Haven't been here in a while seems like they added new items and changed the menu. The interior still looks the same. The servers were super friendly. They were twins and they were both super humorous. Although the wings and the fries were good, I was kind of disappointed with my chickens sandwich. It was just two very sad and tiny looking tenders between buns. :(
Never had Bonchon before!! Was a pretty good experience and also has a lunch special from 11am-3pm. Which was a pretty good bang for our buck. Fried chicken was cooked amazing and tastes like how Korean bbq chicken should be. It was my first time trying it in Chicago and definitely a place worth coming back to!
The food was exceptional! - The Seoul-licious! -Savory, lightly sweet with a subtle tanginess. -YANGNYEOM Sweet with a kick! The traditional Korean favors were deep fried to perfection. Our server was very help with food selection options. Cute & quaint!
Cheese Pork katsu sandwich - [ ] Very crunchy, coleslaw was a nice addition and the fries come in a very generous amount. Chicken Katsu - [ ] Very good on the topping (sauce), a large fried chicken cutlet but unfortunately not too crispy. The taste was very standard and while did not blow me away with flavor, size and presentation sure did. Bolgolgi fries - [ ] The fires came in a large and very generous quantity. The spicy mayo topping and the bolgolgi on top of the salt and pepper seasoned fries was a good addition. Not too much of a surprise in terms of flavor, very standard but for sure worth the money! Seafood fried rice - [ ] The fried rice was very good and honestly had a lot of oil, but what else do I expect from fried rice? The small shrimps was a nice addition and while it was called seafood, the only seafood were the small shrimps, I wonder if oyster sauce was used, it would make it a little more deserving of the seafood title. Over all very flavorful and again a very generous amount of fried rice and shrimp. 10 wings 5 drums Half soy half kbbq - [ ] The Garlic Soy was the flavor champion in this fight, unfortunately the Korean BBQ had a bigger soy taste which was unfortunate but still very flavorful to say the least. - [ ] The chicken was supremely crispy and it was very easy all the pieces oh Wings and Drums without hesitation. Fried chicken bao buns - [ ] These buns were the best dish we tried throughout the dinner. By far the best. - [ ] The bun was extremely soft and the chicken was very flavorful and extremely crunchy. Mixing those two with a very delicious coleslaw and the cucumber were flavors that worked to well together. The cucumber and chicken crunch did not fight each other but complimented one another. This is definitely worth every single cent that was spent on them, and yes, only 3 is enough for leave you wanting even more. Overall the service was a little slow but admittedly it was extremely busy. The wait was about 20 minutes but the wait was for sure worth it!
So the first thing you notice when walking in is the beautiful ambiance, very nice setting.. very clean. The service was immediate and the food came out very fast. I got the 10 pc original and another flavor I forgot the name lol. I also got the loaded fries. Fries came out lukewarm.. weren't anything special at all but they were good. Chicken was okay also not anything special. Overpriced.
Was in the mood for bulgogi and came across Bonchan via DoorDash; they have 4.5 stars w/ 1K+ reviews so my expectations were high! I ordered the bulgogi w/ the clear noodles, a side of extra bulgogi meat, and a side of kimchi. The picture shows that the noodles clump together so reheated in the microwave but didn't really make a difference. It's not seasoned very well so I added garlic and onion powder. Eating w/ kimchi definitely helped add flavor; however, there was no spice to the kimchi. All in all, if you're hungry and out and about and hungry I would say go eat but for delivery of bulgogi not so much.
My son loves fried chicken so while in Chinatown, of course, we had to give it a try! The establishment was very modern compared to some of the places we have visited and Chinatown. It had a very commercial feel so I was concerned that the food wouldn't be so great, but it was really good. I loved the crispy texture of the fried chicken. We try the garlic as well as the Korean barbecue. We were split between which was our favorite. I would love to try the chicken without any sauce at all because I just love the crunch that it has. Our chicken came with pickled radish and I really love the freshness of that. We also had shrimp shumai. It was my first time trying this dish. It was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again but I would definitely come back to this place for the crispy fried chicken!
Great spot after a day of walking around and hanging out in Chinatown. Joined the waitlist and was seat in 10 mins. We ordered family style and had a ball. Service was great for a place that was very busy with online orders, pickups, and sit down service. I noticed they got very busy around 6PM so definitely join the waitlist early if you want to eat here.

Casual spot in Chicago's Chinatown to grab Korean Fried Chicken. The place is quite small so you might have to wait a bit to get a table. If you come, definitely get soy garlic. Chicken is always crispy and filling. Wouldn't recommend other dishes as they can lack flavor but the restaurant name says it all; chicken is their speciality so you must get that. Staff is always super attentive too!
Everything you imagine fried chicken to be; crispy, crunchy and juicy with a Korean twist. Double fried chicken with a sauce that's brushed on after cooking. There were people sitting and enjoying food inside. There were also several to-go orders being picked up. We were greeted, asked if we were dining in and handed a menu. I must say, the aromas had my belly dancing. We sat and looked over the menu. Decided on wings and mixed up the sauces. Not really in the mood for spicy, so we opted for 1/2 Korean BBQ and 1/2 soy garlic. Coleslaw was our side choice. It was about ten minutes before hot food came out. As we walked back to the parking lot, the smell of Korean fried chicken escaped the bag. I wanted to plop down anywhere and try one of those wings. I waited till I was home and enjoyed it with hubby. Yes!!!! It's all the rage!!!! Soy garlic was my favorite. I have to be in the mood for spicy but, I do plan to try it.

Didn't have to wait for a table. -Chicken wings half soy garlic half spicy 5 - spicy had a good amount of heat surprisingly but I really loved the soy garlic. The chicken in general was not overcooked or hard. Skin was crispy and meat was moist. -takoyaki 4 - not bad. Good price. Octopus cooked well. -japchae 4 - surprised this costs more than the chicken katsu. Good quality but the price is a bit too much. -pork buns 4 - good portion but the pricing is as much as the standard entrees. -chicken katsu 5 - generous portion for the price. Perfect for sharing. Chicken was crunchy. Sauce was savory.

They were quite busy since it was the day of the BTS concert. Staff was friendly. We came here because we are a fan of their location in California. We usually get boneless Korean fried chicken. Soy garlic is our fav sauce. The shape was different than the place in California. This reminds me of chicken nugget shape. It could have used more sauce on it. We were used to the bigger flatter shape. Are the strips boneless? Maybe in Cali we got the strips if they are boneless. read more

It's a casual spot so I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but this was the driest Bonchon I've been to. The fried chicken barely had any sauce on it, which was surprising since that's kind of the whole point. The pickled radishes also tasted a little off. Service wasn't great either, our waiter talked really low and fast so it was hard to understand him. The music was good, just a bit loud at times. read more

first time in chinatown and there's a lot to see. have tried this place before but obviously not in chinatown. there was about a 15 minute wait before we got seated. there was no distinct oil smell inside this restaurant either unlike the others. we got the chicken katsu, fried chicken korean tacos and the chicken bibimbop. everything tasted good id use some more seasoning for the katsu. the bowl is def worth it. service was nice and were very helpful. read more
Bonchon is the perfect place for a quick lunch! This is the first time I've been here and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd highly recommend the Korean fried chicken, loaded fries and the dumplings! All 3 items tasted great and had just enough spice to get ya going. I also want to make note that the flavor combinations were fantastic. Everything was really flavorful and each had a very different / unique flavor. I can tell that they really pay attention to what they are seasoning their food with. The team who works there was also very nice. Everyone we encountered was pretty chill and just very hospitable. I'd like to come back here to try more items on the menu! read more

Good food and it's so quick! If you're hungry and need food fast this is the spot for you! Staff was very quick and accommodating but be warned the menu even if it says all wings it's not. They'll use the other side of wing and call it a wing. So if you order 10 pc wing, it means you get 5 wings and 5 pc of the other side looking like a drumstick. It's fine but wished they would've told us that! Nevertheless it was all delicious. read more

If you're ever in the mood for some fried chicken that doesn't make you feel bad about yourself after you're done, definitely come here! I will warn you - this place gets crowded FAST. If you're looking for good food but can manage dealing with enclosed spaces, this wouldn't bother you at all. My husband and I shared a medium combo of wings/drums with a side of rice; it also comes with pickled radish. We sometimes will only go to Chinatown because we're craving this! I recently tried this place and they did not disappoint! The fried rice was spicy and very tasteful! I enjoy the chicken katsu as well, the sauce is bomb! The service was very friendly and quick! The ambiance is very nice I love the inside is homely feeling and it's the center of China town so I'm sure during summer days it's a great spot to people watch! I really wanted that Korean fried chicken! It looked and smelled so good, but we didn't have time to wait for it to be cooked. So instead we ordered the pork bao buns. The bun was super soft and the filling was good. I liked that they come with three to an order. I was with two other people, so we could each have one. I will definitely be back to try that crispy chicken goodness! read more

Had to give this place a try after hearing so much about it. Let's say they did not disappoint! We did arrive during a busy Saturday night but waited no longer than 15mins for our table. My team and I ordered from their lunch special menu today. One colleague and I ordered the 10-piece boneless chicken, with the half-n-half sauce (half soy garlic and half spicy). My side was coleslaw, while she had the fries. Another colleague ordered her wings all spicy and with fries. One colleague mentioned how she did not feel that Bonchon did their best today because our chicken pieces were not covered adequately with the sauce. The chicken was crunchy and we could still taste the soy garlic, and the spicy, was still very much hot. Fries are good, but the coleslaw was okay. Despite the lack of sauce on our chicken, this won't deter us from ordering our lunch from here again. read more
