Now im not a very picky person, I mainly get my nails done occasionally, but I do know when something isnt right. But recently I just wanted to get it done for the fun of it. When I looked at the reviews it had 3.5 stars, so I thought why not?! And it was about 35 for the nails and the guy who answered was generous. But sadly, thats the only thing thats keeping them strong. I set up an appointment and said I wanted a regular full set acrylic. Thank god im attentive, because he gave me gel colors instead of acrylic. And I know what your thinking, whats the difference?! Well, had I choose a gel color, he would have gave me the gel set without telling me which is 45$. He was aware I wanted a full set acrylic, I made it clear multiple times and we agreed on the price, but he was trying to trick me into getting gel instead of regular acrylic and had i not looked he would have set me up into getting that without telling me, when I made it fully aware on the phone and in person I wanted a regular. (Ive had this done to me before theyll have you choose a color thats only for gel to see if your smart enough to pay attention, ive ended up having to pay 50$ at one point for something i did not ask for when they were aware I wanted an acrylic)They didnt really have a wide variety of colors, so he basically chooses a color from the dip I had asked for and just makes it works i guess? I was thankful, but when he started the nail thats when things took a turn for the worse. He rushed my nails and you can tell so he could keep up with all the customers. He did not cut my natural nails down to add the acrylic, so now, the nail is basically peeling off. And I, a regular customer, shouldnt have to explain to a NAIL tech whats wrong with my nails. He was aware, if anything, when he made a mistake he would look up to see if i noticed, i didnt say anything because I wanted to see what HE would do. He acted as if nothing happened. He ignored the mistakes he did with my nails and took my silence for weakness. You see their aware of when they mess up and know they can do better, but they figure if you dont say anything it wouldnt matter. And I wouldnt be too trusting of a nail tech that is this sneaky, and I wouldnt want to go to a nail tech that treats its customers like gullible children. My nails were cut so short you wouldnt even know it wasnt mine. And they were cut badly, both of my thumbs are slanted like a landslide. This is ridiculous. And the nails are already starting to come off, I got these done a week ago and their already bad. It at least takes 2 1/5 weeks for nails to even start getting bad. every single nail is a different shape and size. I got one almond nail, one straight nail, and one coffin that i didnt even ask for, he just did it any type of way. And before my nails even dried he pressed me into paying early. I think it's because he knew once i seen them i wouldnt wanna pay for it. That was the worst most unprofessional nail job I've ever received. The only thing that saved them, was the fact that he was nice, had it not been for their positive attitude they would have been a one star. One of the nails on my fingers doesnt even fit the size of my natural nail. I understand that its hard with these pandemics to keep up with business, but any customer prefers quality over quantity. They would rather prefer their nails to be presentable and done, then just have them any type of way. People do not get their nails done to just have them there, it's because its supposed to make them look presentable. But how long would customers even keep coming if you cant even do a well enough job. A positive attitude is a good trait but its not everything. You need to do better, the guys who did my nails. You need to stop rushing, You need to take your time and make the nails look presentable. read more

I got my first-ever pedicure here a couple days ago! After researching for a bit, I saw a couple of reviewers on this page saying they got a great one for only $20, which is what attracted me initially. Predictably, the prices have gone up in the past 6 years, so I was informed that the lowest pedicure package from My Nail was $30. That's the lowest price I can find anywhere, so I thought... why not? My friend and I called ahead to confirm there was room for us both - when we arrived, there was only one other customer. We were escorted to massage chairs and seated. Both of our technicians asked us if the water was too hot and made sure we were comfortable throughout the service. My friend and I both chose the same $30 basic package. The experience was very relaxing overall (which is inherent to a pedicure, after all). I selected a light blue color polish and my friend just got a clear coat. The service included a soak, dead skin removal, hot towel, lotion, clipping/filing, sugar scrub on the legs and feet, and painting. We were done in about 30 minutes, and then I waited for about 10 more minutes in the waiting area with a tiny fan blowing on my freshly-painted nails. The only thing that threw me off was my male friend's nail tech charging $35 for some reason while mine was only $30. We both asked for the same package! A minor comment I have is that my feet don't feel as fresh and soft as I had expected. Again, I don't know the ins and outs of pedicures, but I feel like more dead skin could have been taken off my feet because they still feel pretty hard. The paint job is probably better than I could have done at home, though, and my nails are well-trimmed. Overall, my friend and I had a satisfactory first pedicure experience aside from the pricing confusion. Nothing spectacular, but nothing stopping us from coming again. read more

It's a hit or miss here, it honestly depends on who you get. I've been coming here on and off for about 3 years and my last few experiences have been poor. The work is sub par. Got a pedicure today and the sides are rough, nails cut too short, bubbles in the polish, poor cuticle work- looks like I did it myself at home....in a rush. I am not happy and will not be going back! Also the staff are family/friends and take twice as long to finish a basic mani or pedi because they are too busy laughing and making jokes with each other, stopping in the middle to point and laugh. Bottom line, the people here are really, really nice but my experience was "meh." My sister and I came here for a respite from the rushed and sometimes RUDE service at Ahhh Nails across the street (they make fun of my nubby toenails :[ ), so the friendly and immediate service was awesome. I really enjoyed my pedicure; the technician took her time and my feet were so soft afterwards. She even did her best to paint a little bit over the nail and onto the skin of my tiny, stubby toenails to make them look longer which I appreciate. The paint has stayed on too, so my feet look normal! The "meh" part of this friendly little salon is my nails. I requested gel tips with a gel polish; I believe i received acrylic nails, and the gel manicure hasn't been holding up at all. It chipped on the very first day; I fixed it by cutting a bit off the tip of my nail and filing it, but still. Also, the nails do not look anything close to natural up close. They're "bubbly" and come up off the sides. From far away they look fine but when I look at them up close I am a bit disappointed. Although this salon isn't the prettiest in town with the best amenities, the service is great and I will most likely be back for a pedicure. read more

Came here on a Sunday since I couldn't see my regular nail tech...got a fill in. The staff is very nice & give you a cold bottled water when you enter. The prices are cheaper than normal. I have been going to this salon for about 2 years and the last couple of times I have been haven't been up to par. The last couple of times they haven't been shaping my nails well, especially the youngest as well as oldest technicians. I've also noticed that they don't all speak English well, not their fault it can just make it difficult for customer service. In the beginning they were more personable. Have been to this salon 3 or 4 times. I always go to the same technician because her work is excellent. A man did my services once and cut me three times on the cuticles. Laughing and talking does not add to my desire to spend some quiet time for myself, but have had this happen in other establishments and try to tune it out. I have a disability with walking so being able to park close to the entry and only go up one step is very helpful. Salon is clean, and employees are gracious. Color choices are excellent, and prices are affordable (I am retired). Plan to go back again soon. read more

I really liked this place. If I wasn't moving, I would continue to get my fill ins and pedicures here. The lot is pretty small and so is the salon. Even though it's small, I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be serviced. They are very clean from what I've seen, and have a decent array of colors to choose from. Their prices are reasonable; it's hard to get a decent pedicure for $20 but they do a good job. They also give complimentary bottles of water to the customers, which I've never experienced before. They wait was short which is a plus but the work was sub par. I came in for a fill in and gel polish. The guy who did my nails seemed rushed. Didn't fully take off all the bright red previous gel before starting the fill in. This left spots of red throughout the nail which could be seen through the new polish since I went light pink this time. Also, paint was uneven and streaky. Price was somewhat high ($30) relative to other places in the neighborhood and for quality of work. As my nails grew out, edges were rough because he painted right up to the cuticle. This led to separation on two fingers and I ended up having to go in to a different store to have it fixed within a week. I will not be returning. For the money, there are better places around. I was in the neighborhood w time to kill and a need for a fresh set of gel color w matching toes. Having been a long time resident of the Catonsville area I knew what salons NOT to try and I yelped up a couple of decent options -- albeit how can you go wrong w gel polish? (enter moment of silence for my naïveté) My Nail had solid reviews and in one of the customer pics I even noticed a price list that showed reasonable prices -- I was certain I would experience adequate services. It all started nicely, a couple of teens chatted me up about which majors they're interested in pursuing in their undergrad years to come while getting me started with a gel polish removal foil set, that sort of thing. Abruptly the nail tech from hell crashed the party, asking if I'd picked out a gel color, of course I hadn't --I was busy exchanging lip service w my new friends. She motioned for me to go to a pedicure station so she could get me started w my polish change. She removed most but def not all of my polish (I mentioned this but she kept on going w the base coat and polish as if she didn't hear me-- I thought to myself maybe I was seeing things and brushed it off) the color looked nice but there was the stray paint on the skin of my toes, I asked her to clean it up when she motioned for me to move to a manicure station, she looked closer where I pointed out the stray polish then walked away, without a word ...to me. She then begins what seemed like a tirade of Vietnamese cursing and back and forth exchanges w the other nail techs. Wow, just wow. I felt bad like maybe she misunderstood me and I offended her. I asked the owner who was nearby what was going on and if she misunderstood what I was asking -- I clarified that I just wanted a little alcohol swabbed around the cuticle area to clean the (super sloppy btw) stray polish. He replies "Oh she's upset and has just walked away, she doesn't want to finish you" Um say what now?! Oh say no more mr My Nail owner. I'm out of here. He apologized and advised he could finish me AFTER his current customer who had just came in. Nah I'm good. Poor customer service and several WTF moments add to a one star experience at My Nail. I have no doubt that the other nail techs there do a decent job and the prices are favorable but after my afternoon there, no thanks to trying them again. read more

Probably one of the top five worst experiences getting my nails done. Between having my nails cut to short the woman globbing the nail polish onto my nails and it trickling down my skin and then her blaming me and saying the color was bad after my husband thoughtfully picked it out for me I wasn't sure what was the worst. Out of all nail salons in the local area this one is by far the best. They smile when you walk in, they take their time giving you a pedicure and for the price it's pretty awesome! Those glitzy declarative pedicure salons are selling more their looms than the actual experience. This place isn't up to date with decorations, but the employers are kind and care. This place seemed pretty scattered, and the first tech to work on me didn't speak a lick of English. She disappeared so a young guy took over, he was alright but spent a great deal of time staring at the wall during some of the manicure and foot massage. It was impersonal and he didn't use any kind of strength- to remove the cuticle cream he dabbed at my fingernails as if he was shooing a spider or something. I got a French manicure and it came out alright. The work was fine but a large part of paying for a service you can do yourself is the experience, which I found to be just ok. The prices were extremely reasonable and they had a fairly decent selection of gel colors for me to choose from (I wanted an olive which they didn't have but I found a gorgeous gunmetal and happily settled for that instead).
