My friends wanted to try out this place, so we had a dinner here on Thursday evening. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. We had to wait for about 10 mins to be seated but it was not a big deal at all. We were taken to our booth pretty fast and got menus. The table was not cleaned well, so I asked our waitress to wipe it for us. And, she was happy to do so. I ordered half ribs, and I was very happy with my choice! The ribs were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The meat came off the bones very easily and it was flavorful. The side I chose was beans and fries. Unfortunately, my beans were a bit over seasoned and I couldn't finish it, although it was delicious. My fries came out room temperature. (But my friend's fries were hot and crispy...) Food is good, but meats are dry, they need the BBQ sauce to add flavor. Chicken is the best option because it is was still juicy. The sausage and chopped brisket were just overcooked and dried out. Took my girlfriend here and it was terrible and expensive. I've had better BBQ in Southern gas stations. Service was not horrible but it took forever to get our food. Seriously.. worst part about it was the food. I ordered the three meat plate for $18, and I ordered the brisket "burnt tips," sticky ribs, and brisket slices. I also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese and French fries. The amount of food I got for $18 should have been for a price of $9 or $10. Not $18. I received TWO individual ribs, 4 small slices of brisket that was dry, and 4 small brisket tips that were tender but either dry or over seasoned. Fries seemed like they had been laying around for a while, and the macaroni and cheese was disgusting, it has a burnt crust that was served in it. Aside from all that, the menu is too small and we watched the wait staff help prepare platters of food in the kitchen with no gloves, no hand washing (after working on the dining floor), and their hair down. I picked up a two meat platter tonight...first(and probably last experience)at Bone Daddy's. I thought the bag felt a little light and now I know why. Besides my 2 sides, there was a thin slice of unrecognizable by sight, shape or taste slice of sauce-drenched meat and 3 little triangles of ham. I ordered ham and Backyard Chicken. The unidentifiable meat neither looked nor tasted like any chicken I have ever had. In spite of the amount of sauce, once I got a steak knife to cut it, the meat was very dry and overcooked. The Cole slaw was slimy and the potatoes were cold. When I phoned in the order, the girl had to repeat the order 5 times to get it right and I only had 4 choices...2 meats and 2 sides to tell her. She stumbled over the description of the Rosdside potatoes and finally called them roadstop potatoes. read more

I usually don't have 5-stars to give a franchised joint, but I'm surprisingly hanging my Judgey McJudgerson hat up today! The Hubster & I went early today, 11:15ish, for lunch. We figured with a new place in THAT area it'd get busy & we weren't wrong. We got seated quickly & the hostess brought us bread. Yummy, soft, get-the-job-done bread. Hubster likes the decor of the place, but complained about the flies. Well, the garage door-type walls are up & it's a beautiful Lubbock day...of course there's gonna be a fly. We're having a picnic - go with it! We met our server, Rachel, and placed orders for drinks & ordered wings. The Hubster is a wing man... Rachel came back to take our food order and had all the answers to all my picky-saurus questions. I like when my server has all the answers. Nothing drives me crazier than, "Uhhhh...let me go ask." Nope. Rachel has her game on. And she was adorable. Looking around at the rest of the staff, "Hot" must have been a job prerequisite because all of the girls are very pretty. I watched two guys oogling one of the servers in particular and wondered how the place gets at night... The wings came and we liked them. They're slightly smokey with a sticky BBQ sauce and not dry. They were "out" of the Bone-In chicken (but it's Tuesday & you just opened?) so I ordered a 2-meat plate with brisket & backyard chicken - a marinated & grilled chicken thigh (boneless) with a side of skillet beans and scratch potato salad. Hubster got a Kick'd Up Sandwich called the Country Club. Remember how I said I had questions? They were mostly about my dislike for ucky potoato salad and canned ranch style beans. Well, they might use canned ranch-style beans, but they know how to fix them so they are super delicious! The potato salad was good, too. The meats were nicely flavored, and also not dry. The BBQ sauce comes in a bottle that has been kept warm and warm damp towels were also brought. The Hubster said his sandwich should be illegal. We never had to ask for drink refills...just setting them to the side and Rachel didn't even ask, she just refilled them. I. Love. When. That. Happens. Really GREAT service! I ordered the 2 meat bbq platter. The food was horrible. If it had been smoked and prepared like good, Texas barbeque, then I got the day old-reheated version. The mac n cheese tasted like it came out of a cardboard box. The beans were, by far, the best thing on my plate. I am not quite sure if this place knows what it is supposed to be. The decorations say sports bar and grill, the menu seems like a BBQ place that has more sandwiches and burgers than meat choices, and the food was well below average compared to most other BBQ places; and to really throw you off, the outside looks more like a circus than a restaurant if you see it at night. At most places, pork ribs are generally falling off the bone, but here they eat more like an overcooked pork chop that you have to really work at. The chicken we had was dry even though it was covered in sauce, the sides were hit or miss, and the pulled pork sandwich was as dry as it could be. In my experience, pulled pork generally has a sauce mixed in, but not here. Our waitress seemed very attentive when we first arrived, but it almost seemed like we didn't exist after our food was brought out. It is very rare that I completely run out of what I am drinking at a restaurant, but here I ran out and was able to eat all of the ice in my glass without ever receiving a refill. As a positive, the sausage and rolls were good, and the steamed towels that they bring out at the end of the meal are an interesting way to let people wipe off the BBQ sauce from their hands. read more

First time visiting Lubbock, Tx never would thought to come to a BBQ place. i haven't had great BBQ until today. Greeted by the Hosting Staff two guest and i sat down with waitress Ciara, who of course introduced herself and told us about the menu. Started with the Onion Rings, Then the Half Stack Ribs, with Delicious Beans, Fries and Lemonade. Ciara took care of the table supplying us with multiple refiles; also checking on us to make sure everything was going well. Offered dessert but i was way too full, then she offered the cards that offer points for each visit and delivers a gift every year for your birthday. Went here for my post graduation lunch with my family on 12/17/16. The food was alright, the mac and cheese was cold, the waitresses were nice. However, I was displeased with having to sit outside and the waitresses had to come back and forth behind you with trays, towels and drinks. Went on Father's Day. A fifteen minute wait turned into 30 minutes We did not get rolls after our order, as others did. The server said "they come and go". I guess like our food. After I saw tables around us who were seated much later than us had food, I asked our server where our food was. It immediately came out, but not too hot. I asked for new fries as they were cold. The meat was luke warm, but was starved so I took the health risk. A manager came over to confirm problem. No apology. Eventually we got the bill. One meal was excluded "bad food" it said. No recognition from the server and no I'm sorry. So after two hours, we finally left. The food, except for heat, was adequate, but nothing special flavor wise. Usually pretty good but the last 2 times, not so much. The burnt ends were so hard to chew. They're my FAVORITE when they're done right. I had to, ever so discreetly and lady-like, spit some of them in a Kleenex. Don't worry, didn't spit into the cloth napkin. I ate about half of them. The beans are so good! And the bread too, although if the butter didn't come out like a block of ice, that would be great. Willing to try again sometime. Hopefully it's not the new norm. Oh-the waitress was great! Does it beat other BBQ joints...not sure I like it better. My wife got the "burnt ends". She hates fat. They were 90% fat. I like fat but some were 100% fat with no meat. Good taste for me but I don't usually eat 100% fat for my meat either. I shared some of my sliced with her and she liked it. Sides were fries & cheese-mac that were ok. In from the Houston area & wanting some good bbq. My wife & I both ordered brisket and it was essentially tough roast beef, very little flavor. The manager mentioned they burned up their main smoker & admitted the brisket on the backup wasn't very good. Perhaps they should tell folks that before they order, or if they order brisket. He took 10% off the bill (noted as "bad food") and gave us a free dessert, but we still spent over $50 on a meal that was virtually inedible, at least for those that understand what good brisket should taste like. read more

My husband and I came in for a weekday lunch. We were promptly greeted and seated. I am not sure what our waitress's name was, but she was nice. We ordered the Smokin' Tailpipes. These were just ok. They remind me a little of the bbq version of Chili's Southwest Egg Rolls with barbecue stuff inside instead. The manager comped these without prompt because he saw that they took too long to come out. We hadn't noticed at all, but ok! My husband ordered the Baby Back Ribs with beans and fries. I ordered the 2 meat plate with burnt ends and sticky ribs. (Basically, the sticky ribs are like spare ribs. They are not the same thing as baby back ribs. I had never had burnt ends before and they reminded me of a a bbq pork chop married to a piece of steak.) I didn't care too much for the potato salad. It had a lot going on with relish, bell peppers? and was a little dry. However, potato salad is such a personal thing, so don't let my opinion sway you from giving it at least one try. The fried okra is unique in that the breading is lighter than the typical corn meal breading. It was good, however, it could have used more seasoning after being fried. The fries were good and the beans were average. Overall, I enjoyed lunch and would come back to eat and to sample one of their interesting cocktails. However, if I were craving spectacular barbecue, I would probably head to one of my other favorites. read more

No bones to pick with this bbq joint. Colorful and comfortable with a great aroma of slow cookin bbq! A friendly but "new" server wasn't sure if they served wine...and for good reason. First, I'm probably the only one drinking wine in the place. The mgr. had to come to the table and inform me they had a Chardonnay and a cab. No name, no year, no price " and not on the menu. We had heard a lot about this place and wanted to try it out. We waited 30 minutes which was expected during the lunch hour on a Saturday. We were sat and our waitress was prompt to get our drink orders then we ended up waiting 20 minutes to order. While we were waiting I saw in the food line that food was being handled by people without gloves because we sat at the back and could see the food line. This was my first trip to Bone Daddy's. We were a group of 12 people on a busy game day and they accommodated us without a problem. We were seated on the patio and it was a great atmosphere. The two small children we had were able to play while we waited for our food. The service was friendly and consistently attentive. With 12 of us, we ordered a variety of entrees from single meat plates to sandwiches none of us were disappointed. The portions are hearty and the sides are true complements to the main dish. Most ordered the roadhouse spuds as a side which were described to us as "a loaded baked potato without the skin and mixed all together." Everyone loved them. The fried okra was definitely not pre-breaded and the fries were seasoned well. The brisket was a bit dry but the hugely popular BBQ sauce made a difference.
