My experience here was disappointing. The ambience was decent and the food itself was just okay--nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of your way for. However, what really stood out (in the worst way) was the pricing and overall approach to service. The restaurant seems to nickel-and-dime guests at every opportunity, especially when it comes to drinks. I ordered a martini, and not only was it poorly made, but I was also charged extra for every tiny addition--down to each individual olive. To make matters worse, that one mediocre martini ended up costing nearly as much as a filet, which is honestly hard to believe and even harder to justify!! When you're paying premium prices, you expect quality and at the very least a pleasant experience--neither of which I received. Between the rude service from Darlene, and the excessive, petty upcharges, the experience just didn't feel worth it. There are plenty of other places that offer better hospitality, better drinks, and far better value for your money. I wouldn't return. read more

We have a hit or miss at bonfire but when you go into the restaurant and 90% of the tables are empty and reserved and they won't seat you and then they said you can wait for two at the bar except for that they have no back and I had surgery recently and then they have six chairs with backs that are empty but they're all reserved and she won't let us take one of those chairs it's annoying. I don't understand how you have 90% of the restaurant tables are reserved and no one is sitting in those seats. They really need to cut out the reserved tables if no one is in them and you are turning away people at the door. This is our last attempt. Bye Bonfire. I miss the original owners so much. Came to Bonfire Grill for lunch with my boss and coworker, and since I rarely make my way to the Tomball area, this was my first time here--and wow, what an introduction. They had been hyping the food, and I'll admit... the hype was very real. Let's talk about the margherita pizza. I've had a lot of margherita pizzas, and none of them come close to this one. I don't know if it's the sauce, the cheese, the basil, the dough--or the magic of all four together--but every bite was perfection. Easily a 10/10 and officially in my top 10 margherita pizzas ever. The only reason I didn't give it five stars yet? I need to come back and explore more of the menu--especially now that work will have me in Tomball more often. I really wanted to like this place. I've been numerous times. Food and atmosphere are okay. Cocktails are terrible. Our Old Fashion came out the color of sprite; the Bonfire martini needed simple syrup to even make it drinkable. We had to ask for that separately and mix it in to taste. The one thing that drives me crazy is their wine policy. The wines on their menu are pretty low end. They have a policy where you can't sample (taste) and you have to buy 2 glasses. I've been there a couple times where I didn't like my wine and then had to buy 2 glasses. $30+ wasted. And to top it off, servers are rude.... Sadly, I think this last time is my last time at Bonfire. There are lots of other places to hang out in Tomball that have higher customer service. read more

Place was amazing. From the food, to the cocktail and wine selection. I got the lamb shank, chachutterie board and the bonfire signature cocktail. Wife got the bolognese. Both dishes well prepared. Jamie was our waiter and was friend and knowledgeable with plenty of recommendations. We will be back. The only downfall is we tried to call ahead and set a reservation but they were too busy to answer the phone. When we arrived, we were told no seats available, only patio seating, and we needed to make a reservation to sit inside. Welp, I tried... I guess the fix is call multiple times or days in advance. Prosciutto pizza. Chef goes for aesthetics by rolling up prosciutto on each slice. Good but could be better if prosciutto was baked in pizza oven giving it a nice crisp. Dough was nicely crispy on edge but soggy in the center. Needs a bit more bake time. I want this place to be successful because the menu is interesting and has potential. Cocktails are good and priced well. There are some cooking tweaks that need to happen. Salmon has nice crisp and flash flamed in the pan but over done on the inside. Should be medium rare on the inside. Please chef, consider a few cooking changes but keep the menu the same! read more

Decided to check this place out for lunch on a Tuesday. This restaurant is tiny. It looks like it seats about 30 people and that's really pushing it. I did not expect it to be that small. My friend and I had strollers and had to be seated at the high top tables for us to even fit. I had the midnight margarita and the chicken club. Both were delicious and the arugula salad that came with the sandwich was fresh and dressing was light. The menu is on the pricey side. On the other had the service was great, we had a very nice waitress and I really appreciated her trying to make us comfortable. I definitely recognize this isn't a place for families but if you have small children, keep in mind it's small and there is no changing table in the bathroom. I would've really appreciated a small changing table for parents. I may come back but probably without kids! read more

The food is always amazing, & I love their nonalcoholic menu options. They have nonalcoholic wine, beer, AND THC drinks. The food is made with clean ingredients, such as grass-fed, no seed oils, etc, so I'm generally while not calorically "light" it's healthier because of the quality. Reservations needed! read more

Ambiance: I wanted so badly to have a good experience here. We sat on the patio on a nice spring evening. The outside area seems perfect for people watching & enjoying a nice cocktail. However, I was unable to do so. I ordered one glass of red wine and everyone else at my table ordered a whiskey flight and beers. Their beers and whiskey flight were delivered as well as our appetizers and food. I was told by our waiter the wine I ordered was out, would I pick a new one? I picked a new one - only to be told that's the wine they were out of and so my original wine choice was placed again. Between this mix up on our waiter or the bar staff's end, it took about 45 minutes for me to get one glass of red wine. By this point, we had finished our food and everyone at our table had finished their drinks. I would say it was an extremely negative experience, especially given the price of the food and cocktails. We picked this spot to enjoy our drinks outside over shared appetizers and food. There was no urgency or attempt to make up for their mistake. The food itself was quite good but the entire ambiance and situation became stressful as a customer. I saw many other tables get their wine and drinks in the 45 minutes it took for me to get one glass of red wine. Our waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu or any pricing of items. It's hard to overlook a situation like this when you're paying a decent amount for food/drinks/ambiance. We correctly ordered and had more than enough patience. I would not recommend eating/drinking at this spot as it seems the priorities towards customers differs greatly. Regardless of my experience, this is a dog-friendly spot with indoor & outdoor tables. Delicious goodness! Reservation recommended. Fantastic dinner with my daughter and her man last night. Our waiter was on point. He was engaging, not afraid to provide recommendations and managed up the chef and Bonfire's "from scratch" philosophy. The waitstaff were on the ready ensuring water glasses kept full. Sometimes, it is the little things. As advertised, this cozy upscale gem pleased the palate in so many ways. We stared with the focaccia bread and shared a caesar salad. My daughter and I enjoyed a couple of the specials pecan crusted salmon and chicken and dumplings. The c&d was slightly salty for my liking, but for most... you'll consider it perfection. Dumplings were ah-mazing and perfect for a chilly night. My daughter's man enjoyed the ribeye and they shared asparagus and the jalapeño Mac n cheese. The cinnamon gelato was a wonderful surprise to wrap up the evening and the kids raved about the bourbon bread pudding. We will definitely be back! We absolutely adore this little place and visit often. Every dish we have tried from the Steak & Bella appetizer and mushroom risotto, to the skin-on salmon, ravioli, and steak is top notch. Cocktails are unique and delicious, and don't leave without a piece of Key Lime Pie for dessert!! The servers and staff (Kody, Joel, Darlene, & Lexi) are very friendly and remember us when we return. We go for birthdays and anniversary celebrations and just because. Just note that Friday and Saturday dinner times get busy and it's best to call ahead for a table. Not a whole lot of communication and hostess seemed VERY stressed which isn't really the way you should be welcoming patrons. The outside area has such potential but it was so sad looking. Unpopular opinion but this place is overrated, overhyped and overpriced. It was better when it was the unpretentious, cute, little in-town spot known as Patsy's. They still had the pizza oven, a rotating menu of specials and even a coffee bar with a drive through. Now it's a Heights wanna-be gastropub where I can't even substitute the average steak fries, for my average at best, $16.5 lunch meatball sandwich (a certain sandwich chain from New Jersey had a better meatball sub for half the price), without an up charge. Seriously? The restaurant itself is quaint although during the busy hours it is cramped and loud. They do have some good cocktails but be prepared to pay Las Vegas prices (I'm talking about on the strip, not old Vegas). Anyway, pictured is my as mentioned, $16.5 meatball sandwich I got for lunch with fries that I couldn't substitute without an up charge. The sandwich was ok, bread was good and crusty, the meatballs were kinda grainy and didn't have much flavor. The fries that I didn't want were a little on the soggy side but I ate them anyway. Wife had a chicken sandwich that she felt was also just 'meh'. The avocado cakes appetizer was also just ok; I love all of the ingredients in this dish but the execution again was lacking and was a bit heavy on the extra runny goat cheese that tasted more like yogurt than goat cheese. They also needed a crispier exterior given how mushy the avocado inside is supposed to be. This was probably our fifth time to patronize this restaurant; we swore it off several years ago after noticing the food consistently declining each time we went and the price consistently going up, until I paid $55 for an alleged Wagyu steak special that was honestly one of the worst steaks I've ever been served. Nonetheless, we decided to try it one last time to make sure, and that's exactly what it was, our last time. I adore downtown Tomball. I love sitting at the chefs' table watch everything happening. The service always comes with a wonderful smile, and the food is never frozen, always fresh. That's when you know the food is excellent - it makes you do a little happy dance in your seat. There's ample parking behind the building. Bathrooms are very clean.
