Mabel and I chatted as if we had known each other forever, and I truly enjoyed my time with her. She was sweet and kind and even offered some recommendations for great places in the area where I could spend time while waiting for my son to finish camp. After the acrylic set was started, I immediately noticed the application was incorrect. Because the salon was close to closing, I was encouraged to just continue with the service anyway. I declined the pedicure and questioned the quality of the acrylic application. Instead of addressing the concern professionally, I was initially gaslighted and told everything was fine. Once the technician realized I understood how the service should actually be performed, the situation suddenly shifted. I was offered a large discount and asked not to contact management because he said he would "get in trouble." That moment made me extremely uncomfortable. As an African American woman, situations like this can feel particularly unsettling because we are often dismissed or made to feel like we are being "difficult" for simply asking for the service we paid for to be done correctly. At that point, I just wanted to make it home safely and avoid unnecessary conflict. Even though I was uncomfortable and unsatisfied with my service, I still paid and tipped in order to de-escalate the situation and leave peacefully. It has now been roughly three weeks, and the acrylic set still has not properly cured, which raises serious concerns about the quality of the products or application used. I hope this review encourages management to improve both the quality of their services and the way customer concerns are handled.
