Tasteless beef noodle soup. Don't get it.
    Ashley B.

Not all Nana's are created equal. As someone who grew up in taiwan, my standards for dumpings and beef noodle soup are quite high. So when I visited uptown location I was pleasantly surprised with the dumplings but extremely excited about the soup because it was almost exactly as I remembered it. So when I found out there was a boulder location I was so happy. I waited all week for this. I hardly get an opportunity to eat out and I wanted the soup. Only to be extremely disappointed when I got there. The boulder location is on the hill. Immediately, when I walked in, I could tell that this was a very different vibe than the Denver location. With that location had a cocktail bar lounge vibe, this one was fast casual. It also smelled like toilet. Trying to out the potty smells aside, you order up at the front and they will bring it to your table. Thankfully, they mostly have the same menu so I thought great, it'll be the same food. It was not in fact, the same food, the soup had zero flavor and tasted like dirty water with a hint of Asian spices. To say I was disappointed, was an understatement. The noodles were mushy. The meat was not tender when I tried to add soy sauce into it to give him more flavor, I quickly realize that the container was not soy sauce and that soy sauce was nowhere on the table. It was dumpling sauce. I ended up having to ask for soy sauce and they only had one very small container for the entire restaurant at the front. What Asian restaurant doesn't have soy sauce on the table?! When they brought my dumplings out, I was even more disappointed with the fact that they gave me the wrong dumplings. While, I could have sent them back, I'm not one to waste food and I like steamed dumplings. I just prefer fried. Thankfully, the dumplings were cooked decently and they had good flavor. They were the only saving grace to this experience. In total the cost was 31$ before tip. It's been a while since I gave a negative review but I feel for the price, the experience and the food, it was justified. I would definitely NOT recommend this location. But i will give the other locations a chance

The food and service were fantastic. Everything was made fresh to order and tasted delicious. The soup dumplings were definitely the highlight for us. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone. My family was so glad to have found this local gem. It can get quite busy since the University of Colorado is right next door, but the relaxing, calm ambiance inside contrasts nicely with the lively energy outside from students walking by. A beautiful spot overall!

Stopped in Nana's for lunch and had pleasant experience. There isn't table service at this location and have to order at the front even when dining in. There was plenty of enticing options to choose from so the cashier patiently waited for us to decide on what to order for our light lunch. While we waited briefly, enjoyed the paint schemes and artwork inside the restaurant. Food came out quick, hot and delicious...the only bug-a-boo would have been that the soup dumplings had more filling but who doesn't want more of something good. Otherwise we enjoyed them none the less. Definitely worth checking out.

Food was very good. Love how they have everything so fresh! We have the soup dumplings and I would go back for more!!

The dim sum is alright here, though there isn't much competition for asian food in the area. Tried the cucumber salad, chicken lo mein (actually pretty tasty), bbq pork buns, soup dumplings, and pan fried pork and mushroom dumplings (this was also good). Not the highest quality dim sum (can tell most is from frozen), but does the job. Overall it's still tasty!

The dumplings are great! The spicy chicken soup dumplings were amazing. And the pork dumplings were flavorful. It's nice how fresh the dumplings were. Unfortunately the spicy beef dish of the week wasn't really good. The beef was really dry and fatty. Almost like beef jerky. The spice level was good though.

Run, don't walk, to this gem! Boulder's Hill has a fantastic new addition, and in my opinion, it's raising the bar for quality dining in the area. Nana's serves up authentic Chinese dishes, from dim sum and wontons to buns, fried rice, and more. Every single dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and high-quality. I'd even say the fried rice was the best I've ever had! We couldn't pick a favorite - everything was outstanding. The interior is a bit on the cozy side; it's dimly lit with limited seating, and the airflow could be better, so smells tend to linger. However, it's comfortable enough, and they seem to do a solid takeout business, which would be a perfect option too. I'm thrilled Boulder (and CU students!) now have access to such delicious, authentic Chinese food. I'll definitely be back!

Signature Bao steamed pork buns. Delicious.

Pretty much everything we ordered was good! It's not a dim sum place with carts. After you enter, you order at the counter, and they bring you out the food as soon as it's cooked. You're essentially getting one plate at a time to share instead of all the plates at once. It's all fresh. You can see the worker in the window making dumplings by hand. We enjoyed the fried buns, the Chinese broccoli, and the shu mai pork dumplings. Eat them with their house made chili oil and soy sauce. We ordered boba, but I would probably skip the boba here. Their pearls aren't a soft texture. Great spot to stop for lunch. The restaurant itself was okay. A bit dark and small. Service was excellent.

Sooooo good! I've ordered from here a few times now and have enjoyed everything I've tried. The food is fresh and hits the spot every time. Some of my favorites: Xiao Long Soup Bun - some of the best I've had. The broth inside is so flavorful and the dough is like a little pillow of goodness. Could literally eat these every day. Pan Fried Thumblings - a best seller for a reason. Fried to perfection and not heavy, but rather light, crunchy, & juicy. Little bite-sized balls bursting with flavor. Best bang for your buck. Stir Fried Green Beans - YUMMM, but a little pricey so I don't order all the time. They are so good you don't even realize you're eating veggies. Red Sea Chili Wontons - the red chili sauce is the perfect coating for these super delicate wontons stuffed to capacity with well-seasoned pork & shrimp. Also a good bang for your buck. Seaweed salad - a nice, crunchy app to offer a brightness to the meal. For $7 you get a good sized portion and the texture is perfect. The sauces on the side are also really tasty. We love Nana's :)

Jumbo Crab Rangoons, Edamame, garlic green beans, chicken fried rice, specialty bao buns, pork and chive pan fried dumplings.

I wasn't expecting to order at the counter, but the server was very helpful in explaining the menu. As the picture shows, the food was very good- our plates were cleaned!

It's different from other dim sum places I've been to. Visiting here from Las Vegas and we came across this cute little gem. Not your typical dim sum with carts, you order and then they bring you the food. We ordered some garlic green beans, Xiao Long soup dumplings and pot and mushrooms pan fried potstickers. A little on the pricey side but the food had a ton of flavors

The man who greeted us was very nice and accommodating. More people arrived as we sat, including a woman who, it turned out, was also going to the Festival. I was choosing between Shrimp with Vegetables on the Chinese menu and a Vietnamese Noodle Bowl with Chicken and Eggroll. I went with the Vietnamese Bowl. My friend got the same only with shrimp. Both were delicious! There is a mild spice on the grilled chicken and it seemed like it might be the same one on the shrimp. I tasted hers. Delectable. And both were tender. The eggroll was nice and crunchy. The noodles were good. I would have liked more vegetables, and we both asked for more sauce. Not sure why they don't give more to start with. At other restaurants, I've always been served with enough sauce from the beginning. But he brought more of it promptly when we asked. I could only eat about half of mine. Because it was room temperature to begin with, hopefully the leftovers are OK having sat in my car for hours! The decor was nice. Tile on both the floor and walls. My friend really liked the walls and told the gentleman that he'd made a good choice! It all looks clean and cared for. I will go back. Hope you go, too! There are several restaurants in the shopping center there at Baseline and Broadway. May Wah is in the southern section, facing north.

The difficulties with are in my previous reviews. Now much of the facility has been torn down and the ongoing construction of the space to be city staff offices and the bigger space to be affordable housing had become impractical to use or eat at the restaurant. The noise was deafening. In January they moved to a food court on the Hill. This is a lower level of a building with other tenants. There are about 6 food kitchens and each time I have been here this summer and fall, this is the busiest at lunch. Since the seating is communal there is always space and it is clean. The staff here have been really nice. If I'm preparing a meal at home or supplementing leftovers, I have stopped by to get a fave vegetable, baby bok choy, steamed and seasoned and at an affordable side dish price. Today my husband and I walked down for lunch and ordered the Tuesday special street crepes some of the owners have continued from the long gone first owners from Beijing. As with other succeeding owners, they too have continued to use lettuce rather than the bok choy in the crepe. It also has some ham, scallions and crispy wonton bits and a nice spread of hoisin. It is topped with a sprinkle of black sesame seeds that I love. Another difference from the original is that the ingredients of the crepe itself are not well mixed together so many large patches of separate egg white and yolk makes it harder to hold together and not as pretty. But it tastes just fine but original years ago was addicting. I will continue to come here try more of the food from the current owner. I love beef noodles and have 2 other places I can get a good version but this is the most walkable for me. They do very nice prep for takeout which is good too. At lunch it is busy with CU affiliated students, staff and faculty alike. Every item I have had at Flower Pepper is hand made and prepared for the customer.
