I started coming back to Bonfire for lunch during the week a few months ago to find a great new menu with a great day manager and staff. I order the Niçoise salad every time and it was beyond good. I have probably brought at least 10 people in since my return. However today, a person that I turned onto this cozy place, was a big mistake. When I asked for my normal table, this woman hollered across the restaurant that because I was a reservation for 2 I couldn't sit at the table that I wanted. Not a big deal...even though there were only two people in the restaurant. Next, after we both ordered salads that we have had multiple times, they came out different and not up to the usual standards. My friend said she would just take a bowl of soup. From then on, the same woman who told me she was the owner decided to demand we were wrong and that the food was exactly as it always is and called us rude. We never demanded anything except to finally be left alone. Our waiter was great. My salad was fine but not the same quality of tune it usually is. We had just said we were disappointed. She continued to harass us even after many times of me telling her she needed to just walk away. I have never experienced or felt so attacked for simply saying I was disappointed. I figured they couldn't fix a problem if they weren't aware of it. My point, I am still very disappointed that someone feels like need to berate customers. I won't be back. Bad business in my mind and very unfortunate because the staff and food are usually of excellent quality. read more

This is March 14, 2025. I'm going to try to leave as honest review as possible. My wife and I came here over a year ago. The first time it was one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had. The first thing we had was the Caprese salad bought to our table, a beautiful bowl, full of cherry tomatoes, capers, and round soft pieces of mozzarella covered in a wonderful balsamic vinaigrette. I told the servers that it was like sex in a bowl everything that night from the drinks to the steaks was phenomenal. Fast-forward to tonight. We asked for the Caprese salad and received a bowl full of big fat slices of mushy half green tomatoes with big slabs of mozzarella on top of them and just a little bit of vinaigrette. I sent the salad back and asked why there weren't cherry tomatoes. The response I got from the chef was that cherry tomatoes were gone six months ago why not just go to H-E-B and buy from the huge assortment of cherry tomatoes? Excuses. The first gin and tonic we had had no fizz in them - old bottles of tonic water. The bartender didn't offer to remake them. Just brought the currently open bottle until I said, "A fresh bottle, please." I ordered the brisket raviolis I was thinking this would be a brisket mixture put into ravioli. No, it was raviolis in a cheese sauce with peppers that shouldn't have been there and five dry tough pieces of brisket sitting on top in cubes - so disappointing. The only thing that worked well Was the Branzino - it was excellent - except for the couscous - a bad pairing. We ended up ordering two plates because everything else was subpar. Through it all, we got to stare at a sneeze shield separating us from the pizza toppings that had a huge pizza sauce shmear with fingerprint indentions. I pointed this out to the main hostess lady who when we first met a year ago kept a watchful eye on everyone. I tipped her extra that night. Tonight, I told her that I had no intention of ever coming back. You only have 1 chance for a first impression. I don't know if this business has changed hands or what, but it is on the wrong road. read more

My husband & I moved to the area and came here for date night. We didn't have a reservation and it looked like most of the seating were reserved. Thankfully, we were able to sit at the bar. The service at the bar was great! The food was amazing! I had a hard time choosing what to eat and ended up getting the seafood pasta. It was spicy but oh so good! We were pleasantly surprised by this under the radar gem. If you weren't looking for it, you would likely pass right by this restaurant. Very unassuming, signage is almost non existent. There's pros and cons with this review. Let's start with pros. The food is absolutely delicious, and if this review were just based on the food alone, 5 stars absolutely. It's a small place, so the ambiance is cozy. Little dark inside, we actually had to hold up our menus to the window to see the writing. The only con is the service staff. They weren't friendly, and spent most of their time chatting with each other. With such a small place, it's impossible not to notice customers. It's also impossible not to see everyone was ignored collectively. All and all, great food. Not cheap, but worth it IMO. Be prepared to order everything at once because chances are low you're ever going to get a second visit by the waitstaff to your table. read more

Went here for lunch based on the Yelp reviews. Not the restaurants fault, but you should know that they have very few items on the lunch menu. My wife ordered some kind of meatball dish. I ordered Brussels sprouts, tomato soup and a braised egg dish. The meatballs were refrigerator cold in the middle. She asked them to heat the dish. I finished my soup, Brussels sprouts and the main dish and her plate was still not back to our table. We were the only table dining. There were two people having drinks at the bar. My wife told them never mind on her dish because we went there to have lunch together. Slow service is one issue. The server acted like she really didn't care if we canceled the dish or not. You're not set to serve if one table can't get reasonable service in your place. The braised egg dish had a yogurt base to it that I did not like. The soup was good, but just warm temperate. I moved to Magnolia over two years ago and Bonfire was initially our favorite go to. Yesterday we stopped by with 3 families. Two of which were infants and two teenagers. Immediately the host noted that they had a large reservation but was going to move some tables together until we suggested outside. She helped us put the tables together and also told us that we could have the heaters but she didn't know how to operate them. Of course the husbands being me. Started to move them and a "lady" came out and obviously was disturbed by our presence. It's one thing to say your booked but another to come trail a blazing and defensive and immediately suggest we should have made a reservation mid-afternoon. I would expect that at a high end steak house but this was early afternoon lunch. Obviously her attitude took us by surprise and of course we felt the need to defend ourselves. Especially if you have a patio and we were more than open to sit outside.. Sometimes just the simple "I'm sorry, but we are not staffed today to be able to service you". Unfortunately she went out of her way to say this was "our issue" and "that's on us for not making a reservation". Tomball is a place for many to walk around and enjoy even if for a few drinks or bites to eat. Super disappointed. read more

I finally tried this spot after driving by it several times. Its a converted gas station/repair garage and those have been usually good bets in my experience. Based on my visit, it caters to an older crowd. I wasn't sure what the menu was about, but heard it was a good date night spot. Inside its very cozy with about 8 tables and some bar seats. You sit in the front portion of the former garage. They also have some outdoor seating on the patio. On a Friday night, they had live music with a female musician, but it was hot and sticky outside so I sat inside. The 1st thing I noticed was the coziness of the place. The 2nd thing was their pizza oven. As far as the menu. I would say it's creative American, but be forewarned about half the menu is pizza. The good news is that they're fun ingredients in the pizzas like oyster, pork belly and paprika. I ordered the green chile brisket pizza, pork gouda mac n cheese with pork belly and Brussel sprouts. I also added the sticky buns as an app. The sticky buns are kinda strange but passable. Gouda mac and cheese was priced well. Brussel sprouts are also priced well and tasted on par with steakhouses. I really enjoyed the pizza which was fresh and with ingredients you don't typically find on pizzas. Even for leftovers, it tasted great. read more

Revisited this restaurant and didn't have as great of an experience as the first. Service was really slow and it was not not packed at all. We waited 30 minutes before our wedge salads to arrived (we ordered salad + pizza). 15 minutes after we had given them our order, the waitress stop by our table to confirm our entire order again which made us think that maybe she forgot to put our order in initially. read more

I feel so bad for the wait staff at this restaurant because the manager is horrible!! If an entire restaurant has been waiting for hours on end for their food you would think that possibly an appetizer or a few drinks would be comped and the manager or someone would come around and apologize. Nope, none of the patrons got anything. Then i saw the manager arguing with people and being defensive about them asking why their food was taking so long versus being apologetic. Never had a bad meal here and I've been multiple times! If you order a pizza I highly recommend you asking for extra crispy. There are a lot of options on the menu but I love it because you can always try something new and it's not a boring menu! The cocktails are also extremely well crafted. Service is good, it is a smaller restaurant so SOMETIMES it takes a minute for a waiter to get over to you but they do care about your experience. A friend and I were visiting in Tomball, and stopped in Bonfire Grille for a bite . It's very Qwaint welcoming friendly atmosphere.. they have a small bar if you would like a cocktail and small bites. The menu didn't have a lot to choose from, although we did order the avocado appetizer, if you like avocados try this it's different and yummy. They finally brought out the noodles, but no chicken! Said "coming out shortly. Noodles were all bad and stuck together. Chicken never arrived. Half hour later I asked for our check. I mentioned that dinner was bad and incomplete. Manager (mean lady) finally comped me $14 for the "noodles", but not before she threw the dumb little waitress under the bus and telling us, "It's HER fault ". I have been here a lot of times for Thursday ladies night and happy hour and have always love the food and drinks. I recently am not drinking so I ordered a cocktail that was on the happy hour menu but without the rum in it and they charged me $10 per drink instead of $7 as the cocktail was priced on the happy hour menu. I asked if I could pay the happy hour price and the manager came back and said no. My two NON ALCOHOLIC drinks ended up costing me $20 while my friends that got wine and cocktails paid less. We went to Bonfire Grill Thursday night, April 6, 2024. We sat on the patio. We had friends in town from Dallas. So looking forward to showing them a great evening. It ended up being a very embarrassing evening. WE NEVER GOT OUR FOOD. The place was closing. We waited two hours and the place acted like it was no big deal. No one on the patio got theirs either. Not great. I ordered the meatball pizza. The pizza had blocks of meatball in a single piece on every other slice. You got a meatball block the length of the slice and then every other slice was just cheese. I would think to crumble up the meatball and cover the pizza so that you would have a combination in every bite. Weird. They did the same design of the dish for the brisket deviled eggs. A cube of brisket pressed into the egg with spicy dust. The regular margarita was strong and sour in a bad way. My wife and her girlfriend got espresso martinis after dinner. Extreme vodka with very very little espresso. We asked the waiter to please remake the martinis and he brought back a glass of simple syrup to add to sweeten the drinks. Weird. We also ordered a slice of cake that I don't see on the menu that had old coconut in it. Very chewy. Very tight seating in the main room in the middle area. People/waitstaff were constantly accidentally kicking the bottom of the guest's chairs. It's a very busy restaurant and I get that they need to serve as many people as possible, but I would think that removing one table may help everyone's experience. I'm a fan but my husband is not. I like the craft cocktails and the wood fire pizzas. For Tomball the service is exceptional and the menu is elevated and interesting. He was dissatisfied by the "No tasting" Craft beer policy whereby that was a non issue for me. If you are a true foodie I would advise you to give them a try. 1st I will say the food was excellent. Freshly made and unique. The homemade ingredients were evident in the brisket ravioli and on the brick oven pizzas. It was a little on the pricey side but I don't mind paying extra for quality. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive, friendly and made sure our drinks were full, including our little ones' drinks. The reason I did not give Bonfire a 5 star rating was due to their alcohol drink price and size. The martinis and glasses of wine were very small, we ordered several of each in our party so it wasn't a one off case. I ordered 2 Grey Goose martinis. They were $22 with an $8 up charge for a top shelf. That's $15 each for a small adult beverage. I live in The Woodlands area and am accustomed to paying $14 for a martini, however, they are typically large. If there was area for improvement this would be my only suggestion. read more

I liked this place. 1st time here. Here's my take: * SIZE: it is small inside, and the tables are tight and "intimate". Some people may not like that. Between the bar and the tables, you could probably squeeze 25-30 people inside. The soup was delicious - creamy and a little spicy with chunks of grilled chicken breast. * SERVICE: Our server was fine. Personable and nice. She didn't make any suggestions or explain the menu. There were a couple of drink/wine menus, and a lunch menu, plus a dinner menu. The food took a while to prepare, which is okay for an "everything from scratch" restaurant. * PRICE: We were looking for a "lighter" lunch, and found the soup & sandwich deal for $12. For the quality of the food, that was more than fair. I got a $3 Coke Zero and my wife drank water (which didn't taste nasty! Making it a safe option). We left spending $35 for lunch. *FINAL THOUGHTS: I like the intimate ambiance as long as it isn't full . I like the open kitchen and the centerpiece cylindrical brick pizza oven. They aren't hiding anything. If they'd upgrade their cheap furniture and improve the server skills a little, this would be a solid 5-star review. YES, I'll be back. read more

We were very excited to try BonFire. The atmosphere and the patrons we visited with were great. The wine was good. As were the sticky buns. But when we went to order, they were out of both dishes. Now it is 6:15 on a Saturday night. We decided to ask for our check when they magically found more of the pork. Ok we will stay. Still no Salmon. We order 1 pork and the ravioli and decide to stay. 20 mins later, they have found some Salmon???? Really did you go to HEB or what? This place is "cozy". Good ambiance and friendly service. Don't be in a hurry if you stop in for a meal or a drink because it does take a while to get your food. It's definitely worth the wait! My daughter & son had the pizza and the ingredients were very fresh and the pizza was cooked to perfection! I had a cesar salad. Ordered a large salad and was given a small. When I asked about it the waitress was quick to correct the mistake. The cesar dressing was delicious and house made, it didn't overwhelm the salad. It's very evident that they do not skimp and use quality ingredients. Their cocktails are delicious, but my daughter and son didn't like their soda as they stated it tasted "flat". The waitress was kind enough to switch their drinks for something else. Although the interior is small, the service is very accommodating. Overall we had a very nice lunch experience. I would recommend you stop in, but only if you have the time to sit and enjoy a good meal in no rush. There's limited parking, but street parking is available. read more

Great Menu options, we love the appetizers and the pizza toppings are fresh and savory. The servers are very friendly and accommodate special requests when taking our orders. This place is also fun to visit during Tomball nights! Monica at the bar makes some really good themed drinks and she gives great drink recommendations. A very unassuming place from the outside but nice and cozy on the inside with a very wide selection of bourbons, gins, etc. I enjoyed lunch there last week. The lunch menu has just the right mix of food and they have daily specials. The service was very friendly and caring. The only downside, I was looking forward to the Waygu shaved-steak sandwich, which they were out of. Glad they didn't try to substitute and I will definitely be back to grab that sandwich.
