My nail tech was going back and forth between my gel manicure and finishing up another customer's pedicure. He did offer me water or wine, which was nice. This location is a bit understaffed. My gel manicure came out okay. There was a bit of flooding on the side of my nail beds. Also, it did seem a bit rushed. For instance, he did not really take the time to massage my hand afterwards. It was not a bad experience, but I have had better at other nail salons. They do have a parking lot out front as well.

My new tech couldn't even remove the last 2 nails I had on I've had them on since march and I just got done getting the last 2 off which was extremely painful. My nail technician, Jocelyn, was kind and did her best. Unfortunately, what I witnessed during my appointment completely overshadowed the experience. A friend and I visited Blue Sky Nails & Spa during a long layover from Baltimore Airport. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming host and then directed to the pedicure area in the back. Everything started off well. My nail technician was Jocelyn, and my friend's technician was Mimi. Jocelyn had already been working on my service for about 15 minutes when Mimi arrived to begin my friend's appointment. What happened next made both my friend and me extremely uncomfortable. Jocelyn had positioned her cart in a spot that wasn't bothering anyone and wasn't interfering with another guest receiving a pedicure. Instead of politely asking for space or moving her own cart, Mimi forcefully bumped Jocelyn's cart and told her to move. What followed felt less like a workplace disagreement and more like bullying. The interaction continued in front of customers, creating a very awkward environment. To her credit, Jocelyn remained professional and focused on her work. She stayed quiet for most of the exchange and simply explained that the behavior was inappropriate in front of guests. Eventually the situation settled down, but the tension remained for the rest of our services. I don't know the history between these two employees, and frankly, that's none of my business. What I do know is that customers should never be made part of workplace conflict. My friend and I were both uncomfortable, and at one point I genuinely wanted to stand up for Jocelyn because the situation felt unfair and unnecessary. As for the pedicure itself, it was good overall. Unfortunately my gel polish started lifting and peeling less than a week later. I appreciate that many people have had great experiences here, but this was ours. It was disappointing, especially because I brought a friend there after a long flight hoping we could relax and enjoy ourselves. My hope is that Blue Sky Nails & Spa creates a more supportive and professional environment for its staff because what I witnessed that day was not something customers should have to see. When we got there, we were greeted by the receptionist, and it was relatively empty in there. We had both booked for gel nails and then picked out our colors. Their prices were more than what was indicated online, so it was $40 for gel and then an additional $15 for catseye polish (note they do not have the magnets for designs, so it's just plain catseye). This was done on our natural nails. My experience went relatively smoothly and very quickly. I had Tina, who completed within 20 minutes of starting, but I'm thinking that may not have been a good thing. My gel nails usually last for 2 weeks or so without chipping or peeling off, but these were chipping by day 5 and about a week in, one had peeled so badly that my nail snapped in half. My friend was not started on til i was almost done. Her nail tech switched halfway through as well, and another nail tech came by and made rude remarks about her hands twice, saying that the nail design she wanted would look ugly on her. The nail polish needed another color to help it show up the way it looked on the display/bottle, and there was a lot of back and forth trying to get that right. In the end, they were able to figure out a way to get it to look right, but that added an extra 40 minutes to her nails. The receptionist was great and helped advocate for her to get the correct shade. I like the convenience of having a nail salon within walking distance, but I think I'll stick with my usual unless these things change. It's not worth the money for early chipping and rude remarks.

My sister didn't mind, so she went ahead with it. When Nina sat me down, she handed me the menu and I chose the Deluxe pedi (highly recommend!) My sister, who was still waiting, asked what I picked, and Nina offered her the same menu. She chose the Deluxe as well. When her tech returned and Nina let her know about the upgrade, the tech visibly seemed annoyed. She tossed her tools down and adjusted her setup with clear frustration. It made both of us uncomfortable, and we almost rescheduled, but my sister had driven 45 minutes to come get her nails done. In the end, my sister liked her nails and the design, and she said the tech was nice overall, but that moment definitely affected the experience. I'm only removing one star because of that interaction, and I do wish the salon offered complimentary drinks like many others do.
