It was amazing to come back home to Lubbock where I grew up and went to school. We had to drive over and see our favorite dive bar that we frequented in college formerly called the "Spoon". The bar and restaurant had not changed much and we had a great time with old friends having drinks. Ice cold beer and the famous cherry bombs were a hit. The best part of coming back to the Texas Cafe was the service. We had the best service after ordering drinks and appetizers. Great happy hour, and fun to revisit our favorite college hangout after 40 years.

Drove 18 hours from California and found this gem of a BBQ spot. Tyree was super cool and welcoming, Cecily was a great server and we loved the cold beers and jalapeño sausage! Sides were amazing and the brisket was awesome!

Was visiting Lubbock for a work meeting we arrived late and were looking for a place still open where we could grab dinner. This was a nice little local joint with live music that we really enjoyed. There pizzas are on point and got the spot. Definitely recommended. Our Uber driver also mentioned something about it being the oldest bar in town.

Our family has been coming here for years. Yesterday, we had all the friends come out to celebrate the life of a dear friend that passed. Many years ago, he was a bartender here, so this was how we wanted to honor him. We called and gave notice a day or 2 before, and ended up having around 30 people come. Briana (Bri) took care of all of us and did an absolutely amazing job. For a group this big, you'd expect delays, but that didn't happen. The drinks were fast and cold, the food was amazing as always. The positivity and kindness of Bri was exactly why we all love coming back. For such a hard day, she sure made our crowd smile. Thank you Bri!

Great dive bar in Lubbock! Cold beer, including Dos Equis on tap, that is a rarity. Sat at the bar, fast service! Ordered the brisket burrito (or taco?). Damn good food! Excellent chopped brisket, NO sauce necessary! Chips and salsa too. Salsa was rich and flavorful. No big chunks of onions or tomatoes. Damn good stuff! Looking for a throwback to good times with good food and cold beer, stop in! Full bar too! Live music.

Best pizza in town! Go on Thursday for the best deal. It's amazing. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Our waitress was young and sweet and cute, but literally didn't know what a michelada was, so we said it real slow with zero Spanish accent, and she got two for a friend and I on a pretty busy Saturday night. She was so honest in her effort to figure out what we were ordering (much appreciated), and the bar tender clearly knew what was up, because the two micheladas we were eventually brought were really perfect. I am picky about how weak my favorite drink often is, especially at not-Mexican places, but these were spot on spicy. The table ordered a pitcher of some sort of sinister sweet frozen cherry sinfulness. It made my teeth click together from the sweet, but by the bottom of the pitcher it was making all of our right eyes twitch from how stiff it was. Not sure I'd ever order the stuff myself, but the boyfriend was enthusiastic about it. Three of us ate there. A pizza, the Spoon nachos, and the brisket fries were ordered. I got the fries, and ate every single last damn one when it probably could have fed three people. They were that good / I was that hungry. A girlfriend ordered the nachos and said they were too spicy, which I think is really wimpy. I suppose if you can handle any normal level of spice they were mild at most. Order accordingly. The friend who got the pizza talked about how good it was, like, every third bite. It was an 8-inch personal pizza, and he scarfed the whole thing down. I am really impressed with the food we had, and I rarely am at what seem like run-of-the-mill, ~ooh look we're in Texas, we're a BBQ joint~ places, but this outfit seems to be the real deal. On Saturday there was music playing over the sound system that was very 'Oh, I know this song!' country & classics, then later on a funk band came on (quite the gear shift) dressed in Creamsicle Orange and white. They were fabulous and we had so much fun grooving for the little time we were there while they played. There were people up front dancing, and it was so fun! Overall a really positive experience. I highly recommend this as a night place to eat before going out or as a we-never-go-out couple's date night.

Jesse Day and the Texas Nights played the night we went and it is a perfect place to listen to music and really just relax. We will return.

I went in by myself on a Thursday evening, as I was in Lubbock (and at TTU) for work meetings, and sat at the bar for a beer and dinner. Three employees -- servers and bartenders -- were working the place, as it was summer and school wasn't yet in session, so while most tables were filled, the bar had empty seats and a couple of tables were still empty. TEN MINUTES I sat at the bar before I was even acknowledged, and that was because the two guys next to me, who'd been there at least that long themselves, finally asked for menus, and so I said, "I'd like one, too." The guy got me a menu and I decided on what to order. Set the menu down, and another 5+ minutes went by while the servers dealt with other tables and even other customers at the bar. Now, we are 15+ minutes in, and finally the guy who got me the menu asked if I wanted something to drink. I ordered a beer, where he could have TURNED AROUND to enter it in the register and pour it from the tap, but he went to another table and I didn't see him again for another 5 or so minutes. At that point, I'd had enough, and I left. I would have enjoyed trying the pizza and enjoying a beer there. The place had a cool vibe and the food looked and smelled good, from what I could see from neighbors. But the dismissive attitude of the staff who must actually have looked THROUGH me (I was at the very center of the bar and I'm pretty sure I'm not transparent) and having been ignored for about 20 minutes was enough. Went down the road to Flippers Tavern and had a wonderful experience there! Sorry, but if you can't even acknowledge your customers when you're busy but not slammed, you don't deserve my business. Maybe it's because I'm an Old Dude and not a young hipster or college student, but it was disappointing and frustrating. Bottom line: skip this place, especially if you're over 35 or so.

I will start off by saying sometimes the wait is excruciatingly slow for dine-in, whether it is almost empty or packed. However, takeout is usually pretty on top of it. Capital wins out if you like your crust a little doughy. There is this intense softness to their pizza that it is almost like tasting a cloud. It is legit. Some personal favorites of mine are their Hot Honey pizza, but this last time I ordered a Classic Margherita, and I loved it. It is really like no other pizza place I have been to, and I always find enjoyment in their immensely doughy crusts. It used to be only order over the phone, but it is nice to order online using Slice now because you do not have to preplan and prepare for a phone call. You just pick your pizzas and order. It is great. I enjoy dining in as well. The place feels pretty small, but there is a big overflow room in the back on busy nights. They have a full bar, which is pretty cool for keeping the party going. You do have to pay a little more than at your typical pizzeria, but I think the tradeoff is worth it. What...was that?…read more Perhaps that's the issue. I remember what One Guy's used to be. It was formerly a place that I'd recommend to anyone visiting from out of town as a local favorite. It was a place I went when I cared less about convenience and using a coupon for some chain pizza and instead wanted something absolutely delicious. Sadly, it's not that anymore. The salad out front was decent enough, albeit pretty basic and definitely nothing special. The calzone was watery. Yes, watery. I don't even know how or why, but there was an excessive amount of watery liquid coming out of it. The pepperoni pizza was decent enough, but definitely no better than you're going to get from a chain, or (I can't believe I'm saying this) frozen. The sauce was particularly off-putting and gave me a different kind of nostalgia than I thought I would get eating here. It reminded me of eating Chef Boyardee vlin microwavable bowls as a kid. I was told that after taking the leftovers home and trying them the next day, they were even worse reheated. I didn't have that misfortune myself as I was done with it after the meal. The service was adequately good, but there was no crowd like I would have expected, and it's easy to see why. I'm fully aware of the reasons things may have gone a different direction (specifically downhill) at One Guy's and that there are now more options in town. I just hoped that this location still had some of that pizazz that made it special. Sadly, I was disappointed.
