Best chicken I've ever tried. The sweet and spicy flavors on the crispy Korean chicken is to die for. One of a kind. The rest of the menu is great too. It's a small place but not compact and it's pretty comfy. Had multiple TVs which made watching the warrior play and seeing poker at the same time an awesome experience. Very bad treatment by staff. As a single diner, the lady made me wait ** 15+ min ** with an EMPTY table in front of me, and no one else was waiting. She just wanted to get bigger business plus she didn't bother to explain until I ask. Even the underling staff felt this was unfair. I could have finished eating in that waiting time ! Went into the new Bonchon in downtown Mountain View today. On top of the food being so tasty (you must try the Soy Garlic Chicken Strips), the service was amazingly good. Julie was my server and she was so friendly and welcoming. Throughout my time at lunch, she checked in after I had a few bites and again a bit later. Then, at the end of the meal, she said something that just won me over. It was simple and likely it's said to all of their customers, but she very sincerely said: "I hope to see you again soon." It's soooo good the Korean fried chicken is one of the best fried chickens I've ever tasted and the teokbokki is so good as well there is spice but it's so good and I would totally recommend this place to many of those who want to find one of the best Korean fried chicken. I've been to all the Bonchon locations and this one is by far the best. It's a nice space with plenty of draft beers. They even have Old Stock Ale which is one of my favorites and usually hard to find. The menu is larger than the Sunnyvale location but chicken is just as good. Came here on Thursday during lunch time. The worst thing is finding parking near Castro. Took me 15 mins at noon. Bonchon is busy, both with take out orders and seated customers. Put your name down on the list, but they wouldn't sit you down until your entire party is here (even if you tell them you can order right away. Don't order at the take out and then ask for a seat, that wouldn't work either.) We ordered a combo half spicy and half not spicy, the chicken is crunchy, and tasty! This is a must order. Order the Japchae clear noodles (that was ordinary), the chicken wrap with avocado (that was super good), bibimbap taco (that was tasty, but I can't say that I am wowed by it). For all this food, 3 of us paid $20 including tips and have some food left over to take home. So that was great!! read more

Growing up in Korea, I have many fond memories of eating KFC. We live about an hour away from here and every time I am in the area I either think about stopping here or I do stop here. The chicken is so crispy it cracks and crunches when you bite into it. It's always piping hot too. They can be pretty busy and have a long wait but that's expected with food that's this good. I tried their duk boki and japchae too and they are okay. The chicken is the thing to eat here. All of the sauces were good and the spicy isn't too bad. read more

I usually love Bonchon and have been to many other locations. This was my first and last time coming to this Mountain View location. My friend and I arrived around 7:30PM, it was fairly busy but we got seated within 10 minutes and placed our order 5 minutes later. 45 minutes later people that arrived before us start receiving their orders and we started wondering what had a happened with our order. Ten minutes later after trying to flag down one of the waitresses she asked us if we were ready to place our order (this was the same waitress that initially took our order). After reminding her we placed our order she asked what was our order and as soon as I start re-ordering she walks away as I am midway through my original order, I had to get up and let her know that she didn't get our whole order. 20 minutes pass after our second order and we receive our first plate of chicken, it was not worth the wait at all. The chicken was really hard and super salty, it wasn't even eatable. We let them know and they offered a 10 percent discount. The manager eventually came out and offered us a 25 percent discount (the food should of at least been free at this point). When the bill came out it only has 10 percent off our order, yup we saved a hefty total of $2 for waiting 1.5 hours for salty stale chicken. read more

It's a solid Bonchon. The location is convenient and the chicken is always tasty. If you are in the neighborhood and craving Korean fried chicken, you can't go wrong. Some issues: the prices are really steep here, the service can be slow and rude (been here 3 times and had rather poor experiences with the service twice, and I'm not one to be a stickler regarding service), and they don't provide the complimentary pickled radish that I get at other Bonchons. As such, knocking it down to a 3 star. There are better Bonchons and better Korean fried chicken places, but this gets the job done. read more

Bonchon is delicious! We've been to the one in Sunnyvale before and we went to this one (on Castro) for the first time today. The lunch specials are great, specifically the combo fried chicken. This location is much more modern and in my opinion has a better ambiance than the one in Sunnyvale. Gnats, gnats and gnats!!! I never been in a restaurant with so many Gnats. On the wall, near the plates. I don't want to know what's inside the kitchen. Pretty disappointed to see how dirty the restaurant is. Also, it would be nice to offer customers clean wipes to wash their hands from the chicken vs going to the dirty restroom. Oh and the chairs are awful, so loud when the works are moving them around. This places has so much potential with good chicken. I was skeptical as I've been to the other Bon Chon and was underwhelmed by what I ordered. Maybe it was a bad day. Went here last night with an out of town friend and it lived up to the hype. We had the japchae, potstickers (spicy) and a small order of drumsticks and wings (spicy). Just the right amount of heat to balance out the flavors. We ordered enough to take a portion home. I love bon Chon chicken. They have a full menu at this location, 10 beers on tap, and a old stock ale which is at 12% alcohol. Also decked out with 5 big screen tvs which will be nice when the warriors start their upcoming season. The spicy was very hot for me (I don't take spice well) but that didn't stop me from grabbing my 4th piece..! I also had the bibimbap and thought it was okay. I should start by saying that I love Bonchon chicken...it's my favorite chicken to eat. This location though? Horrible, slow service. Came here when I was in Mountain View for a lecture. The order was pretty simple...just a small order of drumsticks. It wasn't super busy, it it still took over 40 minutes to get it. And people who were seated after I placed my order got their food, ate it, and left before we got served. After 45 minutes, I finally asked a waitress for an update because I was on a time crunch to get back to the lecture. It shouldn't take that long to fry chicken, especially when people order the same thing as me (after me) and get it before me. The waitress came back and said the kitchen was "backed up" but they would place a rush on the order. Don't bullshit me...just tell me they lost the order. Anyway, an hour after I placed my order, I finally got my food. Although this is my favorite chicken, no fried food is worth waiting an hour for. On 17DEC17, Young buckaroo craved exotic chicken. Mediocre orange chicken wasn't going to cut it. Hot wings ruins his gains. He needed the secret..... Hopping along, he stumbled across a peculiar name "BonChon chicken" Enticed by curiosity, he set foot into the establishment where he was not greeted nor given any acknowledgement. Most would assume that customer service there was subpar. (Could it be that his gains intimidate humans?) Young buck had not a care in the world for service as long as he achieved his macros. However, Young buck was forced to stand awkwardly near the door whereas the only four seats for the waiting area were taken! Young buck became provoked by the humans that walked through the same side of the door he was waiting by. Although there were two sides of the door they had the audacity to walk toward Young buck! In addition to the ignorance of people, the staff had no violence of action! While the customers patiently waited for an abundance of open the staff grew complacent and even more recumbent. After a painstakingly long queue, Young buck was finally awarded with the table by the bathroom. Young buck is very thick skinned, nothings gets past him without talking to his pecs. The exotic chicken he had longed for came in three variations with delicious combinations. It gave him a new perspective on gains gallore!! He could choose which aspect of the chicken to get more protein than the regular "wings" he had the option of choosing drums or even strips. This restaraunt presented first, with average customer service but the presentation had definitely delivered and paid off. He ordered the soy garlic wings and spicy drumsticks. The beautiful orange glaze sparked deliciousness. It's almost as if you could see your face as a reflection! The complexion of crunchyness upon the drumstick spoke of untold flavors with your first bite. It was an explosion of sweet and crunchy combined with the perfect cooked tender white meat!! Claws down, this is definitely an experience to meet. I'm going here over wingstop or buffalo anyday. However I'm knocking down 2 stars for customer service. read more

The chicken is absolutely out of this world, as well as the radishes. The soy garlic flavored pieces are my favorite, though both the soy garlic and spicy versions are delicious. There was an off-putting smell in the restaurant, most likely from whatever was used to pickle the radishes, which knocks off a star.
