We were camping at Golden Gate Canyon and decided to find a restaurant for dinner instead of eating leftovers warmed over a fire. This place did NOT disappoint. We love good Thai food. This place has good Thai food. We started with sesame chicken and fresh spring rolls. Both excellent, especially the sauce on the chicken. Then we had a large bowl of Tom Kha. Amazingly creamy coconut broth, with lots of chicken, fresh mushrooms, snap peas. Very rich and delicious. The only complaint I have is the peanut sauce for the spring rolls, it was not very peanuty tasting, and it was a very pale color. The shrimp was rubbery, and it felt like there was very little care or attention put into the dishes. It seems like they stay in business because it is a small town with limited options. Let the server know no fish sauce or peanuts, which she understood and wrote these down. We've been to Ubon Thai a few times and find it a pretty-good place for Thai Food when up in the mountains. We ran in from our campground during a rainstorm for dinner recently and got Tom Kha soup, Hot Basil Leaves with Chicken, and Pad See Ew with Chicken. Service is fast and friendly and the setting is old-school Thai decor with pretty goodbooths and tables. They will charge you $45 for parking there, as a customer, if you do not actively seek out how to record your license plate with them. If you are charged by accident, management will direct you to make a dispute claim, but the Florida third-party parking company will not honor that claim and there is no way to contact them. I love the food. My fiancée and I always come here after hiking some of the trails located in Eldora. Also, Whenever we have friends visiting us, we take them on a hike and come here afterwards. It never disappoints, and we always enjoy it here, especially after hiking for hours. We usually get the Red Thai with Tofu, the Lemongrass soup, and fried rice. I highly recommend this place. This place is so sweet in every way. As soon as we walked in the door, we were welcomed by the people who worked there and the space in such a warm way. The menu has all of the items you might crave from a Thai restaurant (and you'll want to try them all!!). The menu items are very well priced and the portions are generous. Thai iced teas can be hit or miss depending on where you go -- make SURE you get it here. Not too sweet but oh so flavorful. Tom Kah is also a must after a day of playing in the snow, and you really can't go wrong with any of the apps or dishes (I haven't tried them all yet, but I'd be surprised if you didn't enjoy your food here). Surprised to find Thai food that is good for probably here and majority of the Midwest outside Chicago. The curry was excellent (for US). Pad Thai had a little too much fish sauce. Satay meat was tough and overcooked. Everything run sweet but I noticed that in this area and Denver, everything runs a tad sweet for Asian food. Service was excellent. read more
