As it turns out, I don't have to go all the way to Federal for good Pho!! Boulder Pho was a perfect spot for a cold boulder evening. I came here with a friend around 7pm on a Thursday, and there was no wait to be seated. The staff was super friendly and has us set with our appetizer in moments. The spring rolls with grilled beef, absolutely hit the spot. Definitely needed the sauce but that's why it comes with it I suppose? Not long after, our pho arrived. Rare steak and brisket, in a medium. The medium (plus half the app) was perfect for my hungry self. The meats were great, but next time I'll just go for pure rare steaK. That, plus the broth, were impeccable. I did add a bit of sauce and sriracha, and it was dialed in nicely. Temperature was good to dive in after a minute or so. It wasn't quite the best pho I've had, but it's dang close. And for boulder convenience it can't be beaten. The atmosphere is typical for what you'd expect, and it was warm and welcoming. Too cold to try dining outside so we ordered take out and it was good decision . The soup was still boiling hot when we got home . The portions were sufficient. My lemon grass beef a little disappointing due not strong flavor . The Vietnamese egg rolls were good but the fish sauce for dipping was different from what I am used to . Coming from Southern California where great pho is only 10 minutes away, I was very impressed that the quality of pho here tastes as good as restaurants back home :) I came here on a snowy day and the food here was exactly the comfort I needed! Visited on a Sunday night. Place was pretty busy for 8:00 pm on a Sunday. Ordered the Pho Ga - large size. The aromatics (Basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeños) served with the Pho were fresh and in fine fettle. I tasted the broth before adding - on the light side - I would prefer a richer chicken broth - but it still was good. Adding the aromatics, plus some Sriracha sauce to the broth - very much elevated the broth. There was plenty of chicken in the bowl, and it was reasonably tender (I had a couple of chewy pieces). Stopped in for a Fathers Day lunch while in Boulder. The pho here was terrific. I'm not a pho expert, but I've been looking forward to trying this style of dish again. At our table we had three varieties: well done beef brisket, bbq pork and the seafood pho. Our other daughter ordered a bahn-mi with chicken. We also ordered spring rolls and three varieties of boba (taro, passion fruit & strawberry). As I mentioned, the food was all excellent. My daughter thought her beef pho was slightly saltier than another she had recently, but it didn't seem to deter her enjoyment of the meal. My pork pho tasted great. She and I both ordered small bowls and it was plenty. The plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalepeno added perfectly to our dishes and we could each add the amounts that suited us. We're a bit chopstick-challenged, but that's ok. It prevented us from inhaling our food too quickly. ;-) My one complaint - the boba drinks took forever to come out. One daughter's arrived mid-meal, the other two arrived when our food was al ost gone. Not sure why it took so long. The restaurant was busy, but that seemed excessive. Still, they come in to-go cups, so they just brought them with us. I tasted each one and especially loved the taro. Yum! I would definitely return if in the area! read more

My husband and I are visiting Boulder from California for work. There was a snow storm yesterday so my husband was craving pho. We have access to great vietnamese food in Southern California, including pho, so I was a bit hesitant to try pho in Boulder where there isn't a Vietnamese community. But I went with it anyways because it did sound good. We came here for lunch and there were maybe 4 other tables already seated, so not crowded at all. Half left as we were sitting down. We see a couple more people come in and the server takes their order before he even comes to our table. We waited 10 mins before he comes over to us. Then we had to wait for another 20 mins before our food even came out! All the while, they're busting out to-go orders and there's 5+ bags of orders just waiting to be picked up. If they can't even tend to customers while they're slow, I'd hate to see how they handle the restaurant when it's busy. For an actual pho restaurant, you'd think they'd be able to bust out bowls of pho very quickly. I ordered the pho with kobe beef, which was an extra $2. It honestly wasn't worth it. Some pieces tasted like normal rare steak, while others were so gamey that I couldn't even chew it and had to spit it out. It wasn't what you normally think of when you hear kobe beef. It either wasn't kobe beef or it was a very poor cut of kobe beef. On top of that, the broth was somewhat bland. Overall, the pho was mediocre at best. It definitely isn't authentic pho. It's not the best pho in the world, but coming from a literal pho desert it is liquid gold. People, I am deprived. The beef pho is savory, rich in spices, and perhaps a little on the sweet side, but overall 8/10 for me. If you don't have good pho here in boulder, this place is a great quick fix stop. The bun bo hue was on the lighter side for a soup, tasting mostly like lemongrass, but was also just enough for me to satisfy that craving. BEST PHO IN COLORADO! I tried a few different places before i found Boulder Pho and J would never think about going anywhere else for pho. I used to live in Boulder but not anymore, still I drive 30 minutes to Boulder just to eat here! FOOD - Pho has three sizes and for most, I'd say the small or medium ($8ish) is perfect. Really tasty pho. Also, I've tried the bun thit nuong cha gio (noodles w/ pork & egg roll @ $9.50) and it is good and a generous size! Lots of other options too aside from pho. DRINKS - I wouldn't go for boba personally bc it's pricey ($4.50) and I don't think whipped cream should ever be added (optional & free), but it tastes okay if you are craving it. SERVICE - Attentive and friendly. I brought my extended family here for lunch once (about 14 people), and our server was really nice and friendly so kudos to him!! SPACE - Really big. Let's be honest, I went on a cold Friday night and them being busy was expected. However, the wait was a bit too long considering the low amount of food we ordered and who ordered before us. While we were waiting, a lot of people had to ask for silverware... that were already seated and had their food. I was a bit confused, but again, they were busy. Once we got home, our food was only okay. I ordered the usual that I get from Pho 4 U here in Denver, and I was SHOOK! I got the beef and rice plate, my rice was super undercooked and my steak was literally as thin as my nail. I wanted to take a picture of it but I was so hangry I walked away and let my sig. other eat it. Overall, when you get cravings and then finally get it, you usually think it's better than it really is because you're starving. Sadly, this was not enjoyable and I wouldn't recommend for anyone living in BOCO or visiting BOCO. read more

Coming from NYC, I can tell you there isn't any exciting or really authentic pho there. So having said that, I am so excited to experience Boulder Pho. After a strenuous day of picking up bikes and riding around town trying to get acclimated, we settled in here to have a well deserved meal. And we surely were not disappointed at all. Being that this place is named Boulder Pho, we opted to try the pho. I had the seafood pho cooked in vegetable broth. Sweet! I finally found a pho place that has veggie broth. My dining mate ordered the steak pho. This is probably one of the best pho experiences of my life. The mint, sprouts and limes were so fresh. And the pho was just absolutely delicious to the last drop. Ambiance of the place leaves something to be desired and they currently don't serve any alcohol. I believe they are waiting for their liquor license... This is definitely going to be a regular dining place on the Boulder eating circuit for me. And it should be in yours too! read more

Dad and I had a craving for Vietnamese after a long hike in the mountains. I love a good vermicelli bowl (or "grilled noodle bowl" per the menu) so given Boulder Pho's ratings decided to try. Suffice to say, I wouldn't recommend. Service: Sat immediately, but had to flag down for the order. Given how not busy it was, the food took awhile. Received apps and dinner all at once, had to go up to the counter to ask where our drinks were (a beer and tea). We received the drinks well after the food arrived, and were charged for everything. Fine, but it's weird to get a pot of tea after sitting for a half hour with water and after the food arrives. Never got checked on after the food was delivered. Went to the counter to pay, waited to pay while he cleaned tables, sat a couple. Another party arrived, he still didn't ring me up, he chose to greet the new people, wash tables, seat them. This happened three times with new people arriving and me trying to pay. A note to the waiter: the person about to pay is about to tip. I shouldn't wait at your counter for 15 minutes to do so. Food: If you like spaghetti noodles chopped into one inch pieces as "vermicelli noodles" then sure. Never have I had my noodles chopped into pieces. It was exceedingly difficult to eat with chopsticks. The noodles were also about spaghetti thickness, which was strange. Not a deal-breaker overall, but I think of this dish as a delicate noodle dish. The pork in the bowl was actually thin sliced pork, fried/charred to oblivion, and not cut properly. You'd pick up one bit of pork and get the entire thing connected by tendon. Not appetizing, and again, not made for chopsticks. The egg roll on top was the saving grace. Not remarkable, but had flavor. Overall the 'noodle bowl' was bland / burnt when you could get a bite. We also got the spring rolls. They were again filled with this spaghetti noodle. The sauce was the best part. Maybe their pho is the signature, but the service could use a LOT of work, and the noodle bowls should be removed from the menu. read more

Best Pho I've found so far in Boulder after a few attempts. I've had takeout a few times here and every time all the sauces and utensils are included. The amount of food is perfect and sometimes I can save some for later. I usually order a medium sized Pho. I've tried the rare steak and vegetable/tofu Pho. Both are great and would recommend. The vegetable/tofu bowl comes with a great variety of vegetables. I have not eaten here but the place looks very nice. And usually busy but not over crowded. Boulder Pho has, by far, the best pho in Boulder. My friends and I come all the time and love it for how flavorful the broth is. There are many options for meats to add, including a vegetarian one, and the rest of their menu is excellent as well. Their service is great, but I mostly get takeout. They separate everything that comes with the pho and are generous with the side vegetables and sauces. The broth comes very hot and stays hot. Like everything in Boulder, it is a little expensive for us college students, but it's worth it every time and I can't wait for my next chance to go. read more

I've been here a couple of times and had a variety of items. They were just fine, not outstanding like some places I've been, but very decent for Vietnamese food in Boulder. The banh mi was very fresh and tasty and and the Vietnamese egg rolls good too. I have had the rare steak and brisket pho and it too was fine. The small filled me, my husband aimed bigger but actually couldn't finish his medium. He had steak and meatball which I tasted and liked too. Very good value we felt. The staff was friendly, I have never been ignored. The owner was there the first time and we chatted about a recipe for a favorite drink I get in a really great Vietnamese restaurant in another city but he said it's way to much work to make it from scratch and hardly any place he knows would serve it. Too bad. I love it. This last time I was there though, we were seated at a table that had a clear sticky spill run over the table to chair to floor and it wasn't apparent until I sat and stepped in it.
