Though the service was great, I didn't care much for the food. Although I'm sure others enjoy it, I'm very picky when it comes to my foods and when I asked the server what was in my dish (I don't remember what I ordered) she left out that it had onions and other condiments that I did not like. This place is phenomenal. There's a very welcoming environment, the staff is extremely helpful and attentive, and the food is excellent. As soon as we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. We were seated almost immediately out by the firepit to keep us warm while we watched the games. We ordered beers straight off the tap and they were perfectly chilled. Next came the Jalapeño poppers and they were out of this world! The whole Jalapeños, fried and stuffed, were a perfect combination of flavors. I could have eaten ten, but it only comes with five. My girlfriend and I fought viciously over the remaining popper. I conceded her victory. Next came our salads, and I can't comment enough on the flavor and texture of the croutons, a buttery delicacy, perfectly cut and crispy like some sort of magical spell was placed upon them. The salads were followed by another round and some great, flaky bread, and... then... the main course..... Oh the main course.... I had the ribs and my girlfriend had the brisket sandwich. The meat melted right off the bone. I stared awe stricken as each tender piece fell off the rib like warm butter. The ease of eating was topped only by the flavor, as each bite tantalized my taste buds with that perfect salty yet sweet and savory blend that only the finest of BBQ connoisseurs can get right. Walked in at 12:30 and only half of the place is being seated, or just after us the other side would be aeated. So we wait for them to prepare the table they wanted to seat us at, while the person that came in 5 minutes after our already 5 minute wait, was seated on the unused side. We didn't request anything specific when they asked "booth or table," but we replied either would be fine. So, 2-3 minutes later we are taken to a 4 top table with a chair missing (I noticed the high chair being taken away while waiting) and food scattered on the floor under the table. I mentioned it to the hostess, but got no response. She could have easily moved us to one of the empty tables on the recently opened side, so we stood there waiting again for what was only for 20-30 seconds, but was already beyond unacceptable. I am from California and travel to Texas regularly for work. I look forward to the great BBQ in Texas. This is my first time to Bone Daddy's in Lubbock and I thought I found a great spot. I ordered take out from here yesterday and the food was good, a little heavy on the smoke (and I'm a smoked meat guy) but the burnt ends were great. Today however, was a different story. I placed a to go order for pick up as a late lunch. I was not able to go to lunch until about 2pm. I ordered enough food so I would have some left overs for dinner and wouldn't need to run back out. I ordered a 3 meat platter with burnt ends, sliced brisket, backyard chicken, beans and spuds. Ordered the smoking tailpipe appetizer, a side of Mac and cheese, and a gallon of sweet tea. A ton of food. When I arrived to pick up the food in the bar, I waited for the bartender who is in the back. When she came out she immediately approached me and asked how she could help. I told her I was picking up a to go order. She asked if I had any burnt ends on my order, I said yes, she said they were out of burnt ends. I said, ok how about pulled pork instead? She said they were out of that as well. I told her to go ahead and give me a double portion of the sliced brisket then. I gave her my name and she left. She came back out a few minutes later and sat a bag next to me and said, here you go. I glanced at the bag and saw there was not a gallon of sweet tea. I told her I ordered a gallon sweet tea as well. She said ok, and left. She walked to the other side of the bar and proceeded to help two customers who were sitting there, then she walked to two other customers at the bar and helped them. Another waitress came over and gave her an order, she proceeded to make the order. Then she asked the waitress if she could bring her a gallon of sweet tea. While I was standing there I opened the bag and saw I was also missing the smoking tailpipes and the mac and cheese. I tried flagging her down twice while she talked to customers and waitresses. Finally about 5 min later the waitress came back with the gallon of sweet tea, sat it on a counter behind the bar and walked away. Another 2-3 minutes went by before she grabbed the tea and brought it over to me. I was then able to show her my email confirmation/receipt and tell her I was still missing items. She looked at the email, went through the bag she gave me, and looked at the email again. She finally said ok I will be right back. Just a couple of minutes later she came back out with another bag that had the rest of my order. She apologize for the mistake and I left. When I got back to my hotel, I pulled out my food. The smoking tailpipes were cold, not even warm. I opened the plate with the meats and was expecting a large portion of brisket. Sadly it was an even smaller portion than I had received yesterday, and this was supposed to be a double portion. The backyard chicken was cold, tough, and dry. I apologize for the long rant, but I felt I needed to get this out. I was excited to hear that there was a Bone Daddy's opening up in Lubbock. I went to one of there locations in the DFW area and it surprised me with the quality of the food and service. So I definitely wanted to see it this location would hold up the experience I previously had. Upon entering I was greeted and sat down instantly. Didn't have to wait long for a waitress to see if anyone had attended to us. I'll tell you since it's one of the newest places in town it was pack and waitresses were just short of running back and forth. I ordered a lemon as I normally do but I was informed after about 2-3 minutes that they were out and it would be awhile before another batch got made. So I ordered a sweet tea instead, it came out and look fine but tasted off possibly from the container it was in. So I just a water. My buddy ordered some mix drink that he said was on point tasting, just lack in the alcohol department (watered down). I ordered the Texana and my friend ordered the Baby back rib plate. Both came with French fries, which were seasoned and hot upon delivery. My sandwich bread was a little on the buttery side but I figured that was from it being prep and toasted on the grill. The brisket meat was tender and flavorful. The bacon had a nice crisp to it and added that flavor that made the sandwich that much more enjoyable. The other topping (onion ring, tomato, lettuce) were fresh as well. I don't believe they put any extra sauce on the sandwich but instead bring you out a warm bottle of bbq sauce. I tried a little bit of on my sandwich and was happy I didn't put it on the whole thing. I prefer the taste of the smoke marinated into the meat. My buddy also ordered the chips and queso which after trying it, it is probably the best queso I ever had out at a restaurant. The chips are fried and seasoned, the cheese has diced tomato and onions in it with a BBQ smoke taste to it that's not over powering. I ask my friend how his ribs was after he clean his self up from and he said they were really good. I watch him try to pickup the first rib and the bone just slid out of the meat. At that very moment I kind of got mad at myself for not ordering the ribs. Lol! Hey, just wanted something different. Both of us were highly surprised with our checks but all that meant was we were taking care of our waitress for the awesome service, expedient food delivery with such a pack place and for the conversation she had with us. Needless to say that I will be going back again when I need a BBQ fix and I'm in town. Oh I forgot to mention that it is a sports bar so they have TV's lined throughout the establishment with the sound of the game loud enough to here over the crowd but not drown out your table conversation. The mark down was for the drinks and since they had the gate opened for extra seating it allowed flies that weren't bad but annoying enough for me to double check they weren't in the prep/cook area with my waitress. read more

We waited 15 minutes before a girl cleaning the table next to ours took our drink order. She was very quick and told us our waitress was in the back doing something but would be out quickly. That was not a true statement because two other people came in a few minutes after us and had their drink order and meal served while we waited. Another waitress from another area came by and took our food order. She did apologize for the wait and reminded us our waitress was in the back busy doing something but would be back to tend to us. Later, the manager lady came by with our food and again apologized for not being served sooner. Never mind, two other tables next to ours had already been served and left the premises before we got our order. We both ordered burnt ends, Mac-n-cheese and beans. Nothing too complicated I think. The food was cold and no one came by to check whether we needed drink refills or ask about the food. We decided to take our food to go so we could take it home to reheat. My wife and I enjoyed our meal at Bone Daddys tremendously! It was what I call a grand slam dining experience. The food, the ambience, the service, and the background music were all perfect. I had The Flying Pig sandwich, which was pulled pork, glazed ham, smoked sausage, and bacon. It was a gastronomical, Epicurean delight (it was awesome). For my sides I had fried okra, which was about the best I have ever had. It was even better than my mama's, and french fries. My wife had the two meat platter with burnt ends (one of their must popular dishes) and brisket. She had cole slaw, which was coarsely chopped, the way I personally like it, and skillet beans, which is baked beans with chunks of meat in it, also very tasty. My wife is a very picky eater so when she says a meal is excellent, it IS excellent. Our server, J.Q. was attentive, pleasant, efficient, and delightful. She was so delightful that I asked to speak to the manager, Taylor, to tell her how fantastic everything (especially J.Q.) was. The music playing was a great mix of country and country-rock playing at just the perfect sound level: easy to hear but not interfering with conversation. Head on over to Bone Daddys. I'm only writing this review as this is the fourth time we've come here and had issues. Every time we come to this location we've tried to order drinks, and they never bring them to us. We ordered a simple beer on tap and a mixed drink off the menu. Our drink never came, and our food came. As we were telling the hostess, since we couldn't find our server, the hostess looked at us like we were stupid. We canceled our drinks obviously since who wants to have a drink after their food. The server then came with the drinks and we sent them back. Then explained she's gonna take it if the tab.... Ok we didn't drink it? WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER! They say that if you have a bad experience at a restaurant that you tell 10 people about it... well, my mission is to tell 100 people. First, the good: My husband and I arrived and were seated rather quickly. The waitress was pleasant when she came to the table. We said that we wanted water and would look over the menu for drinks and appetizers. Now for the BAD: the waitress disappeared after dropping off the water. We sat there with a glass of water for 20 minutes. This was not an exaggeration.... we sat for 20 minute waiting for the waitress to come back. And it wasn't just us, the table next to us was also irritated with the abandonment of the wait staff. By the time she came back, she mumbled something about being 'sorry' for being gone so long because she 'overcharged' a previous customer and was having a problem refunding the credit card. I've got a crazy idea... why don't you get a manager to handle that instead of abandoning your other customers??? By this time, we don't want any drinks from the bar or appetizers because we don't want to wait any longer. So, Bone Daddy's, you just missed out on that sale. We ordered two sliced BBQ sandwiches.... and you guessed it... the waitress disappeared again. The final insult was that people that were seated AFTER us got their dinner BEFORE us. I looked at the time again and another 20 minutes had passed. Seriously, we sat there for 40 minutes with only 2 glasses of water. I mean you aren't cooking the brisket in the back. I know that it's already cooked and all you have to do is slice it and put it on a bun. Also, the waitress needs to be educated on customer satisfaction when the restaurant clearly drops the ball. She never once brought us a complimentary loaf of bread or free appetizer to make up for the crappy service. Also, she should have put a "rush" on our meal after making us wait the first twenty minutes... but she did neither. We got up and left at this point. 40 minutes and no food... good job Bone Daddy's!! As we were leaving, a server was finally bring out our dinner. She stopped me and asked if we already ate.
