Astound internet service was installed Feb 6, 2026. On Feb 26, 2026 they had to come out again due to an error message repeatedly saying "no internet". The the original installer apparently didn't complete the job and neglected a step. On March 30, 2026, I started receiving the same error message "no internet". This went on for 2 or 3 hours before internet service resumed without constant interruptions of no internet service. Yesterday April 8, 2026, at approximately 2:48pm I started receiving the same message "no internet". I rebooted, shut everything down and restarted. It worked for about 5 min before saying the same thing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I called Astound and was told that I was going to need someone to come out because something was wrong AGAIN![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've only had Astound for 2 months and a technician has been required twice within that time frame. I don't know how these people live with themselves. We're paying $500/month for 100 mbps service. No, that is NOT a typo: $500 for 100 mbps. When we try to cancel, they want nearly 10K in early terminal fees, and when they respond to your complaints with "get in touch; we'll have get you a better deal", they offer to up you to 500mbps for the same price, but only I'd you sign on for am additional three years of their insane costs. Since my bills were all paid to them they told me that I would be paying for service until March 14th. I requested a pro rata refund after February 16 and was DENIED! Though I took the service of a competing company, I was told that I must pay until March 14th and I have no choice in the decision. I cancelled because their internet was constantly shutting down. I am a person that rarely leave reviews but honestly I need to inform others about this company. I have internet interruptions "EVERY MONTH" no exaggeration. This last for at least 2 to 3 days -all day! I had my first bad experience with Grande/Astound today. My Internet went out around 2:00pm yesterday. I called and their automated system said there was a problem at my house they would have to send a technician out to check. System also said the first available slot was between 10:00 and noon, which I took. And the system called me at 5:00 to confirm I still wanted the 10-12 appointment. Before 10:00 I checked and Internet was still unavailable. So planted myself on the couch to wait. (I can't go in to the office, I have to meet the technician. I can't log in remotely, I have no Internet.) Noon rolls around and no one has showed or called, so I call Astound to check on their progress. And was very surprised for the automated system to tell me my appointment slot was between 8:00am and 9:00pm! So I ask for an agent and he is confused by the situation, too. He sees a small entry in the computer that he thinks means they found a larger outage? He asks me to check my cable model, and to my surprise it shows it's connected. So kudos to Astound for fixing the problem. But minus 500 points for not keeping the customer informed and letting me waste valuable work time (as I get paid hourly). (I'll accept responsibility for squandering another 15 minutes to write this review.) I'd always been happy with Grande's customer service--I've been with them for many years. Terrible, terrible service. I was with Grande for many years before it was acquired by Astound. I was always relatively happy with the service, price and customer support. Since the acquisition, my service became increasingly erratic, often going out for anywhere from an hour to a day. Each time, I called Astound and was told the problem was on my end and to fix it, I would need to pay $75 to have a technician come to my house. Each time, the issue resolved itself. The final time, service was out for several days. I made the switch to Google Fiber and on the day it was activated, called Astound and canceled my service. The next day, an Astound salesperson left me a voicemail acknowledging my cancellation and offering to give me a discounted rate to renew. I declined to respond as there was no way I was going back, but the next billing cycle, I was charged for service post-cancellation with the discounted rate applied. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Astound on a weekend and after a lot of back and forth, was told I needed to talk to a manager but one wasn't available. The rep promised a call back, which I never received.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Astound again on a weekday and the rep told me that for some reason my account had been canceled as requested, then reactivated with the discount applied.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was told I needed to stop automatic payment through my credit card or it would be charged and I'd have to request a refund. I did so -- received a confusing statement today that applied an overcharge credit from the month before but then applied a customer loyalty charge for the billing cycle post-cancellation, mostly negating the refund. I'm too fed up and exhausted to inquire into that piece. So far, Google Fibre has been reliable and the charge is upfront with the promise that it won't inexplicable be raised in the future (another issue with Astound - the charges just kept going up. After the recent Austin storm the internet has been out. After 3 weeks and 3 service calls Astound keeps sending a technician to "fix" our modem. They promised to send a construction crew to repair the line but once again they show up to "reset" the modem. Since they've been sold to an investment banking group the service has nosedived. UPDATE: After a call with the dispatcher, they promised to keep someone here all day until fixed. Tech said it was a 2 man job but to his credit he worked all day and just completed by himself. I have never left a review for something like astound in my entire life but I honestly need to get on here and write this simply just to vent about how much I truly despise this company. The service astound offered me was actually pretty decent, and I hardly ever dealt with issues like drop outs or outages. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will however note that their app is not only completely useless, but there are hardly any ways to contact customer service aside from a phone call if you actually want anything to be addressed, and they do not offer any way of seamlessly allowing you to change parts of your equipment out without having to CALL SOMEONE over the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I learned the hard way that they have absolutely NO WAY of allowing you to manually change your modem, and if you ever try to do it over the phone you will 100% lose all of your service and have to wait for a technician to arrive and set your internet back up for you. I moved from Kyle to Austin and the new apartment I'm in does not offer Astound, so I cancelled my service with Astound on Sept. 17th, 2025. I was told after cancelling my service that it would still run all the way until the end of the month on Sept. 30th, and I had 30 Days (Oct. 30th) to return the equipment that I had on hand. Obviously I'm busy moving, and I am currently commuting over an hour to/from work, so I'm planning to return the equipment before the date I was told it's due, but I'm definitely taking my time as it's not really a priority for me. On Oct. 23rd, I received a charge of $519 for unreturned equipment. I make $22 an hour and get paid weekly, so this is literally almost my entire paycheck. As soon as I saw this charge, I found the nearest Astound office and spent a nice hour commuting over there to return my equipment, and after returning it I was handed a receipt. The lady at the counter told me that I would be receiving a refund for my charge the following business day. (Oct. 24th) I did not receive my refund the following business day, I didn't even have it after an entire week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So, I decided to give them a call and ask when I would be actually be receiving my refund. They told me it would be 10 business days because the refund has to wait until their equipment is returned to inventory to process.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went ahead and waited those 10 business days, so here I am right now on Nov. 7th, after calling them asking where my refund is because I have still not received it. They now tell me that I have to wait until Nov. 23rd to receive my refund, because it was set to process on the days I would typically be charged for my service. How am I supposed to know if I will actually be given my refund on the 23rd? How is it that a multibillion dollar company can not figure out how to issue a refund for equipment that they probably already sent out to someone else and are profiting off of now? Easily the worst interest you can get. Latency spikes, often reaching 150ms are too common. We pay for the gigabit, but only receive a fraction of it. You call for service and they'll tell you it's your equipment, they'll replace it, and nothing will change. Pretty sure their techs are purely trained to gaslight their customers because they give you the same speech every time about how it's your equipment not their service. How the mighty have fallen. Before the Astound (terrible name for a company by the way) merger/acquisition, Grande was THE BEST Internet provider in the country, hands down. Grande's customer service was 24/7, the prices were good, free service calls, and the billing was never an issue. Ever since Astound and their terrible name took over, is been a downward spiral. First things first, whenever you called Grande, you got a Texas-Based person; Since the takeover, you get someone here, or you get someone up north, or you can get a cheap off shore call center, because they are beginning the process of not employing US folks in the quest to save money and give you worse customer service. Well I don't know about you, but when I call Grande, I want a local, and nothing but. The second thing is they keep screwing up my billing ever since the takeover. I won't get a bill, or it arrives after the due date, or more often than not, is the wrong amount, so then you have to call them.... But today was the final straw. Grande paid, and hired enough people that I had never, in 20 years of having Grande, waited more than 5 or 6 minutes for a Texas based customer service rep. Ever since "Astound" took over, I'm ASTOUNDED at how wait times have crept up little by little. I called today and the automated computer said I have a wait time of 32 minutes?!? I knew something wasn't right when i scheduled them to set everything up and the tech never showed. i finally got someone out here and they told me i could get a 10 discount on my bill if i had my payment through my bank and on autopay. I've moved a lot & have tried just about all the different wifi/internet services that Austin has to offer & Astound (Nicknamed A$$tound in Austin) is the worst one by far. Always cuts off & always outages. And I mean A LOT! The price was the only good thing but it's cheap because it sucks. You are literally paying for what you get. I work from home & I need reliability! For fun I gave them a shot, knowing I was rolling the dice. But I def would never come back.
