I had my first bad experience with Grande/Astound today. My Internet went out around 2:00pm…read moreyesterday. I called and their automated system said there was a problem at my house they would have to send a technician out to check. System also said the first available slot was between 10:00 and noon, which I took. And the system called me at 5:00 to confirm I still wanted the 10-12 appointment. Before 10:00 I checked and Internet was still unavailable. So planted myself on the couch to wait. (I can't go in to the office, I have to meet the technician. I can't log in remotely, I have no Internet.) Noon rolls around and no one has showed or called, so I call Astound to check on their progress. And was very surprised for the automated system to tell me my appointment slot was between 8:00am and 9:00pm! So I ask for an agent and he is confused by the situation, too. He sees a small entry in the computer that he thinks means they found a larger outage? He asks me to check my cable model, and to my surprise it shows it's connected. So kudos to Astound for fixing the problem. But minus 500 points for not keeping the customer informed and letting me waste valuable work time (as I get paid hourly). (I'll accept responsibility for squandering another 15 minutes to write this review.) I'd always been happy with Grande's customer service--I've been with them for many years. I was a little worried when Astound took them over, but initially I was getting the same great customer service. I'm hoping today was just a glitch and not an omen of things to come...

I don't know how these people live with themselves. We're paying $500/month for 100 mbps service…read more No, that is NOT a typo: $500 for 100 mbps. When we try to cancel, they want nearly 10K in early terminal fees, and when they respond to your complaints with "get in touch; we'll have get you a better deal", they offer to up you to 500mbps for the same price, but only I'd you sign on for am additional three years of their insane costs. Just avoid them and their predatory pricing and go with Spectrum: you'll get faster service at greatly lower pricing and without the onerous contract.

OK so this review is specific to corporate company policy. First I have had SuddenLink for a year…read moreand basically the internet and TV have been fine without the issues discussed by others. Please note that I live in a 1100 sq foot house so signal strength is not a concern. So here is why this review. Over the weekend, the mini TiVO stopped working and I got a "blue" screen that said there was no software. Ok, read online that this particular model has a "chip" issue. Not a big deal pick a new one up on Saturday. First frustration: Suddenlink only has 1 office and they are not open on the weekend at all. Ok fine I will go on Monday: Second frustration: Monday at store (nice but useless rep) says that "we do not have any equipment at this store so a tech has to come to your house" and "if it is anything but the TiVO we charge $60 bucks". So first, I did not need a tech, I needed a new box!!! Ask if they could mail a box to me? Nope a tech is the only option!! 3rd frustration: I decided that I wanted a second TiVO box when the tech comes, get told "nope that is a separate appointment". Really!!!! So at the point, I ask about buying my own TiVo and got told that was fine but I had to pay a $250 nonrefundable price for the Suddenlink "chip". So I said, cancel the extra TiVo and have the tech come out and give me a new box. So my frustration and question is: Why do you even have an office in Georgetown? It seems all they are allowed to do by cooperate is to take money and schedule the tech. Well guess what, there is an app! for that.

after multipl d ays of our service going out for a few hours and then coming back only to go out…read moreagain and dealing with optimum's poor excuse for tech/customer support i pulled the trigger and switch to an alternative provide we have in our area. every time i had an issue with our service dealing with their support was painful. took over 30 minutes on the phone to cancel. there's a reason that optimum has such low customer ratings. If i could give them a zero a would

The actual internet service at my home has been okay so far, but everything else about dealing with…read moreOptimum has been a nightmare. Their customer service is extremely frustrating. It's nearly impossible to get someone on the phone who can actually solve a problem, and when you do, the experience is usually rude, unhelpful, or full of conflicting information. Trying to get an issue resolved feels like being sent in circles. I've been told different things by different representatives, and some of the information I was given turned out to be completely inaccurate. On top of that, communication can be very difficult because many of the customer service agents are hard to understand, which makes resolving anything take even longer. Overall, the lack of professionalism and poor customer support makes this service not worth the hassle. Even though the internet itself works fine, dealing with the company is exhausting. I would strongly recommend looking at other providers before choosing Optimum.
