Got it back and they had installed a 'cleaning' program on it without asking or telling me. I had to ask THREE TIMES (in the course of my several calls and visits while my computer was being worked on) if they would install a new hard drive and system on the machine, and how much that would be, thinking I'd just archive this drive, and Sam just kept saying, "You don't really need it." Umm - I'll be the judge of that. YOU just tell me if you want my business. Maybe it's because I'm a gray-haired old lady and I don't deserve the respect and professionalism of a straight-forward answer (or any honest communication about my computer), but is that any better? They are being evasive and I am being given the runaround. Document recovery shouldn't take this long and if there is an issue I want to be notified with specific answers to my questions in a timely manner! This is not a simple matter of backlog or the complexity of what should be a relatively simple task. It's a matter of inept communication and the refusal of Plug and Play to provide the client with decent and professional customer service.

I cannot understand critical reviews. He has always been friendly, incredibly responsive (same day--"bring it in"), and efficient. He is also mindful of costs/time and does not do work that is not necessary. For example, when my computer did not turn on, I called Grant and he told me about a 30 second fix that worked without my having to bring the laptop in. It is a great source of comfort to know that Grant is available to deal with the inevitable laptop problems in a manner that is friendly, timely and cost-effective. I recommend him enthusiastically.

I brought my laptop in because it would no longer boot up correctly after running Norton Utilities and the automatic repair tools wouldn't work. I was told that the prognosis was pretty grimm and we could recover the data, but would have to restore the OS an reinstall all of the software, etc. They were very friendly and just trying to be honest, which I appreciate. They said they would try a few things, but weren't optimistic. Well, I'm glad I didn't listen. I did a 5 minute search on Google that led to an article that took me through (step-by-step) fixing the problem in 3 minutes. My computer was immediately back to being FULLY functional with no loss of data or programs. I guess this would be a 5 start review had someone said: those are hard errors to fix, but we can look online and research to see if there are fixes out there for this type of problem. I would have left them my computer. But would they have searched or just come to the conclusion that a wipe of the computer was the only fix? Note: I consider myself to be very computer literate and only went looking for "expert" help when I couldn't figure out a resolution. In hindsight, I now realize i could have done a google search earlier and saved myself a trip.

Additionally, they are not diligent enough in diagnosis. The result in my case was that I paid them $50 diagnostic fee without actually receiving a diagnostic and with them asking me to buy RAM so they could test out my computer with new RAM (because they didn't have sufficient parts on hand). I would go to this shop to buy a PC or for basic support. I would not go to this shop for support on truly complex PC problems. I brought in a home-built PC with stability issues. I didn't have the time or interchangable parts to diagnose the PC myself, but needed it diagnosed and fixed as I used it for statistical analysis work. I ran the guy who checked me in through the steps I had taken (chkdisk and related), but he did not take adequate notes at check in. As a result, they held on to my computer for two weeks running the same checks. As I found this out, I informed the other guy who ran diagnosis on the computer I had completed all these checks. At this point, he insisted I needed to buy RAM so the computer shop could evaluate the issue with new RAM. This is a very strange request. Any shop worth it's own salt should have the interchangable parts and testing bench necessary to diagnose things without requiring the customer buy parts for the shop to do so. As he had been telling me inaccuracies about my hardware such as (1) MB can't handle the RAM I have in it because it is wrong speed (MB can handle it, it just has to be set to OC in bios) and (2) that my RAM was only 16 gb (wrong, it is clearly 4 sticks of 8 gb per stick), I decided to take the computer to a big box tech store nearby (who also failed to diagnose correctly). Upon pickup, the guys at the shop told me they believed I had a failed graphics card and RAM issue. I ended up doing the diagnosis myself a month later when my time freed up and figured out that I had (1) a corrupt windows install, and (2) a corrupted bios that was causing very strange MB behavior. I replaced no parts, just did a clean bios flash and a clean install of Windows. I am writing this review on the exact same PC, same parts, completely stable. However, I am sore that I paid $50 bucks and lost my home desktop for several weeks for nothing, and that I then solved the issue in about 2 days of my own work.

I would give 0 stars if I could based on the rudeness and lack of professionalism of the front desk person Amy. Although I think that Michael the tech guy is friendly, his lack of communication has brought me to this point. Beginning in December 2020, my laptop camera which was under warranty by Lenovo stopped working. The exact error was that "was not found" leading me to believe it was a hardware problem. I saw the great reviews for Terminal Exchange Systems and decided to contact them to fix it. I dropped off my laptop to Michael and it was fixed the next week. Michael diagnosed it as a software issue. Then, a few days later, it stopped working AGAIN. This time, after he remotely accessed my computer, Michael decided that it WAS a hardware issue and said he would order the part for me and I could come in when it arrived since fixing it would only take about an hour so so. After that point, you can see our email communication in the photos that I've attached. Dec. 4th - Michael told me in writing that he was going to process the warranty claim and would follow up when the order arrived Dec. 16th - I email him asking for an update, no response. I don't push further since the holidays are coming up. January 4th - I email him asking for an update, no response. January 13th - I finally call Terminal and get a response from Amy. She says that they're no longer taking hardware issues and says that I can call Lenovo. I call her back and ask for help because my device is now no longer covered by Lenovo and said that it was terrible customer service that no one bothered to inform me that this change happened and asked for her to help me. She got huffy and said "well, why did you wait a month to call us?" and I explained that I had been emailing Michael with no response. I mentioned that it was the holidays and I don't like to be pushy because I know things are busy. I was absolutely polite when I was speaking to her. PEOPLE, SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a company. NEVER EVER give them your business. They REALLY don't care about you!!! They will waste your time for 1+ month and then treat you like YOU'RE the problem and hang up.

Beware: they lock the door of their den so, plan on pressing the door bell and waiting for five minutes on the front step while holding your forty lb. printer. Don't even think of whining about the expense. If you think paying the bill is awful then try fixing this junk. This is a very tedious profession saddled with parts supply chain snafu's and immature customers.
