a second they usually give us another one. However, I seldom do as I know it costs extra to print more paper ones. However, I didn't mind here as they were the normal menus and we were the only ones in the entire restaurant, but they refused as it would have taken extra time to clean two ( tacky). I ordered the yellow curry and my husband had the sweet (and sour something). Our carrots and onions in both dishes were raw. I had one tiny piece of potato in my curry. We were also given one small bowl of rice to share, so when I couldn't finish my meal I asked for a to go box and some extra rice. They charged me for the additional rice. This place never opens on time, the sign says that they open at 11am on weekdays so at 11am the open sign should be on, doors should be unlocked ready for customers to walk in and order food but thats not the case in this restaurant the owner just seem to care, he only opens when he feels like it. read more

This is now the BEST Thai food in Longmont and possibly in Colorado since Urban Thai has gone down hill. I know they have a sister restaurant in Boulder; but, this place is so much closer and the food here is as good, if not better, then the Boulder location. It's a little tricky to find as they are tucked away in a strip mall - right next to a Kung Fu studio (good place to go to work off those calories after ordering all your favorite Thai dishes). I love the Tom Kha and Pad Thai here and the service (although slow at times) has always been pleasant. By the way, I haven't had a bad meal or experience here yet and I am hoping they don't change for the worse like Urban Thai has done (awful food and experience). read more

VEGETARIANS BEWARE. Ordered a vegetarian tom kha soup. Waited 30 minutes to get it. It finally arrived but was made with chicken. We pointed this out to the server. Unsolicited, she told us not to blame her because it wasn't her fault and that she would bring out the veggie soup in short order. It took only 10 minutes to get the 'new' soup and we started in on it. It was decent. But, within a few bites, I found a piece of chicken and quickly realized what their remedy was. The server was unapologetic. We were the only customers in the restaurant. I now understand why. This place has only decent food, poor service, and UNACCEPTABLE treatment of customers seeking vegetarian food. Wish we had seen the red flag pop up when we were first seated and after having studied the menu for 15 minutes, had to go find the server to place an order. I can totally empathize with restaurant employees being on the wrong end of people who are angry for no good reason. Still--I went in on Monday. There was only one person dining in. Nobody else there. The guy at the counter took my payment and I added a tip (because that's what good humans do). He said 15-20 minutes. Totally reasonable. Hint: Don't tip until you get your food. Because it didn't take 20 minutes, or even 30. I waited there with my two young daughters over an hour. I watched someone walk in, get seated, have their food, and leave while I waited. Not to mention literally every other person who came in for takeout after me also left before me. Still, I'll wait for good food. When I finally got home, they hadn't actually given me what I ordered. I waited over an hour to get food I couldn't eat--awesome! Also, I let them know one of their fish was dead and then watched the fish float around the tank the whole time. Yuck. read more
