K-Chicken Sandwich

Haven't been here in a while seems like they added new items and changed the menu. The interior still looks the same. The servers were super friendly. They were twins and they were both super humorous. Although the wings and the fries were good, I was kind of disappointed with my chickens sandwich. It was just two very sad and tiny looking tenders between buns. :(

We used love bonchon on our weekly takeout rotation but somehow the last few times the taste and quality didn't seem the same . My kids haven't asked to go back Ina while now . Hopefully we have some new items on the menu

Never had Bonchon before!! Was a pretty good experience and also has a lunch special from 11am-3pm. Which was a pretty good bang for our buck. Fried chicken was cooked amazing and tastes like how Korean bbq chicken should be. It was my first time trying it in Chicago and definitely a place worth coming back to!

The food was exceptional! - The Seoul-licious! -Savory, lightly sweet with a subtle tanginess. -YANGNYEOM Sweet with a kick! The traditional Korean favors were deep fried to perfection. Our server was very help with food selection options. Cute & quaint!

Was in the mood for bulgogi and came across Bonchan via DoorDash; they have 4.5 stars w/ 1K+ reviews so my expectations were high! I ordered the bulgogi w/ the clear noodles, a side of extra bulgogi meat, and a side of kimchi. The picture shows that the noodles clump together so reheated in the microwave but didn't really make a difference. It's not seasoned very well so I added garlic and onion powder. Eating w/ kimchi definitely helped add flavor; however, there was no spice to the kimchi. All in all, if you're hungry and out and about and hungry I would say go eat but for delivery of bulgogi not so much.

Korean fried Chicken.... Korean BBQ flavor and garlic flavor.

My son loves fried chicken so while in Chinatown, of course, we had to give it a try! The establishment was very modern compared to some of the places we have visited and Chinatown. It had a very commercial feel so I was concerned that the food wouldn't be so great, but it was really good. I loved the crispy texture of the fried chicken. We try the garlic as well as the Korean barbecue. We were split between which was our favorite. I would love to try the chicken without any sauce at all because I just love the crunch that it has. Our chicken came with pickled radish and I really love the freshness of that. We also had shrimp shumai. It was my first time trying this dish. It was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again but I would definitely come back to this place for the crispy fried chicken!

Great spot after a day of walking around and hanging out in Chinatown. Joined the waitlist and was seat in 10 mins. We ordered family style and had a ball. Service was great for a place that was very busy with online orders, pickups, and sit down service. I noticed they got very busy around 6PM so definitely join the waitlist early if you want to eat here.

Came here for dinner a few weeks back for the first time and had a great experience. Staff was attentive and food was delicious. The beef bulgogi was the best I've ever had! We ordered a variety of things and really enjoyed everything tbh. I'd def come back next time I visit china town!

Casual spot in Chicago's Chinatown to grab Korean Fried Chicken. The place is quite small so you might have to wait a bit to get a table. If you come, definitely get soy garlic. Chicken is always crispy and filling. Wouldn't recommend other dishes as they can lack flavor but the restaurant name says it all; chicken is their speciality so you must get that. Staff is always super attentive too!

Everything you imagine fried chicken to be; crispy, crunchy and juicy with a Korean twist. Double fried chicken with a sauce that's brushed on after cooking. There were people sitting and enjoying food inside. There were also several to-go orders being picked up. We were greeted, asked if we were dining in and handed a menu. I must say, the aromas had my belly dancing. We sat and looked over the menu. Decided on wings and mixed up the sauces. Not really in the mood for spicy, so we opted for 1/2 Korean BBQ and 1/2 soy garlic. Coleslaw was our side choice. It was about ten minutes before hot food came out. As we walked back to the parking lot, the smell of Korean fried chicken escaped the bag. I wanted to plop down anywhere and try one of those wings. I waited till I was home and enjoyed it with hubby. Yes!!!! It's all the rage!!!! Soy garlic was my favorite. I have to be in the mood for spicy but, I do plan to try it.

first time in chinatown and there's a lot to see. have tried this place before but obviously not in chinatown. there was about a 15 minute wait before we got seated. there was no distinct oil smell inside this restaurant either unlike the others. we got the chicken katsu, fried chicken korean tacos and the chicken bibimbop. everything tasted good id use some more seasoning for the katsu. the bowl is def worth it. service was nice and were very helpful.

So the first thing you notice when walking in is the beautiful ambiance, very nice setting.. very clean. The service was immediate and the food came out very fast. I got the 10 pc original and another flavor I forgot the name lol. I also got the loaded fries. Fries came out lukewarm.. weren't anything special at all but they were good. Chicken was okay also not anything special. Overpriced.

This was my first time trying Bonchon. I decided to try the location in Chinatown. There were four of us so we were able to try many items. Service was okay, not fantastic. Ample seating. Didn't have to wait for a table. -Chicken wings half soy garlic half spicy 5 - spicy had a good amount of heat surprisingly but I really loved the soy garlic. The chicken in general was not overcooked or hard. Skin was crispy and meat was moist. -takoyaki 4 - not bad. Good price. Octopus cooked well. -japchae 4 - surprised this costs more than the chicken katsu. Good quality but the price is a bit too much. -pork buns 4 - good portion but the pricing is as much as the standard entrees. -chicken katsu 5 - generous portion for the price. Perfect for sharing. Chicken was crunchy. Sauce was savory.

Chicken had little to no flavor. Fried very crispy just lacked flavor. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side.

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant. Ema, what happened to you?!

The atmosphere is genuinely pleasant -- bright, clean, and stylish without trying too hard -- but the food just doesn't live up to the setting.
