Let me start by saying I am not a newbie to Bonchon. I usually get it from the Fort Lee or Leonia location. I was at a store nearby the Hackensack location and saw that they were newly opened so I placed an order. I was expecting the usual 25-30 min wait but thought something must be wrong after the 45 minute mark. Especially since everyone else had come and gone. When I asked the cashier her response was a sound / word that sounded like "ehhh." I finally got my food after 50 minutes. There was no apology or offer of any small service item to at least make me feel better. The chicken was not as crispy light as usual and the spicy even had soft chewy skin which Korean fried chicken doesn't usually have. I usually don't even write bad reviews but this was upsetting. I hope this was just because they're new but I don't think I'll be coming back to this location. read more

Got takeout a couple weeks ago and I had been to three different Bonchon locations in California prior to this so I had some high expectations. I'm glad to say that it was just as good as I had hoped! The chicken had the perfect amount of crispiness and the level of spice for the spicy wings were perfect. To describe it, I would probably say its approx. 7x the level of hot cheetos. Its nice to order half and half spicy and soy garlic to balance out the flavors. The takoyaki was pretty good too. The octopus was a little overcooked but the flavors were pretty on point. The bubble tea was something that I wanted to try, as it's a new thing that wasnt offered when I used to live in California. Sadly it wasn't very good. I got the Black Milk Tea and it was overpoweringly sugary, which I should have asked for less sweetness in hindsight, as I usually get 30-50% sugar when I order bubble tea in Kungfu Tea and Sharetea etc. And the pearls were so soft they practically melted into the drink. Overall, I would go here for the chicken and the takoyaki but definitely not for the bubble tea. read more

I usually have Bonchon in Manhattan Koreatown but it has been years since I have had it. I was shopping at the supermarket in the complex and saw this Bonchon. I placed an order for the medium bone-in soy garlic wings. The price was a bit steep. The chicken was sufficiently crispy but I thought the sauce tasted a tad bit on the strong garlic side. Overall, it was still OK and satisfied my craving. The service was quick. The cashier wasn't too friendly but answered my question about the sign they had posted about their new BBQ sauce. read more

I'm a fan of Korean fried chicken. Have tried Boom Boom and other privately-owned shops, but I think Bonchon is the better 'chain' Korean fried chicken. They also have other Korean/Asian Fusion options like rice/noodle bowls, katsu, potstickers, calamari, etc. As far as the chicken goes, I go for soy-garlic wings. There have been reviews for other Bonchon locations that say the wings are small. I don't feel that they are. I also get their seasoned fries that come with a spicy mayo dip. Once you've tried Korean-style fried chicken and how crispy & crunchy the skin is, it's hard to go back to regular wings. Good job Bonchon! Glad to see you guys opening more locations! read more

Look at these wings!! This location is my go to chicken shop, their chicken is always high quality and the soy garlic flavor is my favorite flavor. I recommend getting their popcorn shrimp as well, it's delicious dipped in the spicy mayo sauce. The staff is very nice, they always greet me at the door! read more

You didnt listen to me when i said just rice and egg. I'm done coming here last time it was a problem you didn't hear me the first time the last time about two orders that you only gave me one. I ordered food to go during COVID. I had to bring my 5 month baby to pick up the food. When we got there, they said that I cancelled my order. I was like "No I didn't. I drove 20 minutes to get here. Now that I'm here, you're saying you don't have my order?" She said "We'll put the order in now." I asked if I can speak with a manager to get a discount or comped meal for their mistake. She said she is the manager and I have to pay full price & wait for the food. The fact that she failed to please the upset customer then didn't reimburse us shows horrible customer service. I've been in the food industry & worked for many restaurants before. I know how the system works. We order from them all the time. They just lost our business. Never again... smdh read more

Not all Bonchons are created equal! Super disappointed with the Hackensack location. Ok..."soft opening" you say but the fundamental item needs to be cooked and seasoned properly. Do not order here when it's crazy busy if you're a hardcore Korean fried chicken fan. Vast amounts of orders forces them to cook their chicken like any other fried chicken place instead of the traditional double fry method meaning you won't get that awesome crispiness which can be found at the fort lee or Leonia location. read more

But... with 4 other area Bonchon locations to compare (NJ and NYC), these wings were the smallest and driest by far. And the promotion of the day was Free special sauce with every order. I ordered through their website, curbside pickup, super easy, but when I got home... no sauce. There had been no field in the ordering to ask for it, so I assumed everyone would get it. If you advertise a special for the day "with every order" it should just be in the bag. I write this review in the hopes that this location will up their game because I do want to return! Ordered two lunch specials. Combo wings and drums were incredibly sauce-less. Only the tops had sauce, flipping the pieces had no sauce. The strips were so dry and sauce-less as well and tasted like they were re-frief from yesterday leftovers. Last time I ordered pick-up they forgot an entire order. Today, I ordered Bulgogi sliders, they gave me Bulgogi. When I called to explain what happened, the young lady asked me if I was sure I received the Bulgogi instead of the sliders. "Yes, I am sure." The manager comes on and tell me that the Bulgogi is $19.50 and more expensive than the sliders, followed by a pause. At which point, I had to to request a refund. This entire conversation took 5mins as he asked, repeatedly, which order it is they got wrong. Food is good. I first went to Bon Chon in Boston and quickly became a fan. I was delighted to hear that they opened this location close to my home, especially during this virus. I ordered a 10 piece wings order, half spicy and half soy garlic and was not disappointed. The wings were exactly what I wanted - crispy, juicy and the perfect amount of sauce. I have been here a couple of times. In the past it was good, but my last visit was very disappointing. The wings were smaller, and they didn't give me both sides of the chicken wings. The carton was mostly flatter pieces. The prices were very high and not worth what I paid. In my opinion, they are trying to cut costs and raise prices at the same time. I love bonchon but honestly I'll drive the extra distance to go to another location because the employees here are just so unfriendly. They always seem annoyed when simple questions are asked and always look mad which us buying 100 wings everytime we go there should not be like that. Bonchon is my favorite restaurant. I love chicken wings and there is no place that has beat these ones. This location has exceeded my expectations, both in terms of quality and customer service. They are incredibly friendly and give us top notch service despite the virus. Everyone should buy chicken from here. Unfortunately I have to write this one star review. Today I went to pick up my order which was called in 45 minutes before hand. When I got there the women at the front said it would be one minute. After 10 minutes she tells me she gave my order to another person. She then remade the whole order that took another 20 minutes. I love Bonchon but I will never order from here again. This was the worst bonchon I had. I got the medium wings half soy half spicy. The chicken was not crunchy and the sauces were barely on the wings, it lacked flavor and crunch. This is amazing it is super yummy. The chicken is so moist and the sauces are bomb. We need to go there more often.

My friends and I hadn't dined in a bonchon location ever since the pandemic started, and they did not disappoint! The service was great and they were very COVID safe.
