Solid 4 stars. I've been coming here for over 5 years, and it's always been reliable. The fish is fresh, portions are good (they don't skimp), and the staff is welcoming. My usual order is scallop (It's tossed in a creamy sauce that adds the richness), octopus, and salmon with ponzu + wasabi mayo. Their sauces aren't too salty or overpowering, which is perfect for me. I'm not a fan of super heavy mayo or super sweet teriyaki-like sauces many other poke places use. Only bummer is they recently got rid of the large bowl and raised prices. Over 20 dollars incl. tax for a regular bowl feels a bit steep. I considered giving an extra star, but decided against it because of this. Hopefully the regular bowl + soup combo deal stays around. This is the worst poke bowl I've ever had in my life. Their "large" portion is the size of a regular portion at other places. Not only that but their sauce is not good and the bowl overall is very bland and sad looking. Look at the scoop of spicy tuna which counts as 1 protein. It's literally a third of the size of other places. The spicy tuna is tasteless and the crab salad is shredded imitation crab without any sauce or seasoning. I tried calling multiple times to make sure that they didn't give me the wrong order but their phone doesn't work. I am so upset that I ordered 3 bowls Togo just to be met with disappointment. Poke Bar is tucked away in a market located downtown Mountain View. The girl that helped me was super nice and the fish portions are pretty good and generous. There was no line so I was quickly able to order and get my bowl. Most of the ingredients are pretty fresh except the avocado that was starting to brown a little bit- that could be because I came towards the end of the day. Great quality for the price and quantity they give!! I wasn't expecting such a huge bowl of fish and toppings but this could definitely be two whole meals worth of food. I love that some toppings that normally cost extra (seaweed salad and crab) comes with any bowl, and they are pretty generous loading up on toppings. The flavors sometimes get pretty salty, so I would try to balance the fish out with the sauce you pick, especially since the sauces are a hit or miss. It was in a small grocery store in Mountain View, so it's a little bit difficult to find, but once you know the spot, it's so easy to keep coming back. Because of this though, it's a bit hard to find accessible seating, so I had to walk pretty far to sit down and eat. Grab your clipboard, filled in your order with a clean sanitized pen, give the worker dude your clipboard, drop your dirty pen in the dirty pen basket, pay and wait outside. Pickup your food when the dude calls your order and sit outside and enjoy your meal. Or take it home and eat like a hermit. We ordered: Sunset bowl: my mom liked this but she said she wished it had some spice to it. I gave her some of my spicy tuna and spicy mayo. Make our own bowls: hubby and I got the same two spicy and wasabi mayos but our sauce looked different. We both like our poke topped with spicy mayo that has little orange fish eggs in it. I love the concept since there is also a Poke Bar in San Francisco that's also located inside a market, but Poke Bar has continued to be disappointing for me. We came here a few times and their poke is solid. I loved their topping options and would always get a large so I could eat half now half later. You want to eat it in the same day thought because the rice especially gets dry in the fridge. I'd usually get half brown rice half mixed greens. I'd get most of the toppings but really here it's based on your preference. For sauces I'd suggest the ponzo and spicy mayo, maybe with the shoyu too. What's nice is that this location is inside a small store so you can grab drinks. We usually grab a couple specialty sodas. The cashier has a bottle opener. On any given day, you'll find people passing through to pick up their online orders, but they'll gladly take your order in person too. For Mountain View standards, the poke is pretty solid, but not amazing. The portion size is good, the toppings are generously sprinkled on, and most importantly, the fish tastes fresh. Poke Bar also periodically puts out new items, which is a nice touch. My only complaint is that I wish they didn't use the paper boxes (I mean, if it's more sustainable I guess that's okay), because it causes the rice to stick to the box, which is frustrating and potentially wasteful. read more

Should've driven to the one in Santana Row. This is what I get for being lazy I guess. The dude working the bar didn't know what he was doing. Generally you pick the protein and the sauces are mixed in with the proteins... anything else like garnishes and toppings are for later.
