    Smokehouse Salad
    Ricardo J.

We came here every night of a three night work trip. I ate here two nights, but drank on all three. The first meal I had here was the Smokehouse Salad. The salad was considerably well-sized, with pieces of "burnt ends" (moist brisket) scattered among the greens as were bacon pieces. The balance of flavors and texture was good. Anisa took good care of us at the bar. Second night: no food - just drinks slung out to us by the very professional Kirsten. The beers were cold and well-priced at Happy Hour. Our last night, I had the Catfish Dinner, which our bartender Kinsey said was a relatively new dish. The catfish came out hot and crunchy, and the cornmeal batter was delicious. The sides of okra and coleslaw were also very good. I would come back here for good food and great service. This establishment certainly broke the restaurant chain stigma.

Arrived a little before 2:00 pm on a Sunday. We ordered salads with chicken and brisket. We were told they're out of brisket and chicken. I mean, seriously, wtf?? Ordered water with lemon, didn't get lemon. Went to the restroom and the doors won't lock. What is going on?? Then, when we had to ask for silverware - twice - we were given a plastic utensils pack. Sixteen minutes after we were seated I got my draft beer. I've always liked Bone Daddy's but this was not a great experience. My sister ordered a go-to order of catfish and onion rings and we sat for 20 minutes with at least 2 people saying "it's coming right out" or "it's next up". Finally we had staff come by and say "you had the link sandwich??" No. No we didn't. They offered to refund the catfish meal. At no time did a server come by and offer us refills on water or other drinks. The lady who thought we ordered a link sandwich mentioned they'd "locked the doors" and weren't letting others in - I guess because they were basically out of all food.

While in town to pick my son up from college, we ended up here after our first two dinner choices had long waits. I can see why this place didn't have a wait like it's neighbors. We were seated immediately. What saved this place from one star was the awesome customer service. We started off with their queso. To me, it tasted like jarred or canned queso. It was lukewarm, borderline cold. My son enjoyed it, me not so much. I'm guessing anything tastes good compared to what college kids eat. For entrees, we both got three meat plates. I went with brisket, burnt ends and hot links. I know places like this make meat in large quantities and not cooked to order, but just like our app, the food came out barely hot. The brisket was very dry. The burnt ends was very sweet and dry. The sausage tasted ok. For my sides I got mac & cheese and fried okra. The mac was ok and the okra was borderline burnt. Could I have said something? Sure. We just knew we were just going to get more of the same thing and we just chalked it up as a loss. I can see why this chain didn't survive back home in Houston.

Small portions. Dry meat (even after I doused it in sauce). Dissatisfying.

Traveling and needed to find a place that offered GF. I was surprised at the uniform choice of such tight shorts on the servers that I felt incredibly uncomfortable I was with my 15 yr old son. Not exactly what I was hoping for. They were out of the ribs so I ordered brisket. It was dry and everything else was just OK. I have celiac disease and they have a separate gf menu that is more like a suggestion. I went there because my gf app had good ratings, but it was overall a disappointment.

I've been to this location several times and have never had bad food, bad service, or an inattentive server. I'm not sure why I've never stopped on here to make mention of that before until now but I do know last night was exceptional. I wanted a Bloody Mary and decided on Bone Daddys. Had no idea if it would be any good or not, but as it was 9pm on a Tuesday, I didn't have a ton of options in addition to wanting dinner with the drink. (Random time for a Mary, I know) When I drove by, it looked totally dead- to the point that I called to make sure the hours were correct online (yanno, because COVID). They were in fact open another hour... Honestly, I was not expecting much at the end of the day, especially at a BBQ place. I was literally setting myself up mentally for something dried out and not-so-great. Right off the bat, the bartender and server acted plenty happy to see us... if you know what a rarity that is around here when you're walking in near close... these two ladies were SO chipper and welcoming. Not like we were a bother at all. The bartender I'm told was a newer girl but let me tell you, shes got that Bloody Mary DOWN. It was perfect, and spicy, and not heavy handed but the vodka wasn't hidden. I wanted extra olive brine and she came through. Our waitress... I'm not sure how to commend this without it sounding a little bad, but I mean it well- sometimes in the service industry you just HAVE to push through- but I could hear she was kinda getting over a cold- She's at work, the closing shift, happy as a clam, and super helpful...while probably not feeling her best- so Tory/Tori/Torie- you're a go-getter and I'd pick you as my waitress ANY TIME! Now to the food. NOT ONLY was it out in great time, it was just as fresh and delicious as the beginning of lunch. I truly didn't expect that at the end of the day. It was even better than anything I'd had there before, and as I've mentioned, I already didn't have complaints. First out we ordered the Barky's jalapeños- they were great and definitely spicy...on a tolerable but noticeable level if that makes sense. I got the two meat (which is entirely too much food, so don't let the price deter you; you get A LOT) I chose the burnt ends and the sausage- both were fantastic. Okra (omg so good) and Roadhouse spuds (I could eat nothing but these). My friend got the sliced brisket- listen, it wasn't dazzling , but it was also the end of the day- I'd give it another shot. She also ordered sticky pork ribs which they were out of but subbed a nice helping of baby back ribs, and the menu doesn't lie when it says "fall off the bone", those things were DELICIOUS. Kitchen- kudos to you for still pushing out good food when you're probably super ready to get off your feet and relax. Effort all the way to the end really says a lot about a persons work ethic. I have enough leftovers that if i treat right, will be enough for two meals today. I need to visit this place more often and try other things. It'll be hard to do now that I've had those burnt ends though, I'll be honest.

Had The Mechanic. It wasn't bad but for a $14 potato it could have been better. I'm having to budget these days so if that seems picky, sorry.

I decided to try Bone Daddy's because I saw they had burnt ends. I see the recipes for them online but never actually tried them. Boy boy boy were they good!! The meat was tender like oxtails!! It was sweet but tangy. I loveddd the burnt ends!! The okra was crispy and well seasoned. Now for the not soo good. The Green-beans were bland and the ribs were not falling off the bone. That REALLLYY disappointed me all n all 3/5 Edit: Cornbread didn't taste like anything. Was kinda soft like a roll but no taste.

Queso & Chips - add brisket! Excellent...
    Scott B.

Great addition to the Lubbock casual dining scene. Nice open concept, with lots of seating options and plenty of TVs. Great service. Here just for snack, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Queso & Chips, and was glad I took my server's advice to add brisket to it. Good stuff. Polished it off with a Blue Moon Wheat Beer on draft for a great finish. I'll be back.

    Burnt ends in brisket platter

Service and atmosphere was very nice. Staff was super friendly and attentive good country western good atmosphere. I was far is the food first of all I'm a BBQ aficionado I'm very picky! The meat had deep smoky flavor yeast is a A+. But the Burnt Ends to chewy for my liking and the brisket was dry. If they can improve on these two point it would be perfect perfect. The backed bean tasted like canned Hormel chili ! Coleslaw was very nice and creamy! I didn't like the touch of having the barbecue sauce in a warmed bottle. Very nice. I would recommend you give it a try...

Good Line publicly opened its doors in mid-2022, and after I turned 21 that November, I immediately found myself becoming a regular. Through my final two years of college, I would always come to get some easy school work done, work on final projects, grab some beers with my friends, and come to their fun events like Oktoberfest, 4th of July, their anniversary parties, Cinco De Mayo with Jiminez, Lager Jam West, and more. From the owners Chris and Shawn to their staff like Eli and others, they are all very charming and great people to talk to. They all know their stuff when it comes to beer, so they can guide people who only know Miller Lite and Blue Moon as well as those with a more expansive palate, making sure each person gets the right beer for themselves. I always found myself trying new beers and styles done exceptionally well by Good Line that I may have never tried if not for their location existing. Some of my favorites they have served are Range Life, Parklife, which I miss since it has not made a return in some time, Floating in Space, These Pretzels, Wish I Was A Baller, All Night Candlelight, Specifics On The General, and Old Man Marley, to name a few. They also have a killer Cherry Seltzer and a pretty good wine based margarita. Their cheaper light beer, Friendo, is another great choice for people who are not looking for crazy craft beer but can still appreciate quality. There is plenty to do at Good Line, from watching major sporting events to joining the Monday night run club, participating in their book club, or just chopping it up with other Lubbock residents. It feels like a third space for a very specific kind of person. A person that loves a good beer but does not get plastered. A person that loves a good conversation on music with someone they have never met before. It is always a great time at Good Line, and I have met some really great people and regulars just from the times I have visited. I do not live in Lubbock anymore after graduating, but every time I visit, I always make a stop once or twice because it is always worth my time. God bless the Line. This place doesn't even have a fly swatter or flip flop from an angry Mom. The Sweet and Spicy burger arrives. It was good enough. Just so that you know FIFA WC soccer was on. Ivory Coast was up on Curaçao 2-0 and Germany was tied up with Ecuador 1-1 in a close and better elimination game. The audio for the bar was for the CIV v CUW. I was interested in the Germany v Ecuador game so I asked, "can we get the audio to the GvE game?" "No, those two ladies (only two other patrons in the bar) are watching the game being played/heard.". "No problem", I say. Meanwhile the women are talking super fast and weren't even taking breathes enough to hear the broadcast nor looking at the TVs. In my head I thought, man I don't write reviews often but this would be an epic one star. But decided chill out, and not. I finish my burger and beer and about with :15 mins left in the match the bartender changes the audio (to GvE) which is met with applause by the women, and an inner smile by me. Ecuador scores almost instantly as they pound on the table and stand on their stools, as if they were on Bourbon Street and things could get very interesting. Hmmm, I think to myself. These damn women are Ecuadorian. So what's with thinking they were Curaçaoian? Or am I to believe they didn't give two about looking at the Curaçao game and suddenly became super fans when the Ecuador game was turned on audio. Honestly. Did he miss the mark that much? Sure did. Anywho, the check arrives at the burger menu priced at $13 comes up as $13.83 and the pints are also like $9.odd amount like $9.81 or something. The total is $33.blah blah. I hand over my card but ask, "what's with the strange pricing? The menu says $8 for each item." "Oh let me check...oh yeah it because the menu lists cash prices and so if you pay cash, you get that price, if not you pay this price." WTH!!! Maybe that's listed on the menu. But a 10% service charge on beer to cover a what 3-4% Visa fee. Man, please be overcharging to buy some fly swatters or hanging stank away bags. So yeah, 1-star.
