One of my favorite Thai restaurants on Taylor street! I personally love the pad see ewe and the curry fish cake appetizer and that's my go to. Today I tried a new one- yellow curry with chicken and It was soo good! Balanced curry flavor with a hint of sweetness possible from coconut milk? I also got the mango sticky rice cause they're in season. Mango was so sweet and soft, and the sticky rice with coconut milk was perfect. My coworker got a pad Thai and she loved it! Thai food is my favorite! I found this place near the hotel I was staying. I got the coconut soup with chicken and pad see ew. The lady that served me was so sweet. I assume she is an owner. My school cater Yummy Thai all the time since its cheaper but the food isn't good so people told me Golden Thai is better. While this is true, it wasn't by much. I ordered the crab rangoon, papaya salad, and the curry noodles. the first two were fine, nothing wrong but also hard to mess those up. Since I got take out, the crispy noodles on top were a bit soggy which I accepted since I knew that would happen. However, the issue was the other noodles were too mushy, felt like they were over cooked. The curry sauce was also way too sweet. This is a hidden gem. And the only restaurant that I know of that makes crispy pad see ew. Think of pad see ew, but the noodles are deep fried first before being tossed in the savory soy-based sauce. The noodles are shatteringly crisp on the inside, and slightly softened from the sauce. Completely addictive. They also have fantastic spring rolls that are made with shrimp, chicken, and mint. read more

I felt a bit adventurous one day and decided to walk a bit further down Taylor St. to eventually make it to Golden Thai, a cute, one-stop shop for all your Thai cuisine goodness. I figured, why not try something different today while still getting the same sweet, stir-fried flat noodles that I absolutely adored? The pickup order I placed took about 20 minutes to prepare, likely due to their smaller staffing and desire to make the sure the food was prepared well. The quality of the noodles was good! Although a bit cold after it made its way back home, I really enjoyed the flat noodles and tender beef that made up my dish. The crispy part was certainly interesting making it a bit chewier than normal. If I could go back, I'd settle for the regular style of pad see ew, but it doesn't make this any less tasty. Portion size was decent but felt small given the amount you paid. Good prices, good food, and overall good service. Golden Thai passes as one of my now go-to spots for Thai in the area. read more

We ordered about 8-9 dishes for 52.00. What I loved most was the crab Rangoon because in a lot of places it's frozen then fried. I was really looking forward to trying good Thai food in Chicago. This was my friend's go-to spot while in college so I decided to give it a try. It's definitely a casual spot for quick Thai food. The inside is a decent size with some cute decor. When we walked in around 3pm on a Wednesday it was completely empty. We ordered Pad Kee Mao with tofu and Green Curry with veggies. The food came out promptly and was piping hot, but it definitely lacked in taste. The Pad Kee Mai noodles were extremely soft to a point where they felt slimy and mushy. For medium spicy level, it was pretty darn spicy but still not flavorful. Same with the green curry. It had a sweet taste to it and was spicy but was too watery. Love this little place. Lived in CA for years where you could get amazing Thai food. Since moving to the Chicago burbs I've been really disappointed in nearly all the Thai food I've had. This was the first Thai food (other than one other meal) on four years in the Chicago area that I thought rivaled my CA favorite. I loved the chicken satay, yellow curry, and larb. Will definitely be back. I like this place because they stick with the basics / classics and don't go too much into "fusion" thai etc. Place is cute and lady who served me was very nice. UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW - my only complaint is about spice levels specifically the Larb. "Mild" is zero spice and "medium" is pretty hot. They need something in between. I think they need to add a touch more heat to the mild larb, or else offer a "no spice" version and a mild version that is a bit hotter than what they currently offer. read more

LOVED this place! My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday night. We were able to find street parking right in front of the restaurant. We ordered the crab rangoon, beef pad Thai with a medium spice level, and the red curry with chicken with the medium spice level as well. The crab Rangoon was fresh and the balance between cream cheese, crab, and onions was good! At first we thought the medium spice level wasn't spicy, but the more we ate we realized the spice was definitely there! It was subtle but made our food more enjoyable. I think we would have been able to handle the spicy level though! The pad Thai was really good. Not too saucy and not too dry. I loved the red curry! The vegetables weren't over cooked and it was a really good portion. The restaurant seemed more busy with take out orders than people actually in the restaurant so that says something about how great their food is! Overall, I would really recommend this restaurant for authentic Thai food. Great location, easy parking, friendly service, and good food! read more

Used to come to this place very often, since I work in the medical district. Today, I placed a phone order for pick up and the woman who answered the phone insisted on changing my order. I said basil fried rice she said basil and chicken. I tried to correct her but there seemed to be a language barrier. When I called to inform them about the error she was so rude and even yelled at me. No accountability at all. The customer service is beyond horrible. What a shame. read more
